My spending was out of control! So I decided to challenge myself to help curb it. I tallied up the weeks expenditures (gas, food, outings...) and withdrew that amount from the bank. The challenge was to not swipe my bank card for 7 days!
It worked very well! It made me conscience of what I was buying and put me back into the "do I really need that" mentality. Which is what I needed, to be back under control (and it made my boyfriend happy to no end, haha).
I really enjoyed taking back control, so now I'm trying to decide what my next 7 day challenge should be.
I already take my breakfast and lunch to work every day, so that's no good. Maybe 15 minutes of cleaning every night would be a good one!
Is there anyone who would like to join me on a 7 day challenge of their own? Or, maybe you have suggestions of other 7 day challenges!
I think this is a great idea! I really like the cleaning idea. I would like to challenge myself to at least 30 minutes of cleaning every evening for the next 7 days! (I really need to get my house spring cleaned and ready for a graduation party!).
I'm glad you're joining in Jennifer! I'm going to start tonight.
No matter what, I have to do at least 15 minutes of cleaning (outside of my regular "chores") for the next 7 days. Who knows, maybe this will turn into a regular habit and I can relax on the weekends, lol.
Look at that Jennifer, you went 8 minutes over! I did 20 minutes of cleaning last night! It was one of those projects that has been on the back burner for 2 months because "I'll eventually get to it".
I was so proud after I completed it, I even stood back and admired my handy work!
That's exactly what I'm doing--little projects that need to be done, but always get shoved to the back burner. Tonight when I get home, I'm planning to clean out and dust the 2 built ins in our living room and clean the shelving unit in the bathroom. Not big jobs, but definitely needed!
Ok, so I was derailed yesterday and did not meet my 30 minute goal, but I've already cleaned for 45 minutes today, and I'm nowhere near finished with my list!
I managed to get in my 15 minutes last night while my bf took his shower. As the night went on he noticed the little things I did and kept saying "when did you do that!?!" It's amazing how much can be done in just 15 minutes!
I managed to get my 15 minutes in on Saturday, but not Sunday. I have a lot going on this week, so it's going to be a little harder to fit in the 15 minutes, but I'm going to try!
You can do it, PreciousMissy! I have been a cleaning fool! Yesterday I far exceeded my goal, and am hoping to do same today. I have already mowed the lawn (not really cleaning) and vacuumed the front porch. I'm off today, so I'm planning to get a lot done. Another great perk of all this work is besides the house looking much better, I have to be burning quite a few calories.
I slacked a little today, and only got about 12 minutes in. I have been cleaning a ton the last couple of days, and I will clean more tomorrow to make up for today's laziness
EagleRiverDee, it would be wonderful to have you join us!
Jennifer1966, 12 minutes is better than a big fat zero. Well done!
I almost caved to my laziness again last night, but I fought back and won. I did another job that I've been putting off...cleaning the hair out of drains...yuck!!!!
I have to say, it's nice looking at something and thinking "man I'm glad I finally did that!" instead of "man...I really need to do that."
I think my bf is getting on board with the 15 minutes, too. I got home last night and he had started working on a cutting down a dead tree that we've been putting off since last summer!
