So disgusting!

  • Well, you know what they say. Those who can't act...
  • There's definitely a misconception that we're overweight just because we have no will power and that if "we really wanted to" the weight would just melt. I also used to smoke (talk about addictive personality traits!), and gave that up. One friend actually said that if I could give up smoking, I could just as easily lose the weight.

The first thing I said was "EASILY?????? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FRIGGIN' MIND?" The caps are because I was probably screaming it at him. It was at least 3 years before I got to the point where I didn't want a cigarette. It's been 15 years since my last one, and I'm one of the lucky ones who don't still crave them. I then pointed out -- probably still shouting -- that you still have to eat. You can't just "give up food."

I have been in situations where I've come across a truly weight bigoted person. And have you ever noticed that the first thing they go for is to make some weight-related insulting comment? My answer, delivered calmly, is that I feel so sorry for them. That always shuts them up because, of course, they think they're in the driver's seat. I tell them that I can lose weight but they'll probably always be a bigoted idiot. I then smile and walk away.
  • His comments say much more about him than what he's actually talking about.

Not to mention he makes a comment about Melissa McCarthy's "short" career, that woman has been in shows a good decade +. That's SHORT?

    He's a freaking moron.
  • Rex Reed is a has-been. No one takes him seriously.

I have loved Melissa McCarthy since Gilmore Girls. She's beautiful and funny. She's been on Letterman a few times since Bridesmaids and is every bit as wonderful as I hoped she'd be.
  • Quote:
Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids) is a gimmick comedian who has devoted her short career to being obese and obnoxious with equal success.
As a long-time fan, since the Gilmore Girls days, I object to this sentence from the article. Her character was not at all obnoxious in that, and GG lasted what, 7 seasons? So she hasn't had a short career. And I don't think she's devoted her career to obesity. She's an obese actress. Her weight never came up in GG and as I recall, it wasn't really an issue in Bridesmaids. You know, like how sometimes people are fat and still go about living their lives and having jobs and so on.

Now, I have to say I find Mike and Molly obnoxious, but that's not because of Melissa McCarthy. I wanted to like that show so much because of her. I haven't seen this movie so I cannot comment on that.

Don't forget about Catholics - another easy target.

    Imagine that hey?
