MissKitty - Tours... you're so lucky to have friends there. You must be so excited.

I got the idea from Baja Fresh's Tostada Salad. I think next time I'm allowed lf plain yogurt on the same day I'll use that instead of sour cream.

I had the cabbage soup tonight with pancetta instead of ham hock and it was quite yummy.

Natamars - thanks for the recipe. I can't wait to try them. I'll use your substitutes as I'm not a fan of artificial sweetners or sugar.

My friends mom makes a mean bean salad. I got him to give me the recipe. If anyone is interested.

The recipe:
You need
1 tin red kidney beans
1 tin chick peas
2 limes
Bit of cilantro/ corriander
1 big onion finely chopped
2 med tomatoes fin.....
2 tsp paprika
Salt to taste!

natamars and Taurie~ Thanks for posting those recipes. They both look yummy.

Well, dh's veggie soup was a hit. We had it over brown rice. I am looking forward to my yogurt and grapes in a bit.

The snow we were supposed to get turned out to be mostly a dusting. But, I'm not complaining. I've had enough snow this year.

Day 3 of detox is almost over. Only 6 more to go. Just mainly tired and missing my caffeine. But, I feel better. If that makes any sense. Haven't been tempted to weigh yet.

Talk to you all tomorrow...

Just so I am not so confused...lol. Are sluggo and natamars doing the original FS? Is anyone else? That is the one I am on. Then, misskitty and Taurie are on the 4 day diet, right? Who is on EFS? Sorry about being so confused.

I finally received my 4day diet book today but I'm still waiting on the extreme fat smash to decide which to do. I leave for Aruba in less than 3 weeks so I have to decide quick. I've been scanning the 4day diet book tonight and notice Physllum (SP?) husk 2x in the first 4 days. Does anyone know what that is??

mleajanko - It's just a natural fibre supplement. I'm not sure of your location, but if your in the States you can definitely get it at Whole Foods Market, or Trader Joes. Other than that it's very likely to find it at any big grocery store or pharmacy. It'll be with the health aids/vitamins.
It's better to get it in loose form so it's like a powder you mix with water or juice. You get more for your money that way.

shae8230 - yep it's the 4 Day Diet for me.

I've been weighing myself everyday and after a rough last week (diet wise) I'm back to where my tracker says I weigh. Now if I can just get to what my drivers license shows!

Well, I feel like total crap today. Don't know if it's allergies or a cold, but my throat is scratchy, my nose is running, I keep sneezing, and my eyes are tearing. I wish I had made some soup this weekend - the beans, rice, and salad I have packed for lunch does not seem too appealing right now.

taurie, the bean salad sounds yummy. like the lime and cilantro idea - never thought of adding those.

shae, I am doing the original fat smash. I am really hoping for a good result on Tuesday. How do you not obsess about weighing in? You must be much less compulsive than I am!

matilda, two pounds sounds great. can't wait to see where you are at the end of this!

hope i am feeling up to zumba tonight - they only offer it one night a week and i hate to miss it.

hope everyone has a great day.

morning!

the psyllium husk is disgusting in water or lemonade. taurie did you take it that way? i went with a small bowl of cereal with the 1/2 cup milk option and sprinkled it on top.

sherry, yes, i think you're right about the FSers and the 4dayers. the EFS seems more extreme even than the 4 day, so that's why i'm happy that i found it.

i have to go out to lunch today w/colleagues. i'm hoping to be able to eat my brown rice and veggies to keep w/the last day of this module.

later,
misskitty

(another two hour delay....)

Morning Peeps, Shae8230 I'm doing the regular FS. I have tried the extreme and 4 day in the past but I do better on the FS. I'm one of those people who don't do well when I have a limited diet as in I do better if there is an unlimited amount of something I can eat. This is my 2nd day of detox, I originally was going to start last monday but sugar monster got the best of me so I decided on ash wednesday because as I have always done in the past I give up sugar for lent. Do ya'll know if were allowed ff sour cream? I had such a craving for a taco salad (of course fs friendly) but I didn't see anything listed in the book. Right now I'm dealing with a killer headache that woke me up at 3am. I don't do caffeiene so I know this is allergy related. Hope everyone has a great day

MissKitty - lol. Psyllium isn't the best tasting. I do take it in a small cup of water. Two or three gulps and it's done. I feel like adding it to cereal would would just elongate the experience, but I'm sure cereal masks its earthy taste quite well.

sluggo - I hope you headache goes away soon. I've woken up with those headaches before, they're awful. But, for me it's because I'm dehydrated from sleeping with the heater on.

I know were allowed flax seed but I can't find anything about how much we can have, anyone? There is this low carb website and has a killer flaxseed recipe for pizza crust which I make into a hamburger bun. Would love to have a soyburger on a "bun".

sluggo, i don't know about flax seed (flour, right?) per se, but he wants us to stay away from bread products. i don't think you're going to be able to do the bread thing, unless you try the pizza recipe for example, which is made primarily of oats and chickpeas which are allowed. he'd rather we fill up on fruits and veggies, rice, oats, more 'pure' foods to break us of our eating habits.

good luck with the headache. i get migraines and it ain't fun!

misskitty, I use flaxseed meal and it's classified as a nut. Looking over different fs boards I have seen that flaxseed is allowed but there is no mention of amount. My migranes are triggered by stress and my plate is overflowing with stress these days. The motrin has finally kicked in

sounds good, then. but be careful of nuts, how much fat is in flaxseed meal? that would be the only other thing i would worry about.

what are the other ingredients? i could use that recipe!

misskitty

PS-yeah, drugs!

TYLER'S MOST AWESOME INDIVIDUAL PIZZA CRUST
3 tablespoons flax meal
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon granular Splenda, optional
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 egg
2 teaspoons water
1-2 teaspoons oil
Toppings

Mix the dry ingredients; add the egg, water and oil. Spray a microwaveable dinner plate with cooking spray. Spread the batter on the plate in a circle. Microwave on HIGH 1 minute 40 seconds. Meanwhile heat a little oil in a medium skillet on about medium heat; slide the crust off the plate into a skillet. Brown on both sides. Place the crust on baking sheet; add the toppings of your choice. Bake at 350º about 15 minutes until hot and bubbly.

Makes 1 serving
Can be frozen

Per Pizza Crust: 264 Calories; 20g Fat; 14g Protein; 8g Carbohydrate; 5g Dietary Fiber; 3g Net Carbs
Per 1/2 Pizza Crust: 131 Calories; 10g Fat; 7g Protein; 4g Carbohydrate; 2.5g Dietary Fiber; 1.5g Net Carbs

With the following toppings:
1 tablespoon pizza sauce
2 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
7 slices pepperoni
1 tablespoons green pepper, chopped
Dash garlic powder
Dash Italian seasoning

Per Pizza: 518 Calories; 40g Fat; 30g Protein; 12g Carbohydrate; 6g Dietary Fiber; 6g Net Carbs
Per 1/2 Pizza: 259 Calories; 20g Fat; 15g Protein; 6g Carbohydrate; 3g Dietary Fiber; 3g Net Carbs

This makes a cute little 6-inch pizza with a somewhat crispy crust. I liked it, but I will leave out the Splenda next time. I don't care for a sweet pizza crust. I'm sure you could make a bunch of crusts and freeze them for quick pizzas. I'm going to try making little round flat breads using this batter in my muffin top pans. I bet they'd make nice sandwiches. Here's a picture of the pizza with the toppings on it:

Of course I sub I can't believe it's not butter for the oil. I made this all the time when I did southbeach. My family would always say "gawd mom you eat the weirdest things" whenever I would make this. I love this recipe. My toppings were canadian bacon, mushroom, green peppers and fat free cheese YUM! I also made smaller versions and used it as a hamburger bun
