I watched Oprah's show with Bob Greene introducing his new book "Get with the Program." What Bob said in regards to emotional eating made a lot of sense. I have decided to purchase the book (if I can find it) and follow the program. Would anyone else care join me on this journey of self discovery?
I didn't see the show, but my daughter did and was quite excited about it...and she loves Oprah which helps! Anyway, I reviewed the program on the Oprah site and I too plan to "Get with the Program." I saw the book at Barnes and Noble for $24.00 and plan to purchase this weekend. Let me know if you want to have a thread here dedicated to this plan. Good luck.
I have been in bed with the flu, unable to muster up the energy to turn on the computer. I did purchase the book at Costco and have started reading Phase One. I really agree with Bob's concept of incorporating movement into your daily life prior to changing your food intake. I started 2002 knowing I wanted to get down to the bottom of why I eat the way I do. I am commiting the next six months to this program.
I would love to correspond with anyone interested, support is a big key to success.
I thought the program was excellent, and rushed out that night to the bookstore to get it. I knew from past experience that whenever Oprah features a book on her show it will be sold out by the next day! Fortunately, I was able to grab one of the last copies...
I have read phase one, and will re-read it and work on the workbook this week. As previosly mentioned, you can obtain alot of the workbook online at www.oprah.com
Good luck everyone!
Hello Everyone:
It has been along time since I have been to this site but I am back on the program. What program caring about myself and wanting to look and feel better. I miss the show with Orpah but I am buying the book this coming Friday.
I maintain to keep the 30 lbs that I took off the first of 2001 but when I seen the Christmas pictures I took with my husband it was a wake-up call I still have my work cut out for me. I would love some encouragement from anyone....See Ya
Hello All.
I would love to join you in this journey of self discovery. I finally found the book last night and just started to read it. I too am committed in following this program. I know I'm a emotional eater, I eat when I'm sad, depressed, happy, anxious... Food is my comfort.
FYI - I'm single 40, joined WW last thursday...
FYI-- The "After the Show" segment of Bob Green on the Oprah Show can be viewed on Oprah's website at http://www.oprah.com. The question and answer segment is about 15-20 minutes long and some of the featured guests spoke in detail about their experiences. So, check it out.
Also on Oprah's website, you can get a synopsis of the 4 phases of Bob's program and info on the air dates for the remaining "Get with the Program Shows".
I had missed the show, but my friend has very excitedly told me about it! I checked out Oprah's site to get a bit more info, and I'm definitely buying the book. My friend is getting the book, as well, and we're going to start together.
I would love to check in here and see how everyone is doing with it.
I am tired of being overweight, but most of all I'm tired of making excuses. I want this to be MY year.
I've been working through the exercises in the book, and have almost completed Phase 1. So far, I am very impressed with the material. Although alot of it is stuff I have heard before, I am really trying to approach this with a clean slate.
How is everyone else doing?
Is anyone around who is still doing the program. I saw the follow up show the other day and the weight loss is just great. I am doing to try it again.
I hope there are others so I can get support.
I am thinking about buying this book (waiting for an auction on Ebay!) and trying the program. I am so desperate to lose weight and this seems like a realistic way to do it.
I have concerns about fitting in exercise ( I literally can't find any time to do it!!) but the way this programs seems to incorporate it slowly into your schedule, I just might succeed that way. We'll see.
I would love to hear from anyone that has been doing it - pros and cons!
