My cousin has 4 children and has a minivan, he swears by it and has kept one for the last 9 years, The 4 boys are 11 through 17 now and still all fit in the minivan
On a side note, I think what you and your husband are doing is absolutely wonderful, cheers to you both!!
OOOoo! I forgot to mention the 4wd issue. I never looked at a mini van because it's winter where I live, I swear like 8 months out of the year. Our lake had ice out on Friday finally. It snowed yesterday, etc, etc, puke puke.
Anyway, my friends with minivans can't get up the hill my driveway goes over.
If you don't have a need for a 4wd, minivans (I've heard) work extremely well for large fams.
I've decided that if the county gives us the 4 we are asking for then I will most likely give in and get a minivan, but I haven't chosen one specifically yet. I don't want to change vehicles until the county says we can have the kiddos (though I see no reason why they won't), but I want to have a plan ahead of time so that I can tell them what my plan is and so that we won't have to spend a lot of time having to take 2 cars for all of us to go somewhere.
bargoo - 2 boys and 2 girls. I don't want to put there names out there until they are ours though.

I understand about the names. I hope they aren't weird names like some of the celebrities do. Mariah Carey named her son Morroccan, and Gwyneth Paltrow named her daughter Apple. I am really excited for you, a big task but it will be so wonderful for you on the love that will be returned to you.

I hope you will hear something positive soon. Also, God bless you for NOT splitting up the family. ITU about not revealing their names, so for me, they are B1, B2, G1 and G2 for the present time.
I still suggest renting different ones for a day or stopping people in parking lots and asking them about their driving experiences.
