Well... this wasn't really pleasant, but I'm glad I did it: this morning I had my first "annual" women's health exam in about 5 years (and I'm in public health!). It was with a very nice CNM who made it as comfortable as possible though that's not really possible!
I had a great day! Made a turkey dinner for 16, everyone had enough to eat and the company was excellent.
It was sunny
I washed 2 of the dogs and clipped their hair
We have many blessings but sometimes we get weighed down with the negative.
It's good to take time to share
It's very cold and wet but the house is warm and cozy. I warmed my insides with oatmeal, apple and cinnamon. My gardener cancelled so I can stay indoors all morning. I do pet therapy at the nursing home this afternoon - always a delight. I cut out some quilt pieces in my brand new, well lit sewingroom. Then I sat and sipped coffee and cuddled the dogs.
Today is rainy again today but I don't mind. I am thankful for our lakes and rivers filling up again. I walked 6 miles yesterday in the mist and clouds and it felt amazing. I also have a sick child home today with a low grade fever. I am thankful that we have medicine for her, something to keep her hydrated, a place to keep her comfortable. I am thankful I am not forced to drop her at daycare so I can hopefully keep a job. I am also thankful that there is a doctor 1/4 mile away should I feel the need to see one. I have so many blessings. If I began to list them I don't think I could ever stop.
I am thankful today too for my eyes. Two of my sisters have M.S. and have ongoing vision problems. I am so fortunate that I am able to read today.
I got a great run in at lunch time.
I have a ton of ladies who are about to birth any day now.
And my kids brought home report cards chock full of As & Bs! Plus, they are being challenged and actually LEARNING and are doing great!
EZ: cancer may not be good, but improvements in chemo and other treatments are - there is always hope!
life isn't all bad:
I'm getting ready to celebrate my 45th birthday and 6 years as a cancer survivor : )
I have a roof over my head
I have food in the fridge
I have a good job with great benefits
I have awesome friends!
- DSS got another sheet from daycare yesterday with (almost) all smiley faces, and he hasn't hit another child at school in weeks. Only a few relatively minor 'this is mine, you can't play with it' type fits.
- Found out that my company is going to pay our contract accountant for the three weeks of work that she missed when her house flooded and her mom passed away even though they really don't have to do so. It made me feel good about the people I work for. (She just came on full time from the staffing agency today, AFTER all of the missed time.)
- Could get up today, get dressed and come to work to a job I enjoy when so many people are out of work in GA.
- My brother sent me an email telling me he missed us on the family vacation this year, which is saying a lot since there has been some tension between us this year.
Lots of good things. Some bad as well, but trying to focus on the good today.
--Yesterday was my 9th anniversary with my wonderful hubby. We went on a date alone!
--My kindergartner's whole class stayed on 'green apples' today. Yay!
--My MIL had a dose of chemotherapy with a radioactive isotope today, and she says she's feeling good.
