Of Bees and Mist by Erick Setiawan. It was a good domestic soap opera

I just started reading the first book in the Sookie Stackhouse series, very entertaining, only 10 pages in and I've already LOL'd for real. Haven been reading much lately so it feels good to sink my teeth into a book (pun intended, hey it's early, I'm allowed).

Just finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society which was a Book Club selection. I found it delightful although I usually dislike novels written in the form of a series of letters. We meet tonight and discuss and I'll distribute the next selection which I'm pretty sure is The Help which could be a bit more meaty.

I loved Guernsey too. The Help was good, I enjoyed it - but I was a little annoyed that the good characters were SO GOOD and the bad characters were SO BAD.

Next up on my Kindle is When I Stop Talking, You'll Know I'm Dead by Jerry Weintraub.

I'd really like to read the Sookie Stackhouse books but don't know where to start. Is there a beginning or can one read them in any order?

alinnell: Dead Until Dark is the first Sookie Stackhouse novel, it's really good!

Right now I just started reading a book called Hungry, by plus-sized model Crystal Renn. She went from being a normal model and really unhappy and unhealthy to being plus-sized and now she's super happy and successful.

I just finished reading Better by Atul Gawande and Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder. I highly recommend both for anyone going into public health/health admin.

What other books are you reading this summer?

I'm currently reading a few books (don't know why I always end up doing that! lol). Black Hills - Nora Roberts, The Chronicles of Narnia - C.S. Lewis (I got one big book at B&N that has all 7 in it , Fearless - Max Lucado (more of a devotional than a novel), and Three Cups of Tea - Greg Mortenson...that last one is taking me a while to read, but it's definitely a good book.
