What do you buy at Sams or Costco?

  • Just curious to see what everyone else buys in bulk?

Our non food items are diapers, wipes, toilet paper, paper towels.

Food items are frozen mango chunks, yogurt, plain and Greek, string cheese, special k chips, 100 calorie wholly guacamole.

I am also a couponer and an ad matcher so that's the stuff I can't usually find cheaper.
  • We shop at Costco and buy oatmeal, veggies, and panko tilapia--which is our absolute favorite these days.
  • we get all our meats at SAMs - steaks, skinless chicken breast, boneless skinless chicken thighs (love these!), occasional pork loin, lean hamburger. Sometimes I get crab meat (imitation), I get the 2 pack of bread; sarahlee delight 45 calorie, chips for fiancé, veggies & fruits. How is it that the fruits and vegs at SAMs are so much better than Walmart - they're the same company. lol.
I also get Lipton iced tea bags, light ranch dressing, diet dr. pepper, sometimes skim milk if I'm low when we are there. when I'm in the mood for ham lunch meat, I get their 2 pack of Oscar Mayer smoked ham. hmm. frozen 1/2 corn cobs. that's all I can think of right off the bat.
I just recently started drinking coffee so I need to check for the coffee I like and sugar free torani syrups.
I want to see if they have tilapia - I've been getting it at Walmart and it's an okay deal, $12 and we eat it twice (4 people), but I bigger bag would be great.
  • i buy most of our stuff in bulk there because i can repackage it and/or freeze it....i buy meats there, along with bread, cheese slices that i repackage into smaller sizes, fruit, vegetables, dishwash liquid, laundry soap, garbage bags, toilet paper, (used to buy) diapers and wet wipes there, plus items for the kids lunches, like individual yogurts, chips, juice pouches, string cheeses, peanut butter, jelly, coffee, coffee creamer, bisquick....basically i buy at costco anything that we need a big quantity of that will not spoil fast

at walmart i buy the smaller items that we need like packets of seasoning, eggs, milk, butter, frozen veggies, different vegetables, sugar-free juice packets, smaller household items like dogfood, scotch tape, lysol spray, cans of spaghetti sauce, frozen garlic bread etc

at fred meyers here i buy the specialty things that i need from the health food section or that walmart doesnt carry, such as ground pork, pearl barley, walnuts, etc
  • I buy my boneless skinless chicken breasts, they're so low in calories, it's amazing lol. I also buy milk there, because it seems to go bad much later than in little grocery stores. I buy a huge bag of frozen veggies, and cereal, oh and also tomato sauce. It's much cheaper to buy the pack of 6 if you cook a lot with it. I also buy ground veal, and split it up in 5 frozen bags and seal it in the freezer until I'm ready to cook with it.

    I love costco. hahahahaha

edited: EGGS/ definitely worth buying 30 eggs for 5$ LOL Im a baker. So they come in handy.
  • My mom has a sam's club membership which she uses to puschase her food supplies for her preschool. I use to love the hot dog's and the pizza they served there.
  • Costco finally started carrying organic tofu so we buy that. We also buy beer (nice local microbrews), kleenex, coffee beans, frozen fruit, dried fruit, nuts, canned beans, canned tomatoes and laundry soap. We used to buy a lot more at Costco when we ate meat. It's fun to see what everyone else buys.
  • Salmon! I also get my medication there (best price hands down) and my son has a Cheezit addiction. Other than that I'm not huge on buying in bulk because I live in a small condo. I did buy a 42" HD flat screen last year though. I love Costco.
  • At costco I buy:
    white flour
    whole wheat flour
    vanilla
    brown sugar
    almonds
    walnuts
    raisins
    craisins
    cheese sticks
    yogurt tubes (kid lunches)
    sour cream
    cottage cheese
    Parmesan cheese
    cheese curds
    other cheeses (at holiday times)
    frozen fruit
    spinach
    spring mix lettuces
    veggie burgers
    milk
    eggs
    tortilla chips
    salsa
    laundry soap
    dishwasher detergent
    dishwasher rinse agent
clothes (basic jeans/pants and tshirts, socks)
    books

Obviously, I don't buy all of that every month.
