Yeah, another NoCAl girl here. Fast Track is a good back up in these cases.

Now imagine being a toll booth operator
But still, he could have let us know about the toll evasion fee. He said I would be billed for $5, not $30. "oh don't worry about it, you'll get a bill sent to you for the amount of the toll."

Ouch! But at least you know for future reference. My friends and I sometimes call things like these a "stupidity tax." Not saying you're stupid of course, just sometimes we all do dumb things but learn from them

You might want to document that the website says the toll is a different than reality. You might be able to fight that toll evasion fee (I'm not sure how that works in Cali though).

Sounds like you Cali folks have something similar to the EZPass we have in NY. Even if you don't use it all that much it's a worthy investment just so you can speed through the tolls. My mom has one that we used to share because we didn't use the tolls all that much, but whenever we did it came in handy. Now I have my own though because to get to work I have to go over a bridge every day

Two things I know about CA bridges:

1) I had a friend who didn't know there was a toll on the Richmond Bridge. She went right through the toll booth and didn't end up paying anything for it. Not the suggestion I'd have for you though.

2) Another friend of mine came out and missed the toll. He was given the option to just buy the Fastrak pass in place of the ticket. Since he was in the Bay Area and coming out to see his girlfriend in the Central Valley, it was worth it to him. If your husband is looking to get a job in the Bay Area, it might be worth it.

He "doesn't want to think about it right now." It's definitely worth it if he's going to be going there once a week, but knowing him, he'd be too lazy to get one and I'd have to get it for him
