Linda wow that's great. I also lost 6 pounds in the first 3 days. Some of that was fluid retention I think because it was that time of the month.
Jihan since I bought the book I see that there is so many more options than what I have read. For me it made a world of difference.
Sil something that I like to eat is the salsa recipe from the book. The mexicans make it that way and we have been making it for years. The other thing that I do different is add a can of tuna. Yummy. I also learned that in Mexico. Just a thought for adding variety.

Hello everyone!!

Sil~I am currently in northwest GA, about a couple of hours from Athens. I dont know about you but I'm ready for fall...this heat is a killer!

Well I'm on day 3, I must confess that I went off the program last night. My problem is that I get sooo hungry in the afternoon. I am going to try to fit in a snack around 3 or so, so I will be strong till supper. I have dropped 3 lbs. though..even with the slip up. So I woke up today motivated and ready to go!! I thought the hardest thing for me would be the diet coke however, with all this cranwater, I find that I really havent been missing it. I think salt is the biggest obstacle for me, but I'm working on it.

Hope everyone has a great day! Congrats on your losses!

Smile Hi

I was so inspired by all the posts I read a week or so ago about Fat Flushing that I went out and bought the book and all of the appropriate food and supplements.

I have been on it just over a week now and my first week I lost 7 lbs. I like the idea mentioned of taking a day off each week and that is what I am doing. I think it makes it much easier to stick to something so strick and I don't think it hampers your weight loss too much. If anything, as long as you get right back on the next day, I would think it would keep your body from adapting to it and lowering your set point.

Thanks Sil for the tip on the tip on flax seed oil needing to be stirred up. I now keep my bottle upside down in the fridge and then just shake it up real good.

Its that TOM and I have taken the last three days off. I have endometriosis and I really battle the pain but should be feeling better in another day so I will be back at it full force.

Good Luck to everyone.

Take Care,
Elle

Welcome Elle ~~~ It looks like you are having great results already. Good for you Don't ya just hate TOM

Jihan~~~I don't know if there is any guarantee on losing weight or gaining weigh on any diet. Everybody is different. Some people cannot lose weight even on Atkins induction. But take a look at Linda. She was on Atkins and just started FF, and she just posted that she has lost 5 # in 5 days.

I guess that I would suggest that if you are having good results on Atkins, then there would be no need to try FF. I would stick with what works for you. But if you are not having good results then what do you have to lose?

Jacklyn~~~3# in 3 days ! That's great I live about 30 min south-west of Athens and you are right, man it has been hot !!! Yesterday I spent the morning staining some deck stairs. I wanted to finish it today but the heat was just too much. I even have a pool and it was too hot for that too. I love Summer but this is the time of year that I also say "I can't wait for Fall". I'm gonna try to get out there early tomorrow morning.

Dee~~~I'll have to try adding tuna to my homemade salsa. Thanks for the tip I just bought some fresh cilantro and roma tomatoes yesterday at the farmers market.

Sundrop~~~I hope you and your family are feeling better

Jihan I switched from Atkins to FFP last week and as of Tuesday had lost 5 lb. I'm not going to weigh now until Friday. I was really on a plateau with Atkins so I thought my metabolism needed a jump start. I was even doing a modified Fat Fast on Atkins with no results.

Sil I have used ONLY sea salt for the past couple of years! Do you mean I could have been putting sea salt on my food and it would be OK? Sheeesh! I will have to check that out. BTW, I tried stirring up my flax seed oil but no residue came up from the bottom. It's still really yellow.

Also, you were asking about my coffee. I just checked the ingredients list in my Bambu fake coffee. It has rye, chickory, barley, malted barley, ground figs and acorns. Is all that forbidden? Gee, it's only one stinkin' cup a day!

Well, today I was really proud of myself. I took my sister out for her birthday lunch. She had beef fajitas (and enjoyed every mouthful too, the brat) while I had a plain salad with 10 large shrimp on. I asked for sliced lemons instead of salad dressing. Then, having seen me give my sis a birthday pressie, the waitress brought over a HUGE wedge of ice cream cake all decorated with drizzled chocolate and whipped cream. ...and TWO forks!!! I managed to restrain myself and had only a tiny taste on the very tip of the fork. OHGOD it was to DIE FOR!! But I let my sis eat the whole thing. I just kept telling myself I was cleansing my liver.
Jacklyn, I have learned that it really helps to have my fruit smoothie mid-afternoon rather than just a piece of plain fruit. It gets me through the mid-day slump. Congratulations on your weight loss.

Elle Good for you. YOu are doing great!

Hello everyone! Well, I dropped another pound so now I'm up to 4# in 4 days. I'm also doing much better, I dont know if I'm getting used to the plan or if I planned my food better yesterday. I did make a point to eat an orange around 3:00 yesterday and that seems to tide me over. That is a good idea about the smoothie though. What kind do you all use? I've seen the soy mix for a smoothie but I haven't come across a mix for a whey shake. I would definitely like to try it. I'm also having trouble finding the Stevia Plus. Hopefully I'll come across it soon. Either way, I really feel that this is something I can stick with! and that is really exciting!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Jacklyn~~~Down another pound!!! Way to go
I also could not find the Stevia Plus (except at her website). I have noticed that the Stevia in packets (powder) do contain the maltadextrose that she warns against. The plain Stevia liquid from NOW brand does not list maltodextrose, so that is what I'm using. I found this at the health food stores and also at www.vitaglo.com .

Linda~~~Good for you on resisting the B-Day goodies As far the "one stinking cup of Bambu", I say go for it.

Yesterday, I was craving "something" but not sure what it was. Since I'm past the 2 week Phase 1, I decided to begin to add some of the friendly carbs and see if that helps. Yesterday I had 1/2 sweet potato with dinner If it goes well, I may advance to phase 3, where I can finally add some fat free cottage cheese and string cheese. These forms of protein really help stop my food cravings. It's either that or I need to tape my mouth closed
Also, I'm trying to increase my water consumption by adding lemon :lemon: to my water.

These last few pounds are coming off so slow but they will come off!

Hey everyone! wow what a lively, losing bunch we are!

well, I'm alive, kids are all better and I'm almost better. this was a harsh cold, I didn't much sleep which made it hard to get better. I co-sleep with my 2 yo and ended up holding him all night for 5 night so he could breathe through his nose.

And I don't take or dispense over the counter drugs. But yesterday DH brought home Dimetappe, dosed the kids up and they both slept through the night! So I feel sort of foolish, maybe I could have saved myself some rough hours. I'll have to think on this one.

Diet, I'm back on today, went shopping yesterday bought some organic decaf coffee, sweet leaf (a stevia with good reviews from friends) and more flax and cranberry. I weighed 181.5 this morning. So i have lost 18.5 pounds since starting FF (though I took 5 days off). I have lost 94 pounds since my highest weight, and I'm feeling pretty good about all of this.

I'm adding cottage cheese in this week.
Well, my little guy is pulling on me and wailing,
gotta go.

Linda I bet your excited to learn that you can you sea salt. My flax seed oil doesn't have any setiments either. It's just plain piss yellow.lol
Sil so how was that sweet potatoe? I hope you enjoyed it.
Jacklyn way to go on another pound down. Yipee!
Well this is day 8. I am craving carbs today. What gives with that? Oh well I know that I can do it.

Just a quick hello. Still OP and still not thrilled about the lack of flavour in the food even with the addition of Mrs Dash and other herbs/spices. But, I will continue as long as it continues to work.
The one thing I DO enjoy is my fruit smoothies. I make them with two heaping tablespoons of plain whey protein from the bulk section at the health food store. I also mix in my flaxseed oil if I haven't used it for a salad. Today I made a peach smoothy with a fresh peach. I crushed up some ice to make it nice and cold, added a dash of vanilla and cinnamon and it was really yummy. I did find some Designer Whey at the HFS the other day, chocolate flavour but after rereading some of the posts at the FFP website at ivillage.com I've been having second thoughts about trying it until I'm in Phase 3...if that ever happens.
ALSO, on rereading the book (it's amazing what you miss the first time around isn't it?) I learned that we can add extra protein if we feel it's necessary. Personally, I think I could use extra FAT but I'll settle for protein. I think it will help me through this first bit when I feel so tired.
Tomorrow is my WI at WW. I know, it seems ridiculous. This is the second weight loss plan I've been on since quitting WW but I still have some prepaid coupons for it so I may as well go and use their scales. I don't stay for the meetings very often though. I just find all their motivational jabber not relevant to what I'm doing now.
Do any of you journal faithfully? Not just your menus, but feelings and reactions to foods, etc? It seems to be an important part of FFP but I'm a bit leery about baring my soul in writing. you never know who's going to pick it up and read it. Funny, but I have no qualms at all about blabbing ALL to you folks.

Hello everyone! Good news for me, down another pound today, so that is 5# in 5 days. I cant even remember the last time that has happened. Probably back in my high school starvation days. I am also feeling pretty good. I have lots of energy and am happy with my progress so far. I am going to try to pick up some stuff for the smoothies this week end to change things up a bit. Hope everyone is doing well!

Good morning!
Starting to feel like myself again...
Ate On Plan yesterday, was stuffed all day, funny how some days are like that. How am i going to eat all that food???
Other days I'm starving.
I just made a big batch of deviled eggs (hope DH and DD don't eat them all before I need them)
And I'm trying to come up with more fat flush friendly recipes, I am so tired of chicken and turkey.

Linda- I love my smoothies too. I'm a fan of the praline flavor in Designer whey, it's excellent with a cup of blue berries. Sounds like you made a peach melba shake. Over in the low carb forum a search will reveal an excellent thread on shake recipes. I printed it out and have made some really good ones.

I made a big pitcher of rasberry lemonade- just blended lemon water with a half cup of fresh raspberries and then strained it and added stevia. It's really good stuff! I'm thinking I could use my ice cream maker to make a sort of "ice" from these same ingredients or a use egg whites to make a sorbet.

Oh and I lived in Athens, graduated from UGA, where I met/fell in love with my DH, it's a special place to us. We had to really agonize about moving to Asheville NC or back to Athens when we decided we neede to bug out of Atlanta about a year ago. I think we made the right choice, we are sort of in our post bar-hopping days at this point...

Ok gotta run!

I had my official LAST WI at WW this morning. I had a prepaid plan there so continued to go long after I switched to Atkins and then to FFP. According to their scale I lost 3.5 lb this past week, which is pretty good in my opinion. From now on I'll be weighing in on my own home scale which showed a better one week result. 6 lb. Oh well. I can live with 3-1/2.
Sundrop, I think I read somewhere on the FFP website that we're not supposed to use the Designer Whey Praline or Chocolate but, of course, if you are in Phase 3 , it's probably fine for you.
Gotta run. I'll check in later.
