I bought a Samsung Fascinate for Verizon. I don't know much about batteries that would work for it. If you can help that would be fabulous, since it looks like this guy is not going to work with me and I really don't feel like going through the claims process.

As for everything else...we can't get out of the lease. They will let us get out when he deploys this summer/fall but by then we would be on a month to month basis anyway. We can keep up with paying until then but it's going to be tight. If I can find work that will help, but if not then we will just have to stick tight to our budget and pray there are no emergencies ever. Worst case scenario we can ask FIL for money and I know he would lend us some but I always feel lweird doing that since I feel like he blames me for any financial trouble we get into. Hopefully I can find a part time job though because then we would be golden.

And now as if life wasnt punching me enough, the little dog has diarrhea and I had to cut off pretty much all off his but fur because he had poops in it (puuuuuke!). So now he looks stupid.

Worst. Week. Ever. I swear, life waits until DH is gone and then punches me repeatedly.

I agree with Skittlez, I'd take them to court over it. Did they actually sign the lease? You could talk to your landlord so at the very least they don't get their deposit back.

He signed the lease. We put the deposit down, so he wouldn't get that back anyway. I'm a little nervous about losing the deposit over his cat destroying that room.

I would like to take the to court of over it, but I don't want to start sme huge thing between the two guys. They're in the same unit and it would make work pretty awkward for my husband, y'know? I just want him out ASAP if he's leaving, because I don't know how well I can hold my temper. He signs the lease on the 13th so I'm going to see if DH can get one of his friends with trucks to move him out that night. I don't want to wait til the weekend, because his wife come for a visit on the 15th and if I have to deal with both of them in the apartment for two nights I will snap.

Ah ok I'm more familiar with HTC and Apple phones, but Samsung phones are pretty easy to grab batteries for. The $30 price tag is probably the official VZW one, right?

Here are some links:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...attery&x=0&y=0
All amazon listings here should work with your phone, but if you want to be sure, make sure the listing mentions the fascinate. Most of the batteries are CHEAP. You can even splurge and get two, haha. I've bought batteries for samsung phones before (but not the smartphones) and they've worked out great.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...All-Categories
Ebay listings here. Most of them are quite cheap too, but I would go here if you can't grab anything off amazon

IF YOU CAN: see if anyone you know has a samsung phone they aren't using. You might just be able to use that battery.

Thanks for the help with the battery My sister actually used to have the same phone so she's mailing me her old one. Thank goodness for that!

Roommate situation is improving slightly. I talked to our roommates wife and she agreed to pay $250 towards April's rent if we will take him off the lease, so it looks like we'll be doing that. Just have to get both of the men folk to agree. It's not much, but it will get us through April and then we just have May to worry about before DH gets his promotion and then we should be okay.

This whole thing has been a roller coaster.

If you have any issues with the battery that's being mailed to you lemme know. I have a Samsung Mythic that's not being used that may be the same type. I'd be more than happy to check. And it would only take a day or two to get to you from my part of Texas.

I don't know how into breaking your lease you are, but it's kind of easy since you're military. I've had friends break their leases for:
-feeling unsafe
-mold
-wanting to live closer to work
-rent going up
-roommate moving out and not being able to afford rent.

All they ever did was go to housing and tell them the situation and housing wrote them a letter to give to their leasing office to break the lease. Or if your husband has his orders yet saying he's deploying this summer or you can get a letter from his command saying he is, you can take that to housing and they'll give you the paper to break it.

If you're not into any of that, at the very least, get it in writing that's she offering to pay a portion of the rent for April.

I have another question though.. We're Navy, so I don't know if it's any different.. But our housing has rules as far as how much time we spend away from them. How is she getting a house, but going to be spending a year away in school while he's gone? We're only allowed 6 months and we have to get permission for that. If it goes beyond 6 months, they can kick us out and give it to someone else and we'd be put back on the waiting list for when we get back.

Hang in there with this! Can YOU put in for base housing? Military get to break lease without having to pay fees don't they? I could be wrong but my cousin is military and has to change all the time and she never worries about it. She says the apartments let her go without fussing because she's military. It isn't her fault she gets moved around.

A.
Not that easy it has to be written into the lease AND it has to be due to new orders.

It feels dishonest to have them write us a letter out of our lease. We made a commitment and I intend to follow through. This complex has been very kind to us. We have a large dog who is more than twice the weight limit, but they gave us special permission to keep him when we asked. I don't want to screw them over by ditching early, y'know?

As far as rules for on post housing....I could have sworn they had a 90 day limit for how long you could be away, but according to our roommate's wife they said it's fine. It seems a little unfair to me since there will be people on the waiting list who actually need a house to live in, but eh. Not my decision.

As far as making sure they give us the money...we are not taking him off of the lease until he gives us the money and my husband is willing to peruse legal action if he doesn't. I don't think it will be a huge problem though. Our roommate himself is a decent guy. His wife is just kind of strong arming him at the moment because she wants post housing.
