How old is your brother? He sounds really immature. Next time just roll your eyes at him, sigh loudly and calmly say "you are so ignorant". If he can't get a rise out of you he will eventually give up.

Lydia... FWIW I think you are very wise to still be nice to your brother and not take this too seriously. Sometimes guys just flat out don't have a clue how we females take things. This is NOT worth destroying your relationship over. Take it from someone who had lost both a sister and a brother through death. The relationships are very valuable... enjoy it and let his silliness roll right on off.
Men do think differently than women, that's for sure. If you watch them together, insults are the only acceptable way for them to show affection for each other. It's like code. They can't seriously say stuff like "I love you, man," except in beer commercials, so they insult each other's appearance, physical prowess, or mothers.
Good point, Colleen!!! I think her brother was just being a brother. LOL my brother used to get me down in the floor, pour salt in my hair, and tell me what horrible dandruff I had!! He did finally grow up though and now is the best brother ever... and I DO give him a hard time about what he did LOL

I am a very nice person too, almost too nice, but if somebody crossed the line like that with me, holy crap, they'd definitely get a verbal ***-kicking! I KNOW from experience that its extremely hard, but try not to let things get to you. I am very insecure as well, and i let stupid little things get to me and i worry and worry over them but its just not worth it.
Makes me extremely glad I have the brother and sisters that i have--They're some of my best friends. My brother, especially, is very protective and loving, which is really nice.
