Default How do you loose alot of weight without being flabby?

I want to loose about 100lbs but do not want to have the flabby skin, is there anything I can do to prevent that??

There isn't really anything specific you can do to prevent it.

It depends a lot on your body type, age, how long you were overweight, etc.

My husband lost 112 pounds and has barely any loose skin. However, he wasn't overweight very long. He was only 25. And he drank LOTS of water, day in and day out.

My sister lost 75 pounds, she was 20 and she'd been overweight her whole life. She is now looking into a tummy tuck because she has a lot of loose skin.

There's a great FAQ here at 3FC on weight loss and skin - http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/body...skin-faqs.html

I think it all depends on your body type as well, I gained 90 lbs in 2 years and I know once I get back to my original weight I will have to have a tummy tuck, but you have to think I stayed pregnant for almost a constant 2 years, and had two c-sections. So I think it just depends on your body sweetpea. I know if you lose constantly and slowly, you will have less "flab" then if you were to drop a ton of weight very quickly. Good luck sweety!

I'd be shocked if you had any at all--you don't have that much to lose compared to a lot of people, and are very young. You might--might--have some sagging briefly when skin is "catching up", but it will all smooth out in the end.

Oh that's a relief. I told a friend that I was going on a diet, and she is also kind of overweight. And she was like, "why? you're going to have a ton of loose skin after. do you have money for surgery?" so it kind of spooked me.

I agree! Do it for you and for health. Even if you do have a bit of extra skin who cares! You'll be fit and healthy!

I'm the same and I'm a bit worried about this. I've lost a fair amount already and I have none at the moment and my tummy is very firm. My main worries are the tops of my thighs and my arms. My arms are a bit flabby - but not "loose," if that makes sense. I carry almost all my weight on my hips/legs and very little on my waist (compartively.)

I have a crazy skin care regime - hopefully it'll work. Although skin issues seem to mainly come down to genetics.

I do the following:

10 glasses of water a day
MSM powder (TSP a day.)
Body scrubs (I home make these, generally.)
Body brushing/exfoliation (daily.)
Body moisturizer (daily.)
Lots of exercise
Weight training (2 hours a week.)

I don't want to sound like a pessimist but to goreplz I would say don't be so sure you won't have much loose skin. I lost a lot of weight (close to 100 lbs) at that exact age, 17, and had a lot of loose skin that never went away. I kept the weight off for several years until my mid-20s and the loose skin never got any tighter. Over the last few years since then I've gained much of the weight back unfortunately, but that's another issue. Back then I never really thought about getting a tummy tuck, for a long time I thought the skin would tighten since I was so young plus since I was in high school and college I obviously didn't have the money for cosmetic surgery. I'm a male by the way. Now after I lose weight I think I will get a tummy tuck.

Your "friend's" remark is what is holding her back. Don't let it be a hurdle to your
ambitions.
