I've been a hermit for the past 3 days. I'm on book 3 now. The writing is horrid and the author repeats herself over and over and over again, but WHATEVER. It's so addicting. I'm officially in love with a fictional character. Christian is SO controlling though. And the main girl pisses me off, just like Bella.
I can't get Christian off my mind. There's too much sex going on and not enough story development. But WHATEVER! It's addicting, LOL. Ugh, it's stories like this that makes some people have ridiculous standards for men. I now want a loyal billionaire of a bf who's sexy to a fault. Sounds too good to be true. But I want one! |
I only read the first page of this idk it wasn't the best written, but I liked it, i ended up purchasing a riding crop if that says anything>.> hah now I'm reading claiming sleeping beauty by Anne rice uhm yeah it's a little disturbing .

I just finished the first one. SO many things in the story are so unrealistic it's unreadable. I can understand granting some literary license but geez.
*The super clingy emails every other day detailing every feeling she's ever had would put ANY guy off *That scene where he pulled the tampon out of her and they discussed her TOM in such detail. *The rich roomie who puts her up for very little and everyone is cool with it, no tension at all (yet she's supposed to be so independent). *a girl with a english degree from a school noone's heard of lands an entry level publishing job in Seattle, the first job she ever interviewed for in the year 2011. *His family is instantly thrilled that she's dating him. He's a billionaire and she's a recent grad with no job. No gold digger anxiety whatsoever. I could go on but the whole thing was just too ridiculous for words. I thought the book started out fast but I really had to force myself to finish it. A friend offered to lend me #2 and #3 but I'm just going to use the net to figure out how it ends. |
I realised I was in Seattle the day they got together and again the week after... I recognised the dates :p
I'm halfway though the second one and have been enjoying it. Yes some parts are annoying and at times it seems repetitive, but I'm sucked in and enjoying the story. |
Wouldn't waste the money on buying these books. Not because of the content as I've heard they are not dirty but more stupid. To me they are along the lines of the Twilight series...don't get all the hype over vampires and poorly written books.

As for the 50 Shades trilogy, they were ok. The numerous references to Twilight really annoyed me. (yes I know it started as fanfic, but it was supposed to have been completely rewritten into a brand new story) She literally just changed the names of the characters. I also found the whole sex thing a bit, well, dull. Everyone is like 'omg, shhhh it's all about BDSM, can't talk about that... it's porn... blah blah blah', but it's really not at all. I found it extremely tame. For a start, Ana doesn't even engage in any of it, so it's all a hype about nothing. So she get's spanked a little bit and is tied up and blindfolded on a few occasions. Who hasn't been? :p The story could be a really good one. If the author didn't just latch on to the kinky sex theme and run laughing to the bank at first opportunity, the story could've evolved into a more in depth novel. |
12 of 20 moms at the neighborhood pool were reading this book, so I had to see what all the fuss was about... Not my cup of tea.
|
For some reason my STEP DAD suggested that I read this book... Did not understand that at all....
So I started the first chapter or two and was so not impressed by the lack of creativity... in the characters, the writing, the setting... it was just bad. |
what to read after fifty shades of grey
Anything by Nora Roberts is guaranteed to be good. Right now I'm reading His Every Desire by Emma Rose and it's worth a read as well (though it is a bit...descriptive like fifty shades of grey).

I finished all of them and I loved them I was so sad when I finished the last book. I would recommend them to everyone. I have the the grey books but never read them. I have several series I have read since the first of the year I have many favorites. |
I wanted to know what everyone was talking about, so I read about two pages of the Grey book online. Yikes! I've never seen anything so badly written... It was awful. No, didn't like it, won't read any more.
|
I heard Gilbert Godfrey reading it outloud. Omg that nasally voice!! And the writing is awful, I'm sorry puckered nipple? If that's happening you should see a doctor.
|
I have not read it yet, but am thinking of picking it up for a quick, easy read while I'm on vacation in a few weeks.
OMG...Gilbert Godfreid narrating...Yikes! |
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the writing is bad! I miss the days of decent writing!
