Recently I have been wanting to get into modeling *for fun* maybe just starting off making a portfolio for myself for fun maybe never going further than that, just to help me get over my body image issues cause I feel uncomfortable with my new body. I'm really into fashion and I have been looking at model profiles and their stats and they all are really healthy looking girls like they do not look thin to me but their stats are like 5'7 108lbs and I'm looking at the girl and I'm like...shes either shorter than she says or heavier than she says, but maybe I am wrong but all the models I have looked at they list their stats way diff than they look. So whats up with that?
Also I have been rethinking my goal weight cause I really do like a certain body type that I can already tell from my current weight I will not have at 135 so I'm thinking 120. I don't want to go below that cause in my head it seems scary but there are girls 5'7 that are under 120 right. I am small framed as well so keep that in mind XD
Edit: Also please don't tell me its insane to be thin or anything about 'curves' and 'real women' lol. If I feel most comfortable at 135, 125, 120, or 115 thats the weight I will choose in the end.

I think if it will be good for you to put together a portfolio, go for it!
As far as the models' stats. . . people fib about their weight all the time. The weight on my driver's lisence has only just become true in the past couple months.
Goal weight is a personal thing. NO one else gets a say in it. You will pick what is right for you when you get there! "Real" women look all different ways, doesn't make them any less real if they have a straight body shape vs. a curvy one!
I don't believe in body shaming ANY size. When people say a women has the body of a boy or some other such comment, it's JUST as rude as an insulting comment about someone being overweight. We all have different bodies, as long as we are healthy and happy, the weight we choose is our decision alone! So I certainly won't tell you it is insane to pick 120 pounds, totally your choice.
I figure there was some fibbing...I guess I don't understand that aspect cause the more weight I lose the more I'm excited to tell my weight! They are all so gorgeous regardless of whether they are actually what weight they say, they are stunning. Whatever weight I choose as to be one where my tummy is flatter thats for sure XD thats my one problem area right now all my weight seems to be there
Well it depends, models aren't known for lifting weights for the most part unless you get into fitness models. Although they aren't as active, we used to have a few shorter women here who wore size 00 and lifted weights, they weighed between 140-160. You get a model who doesn't have a lot of muscle, wears a size 00 and weighing 110 isn't that unusual.
I would say don't worry about a specific number until you get there. Just work towards your goal and re-evaluate the closer you get.
Well these aren't..'fashion' models in the literal sense. They do model clothes, just not the clothes you're gonna find at the mall. They are alternative fashion models. Like goth or pin up.
You have the absolute right to be any size that you want, but personally I am not going to say that it's cool for you to be what is generally accepted as a totally unhealthy weight for your height.
I have never been a model but from everything I have read, it's a TOTALLY messed up industry with extremely sick and unhealthy habits.
XD I don't want to be 108lbs I was just using one models stats cause I thought judging by her normal looking figure she had to be more than that at 5'7. 120 is a healthy weight for 5'7. Nor do I want to work in the modeling industry so much as I want to play around with it for fun
Basically this thread was to ask if thats realistic stats for models because I am wondering if they are in since I was looking at models for inspiration for my own modeling project I want to do to improve my self confidence over my own body issues having never been as small as I am now I am not the least bit confident and feel less confident than I did 140lbs ago and I want that confidence back so I think making my own lil portfolio would help me and I got curious looking at models that I love and their stats. Mouthful run on sentence.

You got me curious. For example, Miranda Kerr (which is, in my opinion, on of the most beautiful woman in the world) is said to be 123 lbs on a website. I guess it really depends of the models..
Edit : I love your new profile picture and hair color, by the way!

Thanks. I was originally going to go white blonde but everyones made such a fuss for me to stay strawberry. I googled pics of miranda kerr and if shes 123lbs than the models I was looking at are probably in the 130s or at the lowest 120lbs cause they are a couple inches short but I doubt the 100-108lbs stats they were saying they were XD
CherryQuinn, if modelling is something you're passionate about, go for it! If you think it will make you happy and feel better about yourself, where's the harm?!
As for your goal weight, always go with what you think is good for you. It's a personal choice! By all means take advice on board, but if you don't want too don't let anybody change your mind - I changed mine from 120 to 130 because people kept telling me that 120 was too low, and you know what? I'm going to change it back right now! I am also small framed, and I think that will be a fine weight for both of us
Hey, CherryQuinn, I just wanted to poke my head in here & say I think you could totally do modeling of whatever type you want. You are gorgeous, very exotic looking. I have thought that every single time I have seen your profile pic but I have no idea about the stats of models or anything like that...
I like the new hair color as well. I have white blonde hair & freaking love it. I think that would look good on you as well.
Cherry - I think that putting together a modeling portfolio would be a fun project for you, you should totally go for it!
Are you familiar with www.mybodygallery.com? (The site has been mentioned a lot on this forum, so maybe you're already familiar with it). I like to browse it from time to time to get a feel for different weights, it helps me to keep things in perspective.

Thank you I am still considering white blonde but I'm not sure yet.
To reply to others, I think the models did indeed fudge their numbers a little bit. They are all 2-6 in size but with their heights they are probably 120s and not 100-110lbs . I think 120 for me is as well a psychological thing since ive always been told it was the number I'd never reach
