- Found out that my company is going to pay our contract accountant for the three weeks of work that she missed when her house flooded and her mom passed away even though they really don't have to do so.
Gary - Not able to move home yet. She and her family are still staying with a neighbor. All of her main HVAC components, water heater, all vital household systems were in the basement and have to be replaced. A lot of the wiring was also damaged and has to be redone. They got the water drained out, and she has had contractors there every day working on it. Thankfully, most of them are giving her 45-60 days before they bill her in the hopes that she will have received an insurance check by then. Unfortunately, she had already done a lot of holiday shopping for her son and had stored it all in the basement, along with all of the 24 month and winter clothes she had started saving up. Insurance won't replace any of that... On the upside, she says that the leaky condenser on her AC that had to be recharged every season because they weren't willing to spend the $5k to replace it will be replaced and thus brand new for next summer. Looking for small good things in the situation.
About the best you can I 'spose in her situation...anxiety and worry about the up-coming chemo of course...and knowing that there is a very high risk her type of cancer will re-occur later...
but life is good...she has a lot of support!
And her big brother.... that's me! is going to buy and load an i-pod for her this week-end with Christmas music and Christian songs...along with some Jim Brickman....nice and mellow...happy and up-lifting songs...to pray by....

I had another short day at work so I stopped by Target on the way home and bought a pink 2G i-pod for my sister.
Then I came home and loaded it with a lot of Jim Brickman...we have a lot of Jim Brickman! Several Christian praise CD's and worship hymns, a bunch of Christmas music...we have a lot of that too! ....
And by request of CHELBY my CD of the Bee Gees Greatest Hits...40 songs...and added 72 George Strait...her favorite...although it couldn't fit all of them.
Angie is at a yoga retreat so I had to do it all myself...she taught me how to load cd's and sync them but I put this one on my computer...I didn't know if I could screw something up with a new one...???
Anyway I have been listening to it and it's good....I think she will like it.
Life is good...I was able to do that and still watch my DODGERS win a close one!
I'm glad I can still walk up and down the sidelines and keep defensive stats for my son, (coach) high school football team.
I'm glad for great parents and friends, of coach, who will give me rides to far away games.
I'm glad they won last night. 90-68. 8 man football, it was m ore like a track meet.
I'm glad that future schooling and work transisitions for my oldest son and his wife, , may mean my oldest son may have to stay with us for a few months, and that he's comfortable asking, and I'll be glad to have him.
I'm glad my foster dog is finally getting better emotionally/mentally/self esteem, etc.
We had the ribbon cutting for the new gym and youth center, music dept., library, kitchen, yoga room for Angie and conference rooms at church yesterday....a long time in the making.
Angie got home in time for it from her yoga retreat....
Spent the evening together, after going for Mexican food, re-loading i-pods and loading some new cd's I got while she was gone...
why not...my Dodgers were getting creamed...but ya know what?
