What are you "not a fan" of?

So it seems like a lot of people love greek yogurt and eat it regularly. It's low in calories and high in protein. There was a sale on it 2 weeks ago, so I picked some up. Trouble is, it turns out I'm not a fan, and it's still in my fridge. I much prefer regular low fat yogurt.

My question for you: What "healthy" or "popular" food are you not a fan of?

IanG 04-09-2013 03:51 PM

Quinoa.

Cous cous has lower calories and tastes better!

CIELOARGE 04-09-2013 03:53 PM

I'm not a fan of low fat or fat free dairy. I used to eat fat free all the time till last year started Atkins and switch to full fat. I just can't go back to LF or FF, it taste really bad to me now. I bought a FF Greek yogurt thinking I could save 40 calories and I just couldn't finish it, it was very artificial and just plain gross. Still in my fridge and thinking giving it to my brother lol.

krampus 04-09-2013 03:56 PM

^ UGH ALL OF THIS - especially 0% Greek yogurt, I think fat free Greek yogurt is why so many people dislike Greek yogurt. Icelandic yogurt, same thing.

Cereal, oatmeal, crackers, whole grain whatever - out of my radar.

I'm not big on black beans or lentils.

I hate raw carrots.

Frozen yogurt, cupcakes, macaroons, sorbet, sherbet, any "delicate" dessert items really.

Keep Moving Forward 04-09-2013 03:59 PM

Vegetables! They're like the ultimate health food & I can't stand most of them. I am finding ways to get them in my belly though.

Also, low fat salad dressings.

Also, coconut water. One sip made me want to vomit.

Skellig19 04-09-2013 03:59 PM

cottage cheese!

Quirky Chick 04-09-2013 04:00 PM

Reduced fat and fat free dressings. Gross! I am a big Ranch person, and light and fat free Ranch is the grossest thing. Diet pop is another; there are a couple that are ok, but some are just not great. The sweetners in diet pop just almost have a sickly sweet taste. Though I haven't been drinking pop, and before the diet it was only Ginger Ale, and just one can a day. Skim milk is another - you might as well drink water lol

dangerouscurvesahead 04-09-2013 04:03 PM

Greek yogurt of any kind, low fat or fat free dairy

THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!

All the other stuff mentioned I like LOL!

punkrocksong 04-09-2013 04:08 PM

Greek yogurt is disgusting...it tastes like sour milk. I'm still looking for some kind of alternative for it as opposed to mayo or sour cream.

Pretty much any dressing that says low fat...I'll skip it or try to make my own.

Asparagus and brussel sprouts. I love veggies, but I've just never cared for either of these.

Pomegranates I haven't liked in any form.

And as strange as this is - water. I hate drinking just plain water - I almost always have to put something in it.

summerkate83 04-09-2013 04:13 PM

brussel sprouts, kale, carrots. and i've recently lost my taste for diet soda-i've been drinking it since i was like 7, and i just recently started tasting more chemicals and less soda when i drink it! i still do, but my two-a-day habit has become more like 2-a-week.

nitrus29 04-09-2013 04:14 PM

not a big fan of tomatoes :barf:
they make the sandwich soggy and I hate soggy bread !! :nono:
so whenever I order a sandwich at the deli.. I go 'no tomatoes please' :^:
You should see the looks I get !!! :o

Arctic Mama 04-09-2013 04:25 PM

Low fat dairy. I don't do dairy well, or carbs well, so upping the milk sugars and lowering the fat has NO benefit (and the taste is sub par, too!).

I'm not a fan of hummus, with rare exception. I have had one recipe of it that I liked and the rest gag me. Which is funny, because straight chickpeas (roasted or otherwise) are delicious. Huh.

BEETS! I tried to like them, but they still taste like sweet dirt.

I was right there with you until you said "cous cous." Might as well be Quinoa.

Ok, in the past I'd agree with you and Stephanie on this one. I have never liked it. But recently I tasted a different kind of cottage cheese that I actually really liked. It was Friendship brand WHIPPED cottage cheese. There were no curds. It had the texture ... and kinda similar taste... to ricotta cheese!

The difference is that if you compare the fat and calories of the two for 1/2 cup, the low fat whipped cottage cheese has 90 cal and 1g fat, whereas the ricotta has 140 calories and 9g fat.

Several people have expressed a dislike for Greek yogurt. I am curious how you have tried it. I love Greek yogurt, but I only use it as I would sour cream. I buy the Fage' 0% and, to me, it tastes very close to regular sour cream.

There is probably a lot of things I could list that I don't like. I remember seeing a thread a while back on the topic of "Foods that most people like, but I do not." That was an interesting read. For me, one of those things is tomatoes. I think its the texture more than anything else.

Sunday115 04-09-2013 04:38 PM

Been eating a lot of fish, I feel like it's punishment for being fat haha.

Try different kinds of fish. I'm not a fish fan, but I'm really digging the Mahi Mahi that I got at Costco in the frozen section. I grill it up with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder, and a little dill. Soooo good.

As for good things I don't like. Cottage Cheese, the texture is just wrong for me. Also I like most veggies, but I can't stand peas or corn, or any canned veggie except for beets and tomatoes.

Misti in Seattle 04-09-2013 04:49 PM

Fat free or low fat products. They are almost all loaded full of extra sugar and chemicals, which are far worse for you than the fat.

I have tried a lot of new foods but the one I really could not eat was kale.

I've tried everything the store offers at some point. It's tolerable, but I never crave fish. It's a good, fast, dinner lol.

2FatCats 04-09-2013 04:56 PM

Fish of any kind. Shrimp. Okay - any seafood. Even tuna.
Cauliflower - smells awful.
Kale - looks suspiciously like a weed.
Spaghetti squash- too sweet.
I do, however, LOVE 0% Fage! I eat it plain, with fresh fruit, as sour cream sub, mixed with protein powder for a pudding, frozen! And skim milk...love it! After the thinner skim - whole milk reminds me of glue!!

It took me a YEAR of trying kale every couple of weeks until I finally tolerated it, then liked it, then craved it. I still don't like it cooked, but love it chopped up raw for salad.

Personally, I am not a fan of swiss chard or rainbow chard. I don't really know how to prepare it, and am never happy with how my attempts come out.

Em Coconut 04-09-2013 05:06 PM

Anything that lives in water
Cottage cheese
Too many veggies to mention

Psychic 04-09-2013 05:11 PM

Not a fan of cottage cheese, tomatoes, sweet (bell) peppers, onions, most beans or seaweed/nori.

I MUST find this! For me the dislike of cottage cheese is all about the texture, the taste is just fine. I do rather like ricotta so I'd bet this whipped cottage cheese would be great! Thanks for mentioning this!

i LOVE Greek Yogurt! *shifty eyed* LOL

Sum38 04-09-2013 05:21 PM

Coconut water :tied: or anything "diet"...hate all fake "sugar". Yuck, yuck!!

Missy Krissy 04-09-2013 05:23 PM

Interesting how many people dislike cottage cheese! I like it ok, but I almost never buy it unless I'm planning on making my egg casserole (which calls for it as an ingredient).

Misti - I forgot, I also can't stand kale. Bleck! I'll just stick to my romaine lettuce thank you very much.

Ian - Do you prefer Moroccan or Israeli cous cous? I like both, but my DH can't stand either so I rarely eat it.

Em Coconut - "Anything that lives in water" With a few exceptions, I agree whole-heartedly!

Concerning fat-free or low-fat dressings, I usually stick to my full fat dressings too, I just use less of them. But I do eat other low-fat dairy.

Dude, I should totally food processor the crap out of cottage cheese. Major d'uh-head-smacking moment. Maybe it'll be more bearable that way? Experiment in my kitchen this weekend, woop woop!

I hate plain water with a passion :( I like carbonated drinks as well as flavored water (crystal light) but plain water is horrible...i'd almost rather go thirsty lol

I also don't like quinoa, cous cous, low fat salad dressings, eggplant, squash in any form and plain yogurt of any kind

elvislover324 04-09-2013 05:34 PM

Kale chips is like eating popcorn to me! YUM YUM YUM!! And it has to be home made, don't get any of the bagged ones you find in the store filled with salt and God knows what else. OMG, love it!!

Can't stand cottage cheese, tuna and all seafood, peas, artichoke hearts, eggs, mayo, rosemary flavor, dill flavor (the spice, not the pickle), sweet pickles, sweet potatoes, aioli of any kind, ranch flavor, blue cheese, dark meat chicken/turkey, YUCK!

Keep trying rutabagas and am trying so hard to like them and replace potatoes but I just can't get into them. They are just ok to me.

CanadianCutie 04-09-2013 05:34 PM

I used to like shrimp, but I refuse to eat it after finding out how much of the kind that finds it way here is farmed from spawning pools that can only be used for 7 years before they're too toxic for anything but bacteria to survive in.

thinkfit 04-09-2013 05:36 PM

Wow, all of my big ones were listed already! Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, fish, and most veggies (working on that one!). Ick ick ick haha.

zoritsa 04-09-2013 05:37 PM

Greek yogurt.I try to like it,but I just don't.I don't think it likes me either though.Fat free or low fat cheeses/dressings/dairy/you name it.Quinoa too...just don't like it.

Cali Doll 04-09-2013 06:26 PM

tofu
low fat ricotta cheese
eggs
fish

That might be it. Yeah, I like food. :carrot::D

CIELOARGE 04-09-2013 06:29 PM

I guess I need to change my reply to: Anything FF, LF or Diet... Not just dairy...

Also I extremely hate Ginger... Is just so disgusting to me!!! Yuck!

ChickieChicks 04-09-2013 07:10 PM

Sweet potatoes.

I have forced myself to eat them over a dozen times now...and very time I feel sick to my stomach afterwards. So weird.

I don't do low-fat cheese of low fat versions of anything, but I do love yogurt, even fat free Greek, my fave.

But it was a completely different texture. Made all the difference.
