I'm patiently waiting for my doctor's office to call me.
I'm afraid to do anything as I know the phone will ring as soon as I step in the shower, halfway through my treadmill run (when I'm breathing like a cow), while I'm in traffic if I run out for a coffee.
My nurse called me yesterday and left a message that she needs to talk to me but she's leaving now. It's nothing to worry about but she can't leave a detailed message on my phone. She'll call me Thursday morning. Says again not to worry but she needs to talk to me. (I worried ALL night long.)
I called there at 8am this morning. Thursday is the only day they open at 9:30am. I call there at 9:30am and get the answering service. Call at 9:32am and get the answering service. Finally can leave a message for her at 9:35am and am now waiting an hour to find out what I don't have to worry about!!
So this thread is just for me to kill some time. Patiently waiting....NOT
As soon as I posted this another nurse in the office called to say she got my message. So I'm like "ok". And there is dead silence! I said I'm waiting to hear about what I don't have to worry about!!
She checks my file, there's no notes about the call!! She's going to try and track down that nurse and find out what she called me for.
I was typing up a more detailed frustrated reply for you and then my phone rang!
They needed to know if I had chicken pox as a child. I wish I knew it was something that simple!!
Phew...
I guess if I change my voicemail to a personal greeting with my name then they can leave detailed messages. But because my phone is just a generic greeting, they can't. Something to do with privacy laws, I never knew!
"Mrs. Elvislover... I don't know how to tell you this, but we just found out that the office scale is off by 10 pounds .... so your true official weight is 202.2."

OMG are you FRESH!!!
It was my fertility doctor and they showed my weight as 190.0 on Tuesday!! Theirs was less than my regular doctor's office!!
I was more nervous it had to do with my fertility drugs. I did all the registration online yesterday morning and then they were calling my insurance company for approval. I figured she was going to say I had a copay of a gazillion dollars...
I'm late reading this thread and I understand the need for the privacy laws, but leaving a message saying we need to talk but don't worry when all they want to know is if you've had chicken pox!!!!! I guess I could see a lot of concern if they were asking you which STDs you've had in life, but chicken pox!!!!
Good luck with the shots. I'm with you that I would have trouble giving myself injections, but would do it for a baby.

I work in a non-profit that deals with individuals with disabilities, so we have to adhere to HIPPA like no tomorrow. The reason for the privacy over everything, even small pox, is due to the 1% that would get offended if this information was given out and who would in turn, sue. What if it had nearly killed them? What if it had spread to shingles? What if someone you don't know took this information and used it to torment you. (i.e. "You never had chicken pox, so you will get shingles and die.") It happens. It is sick. But, it happens. Because of that small percentage, the rest of us have to have insane boundaries. Suck, but the way it is.

You aren't too late, Betsy!!
All the STDs came back negative (thank God LOL!) but the chicken pox couldn't be confirmed! I'm glad they take the law so seriously but come on!! Or even if she didn't say which one, just say she has to ask me about one of my vaccinations or something. I wouldn't have been nervous then I don't think.
Thanks Betsy. I'm nervous to do it but so far everything I have done in this journey that I was scared of, I came through with flying colors impressing even myself. It's amazing the inner strength we find when something is so important to our heart.
