I found a paperback copy of Dan Follett's Pillars of the Earth on a park bench about a week ago. Fun book. Especially if you like history/adventure/romance type stories. Takes place in the Middle Ages in England. (Plus, the price was right!)

It's been a while since I checked in here. I have so enjoyed seeing what others are reading. I've taken many of your suggestions and have read more this summer than I have in years.

I have recently finished:
The Late Bloomer's Revolution by Amy Cohen
While My Sister Sleeps by Barbara Delinsky
The end of overeating by David A Kessler
Shelter Me by Juliette Fay

Up next I have Michael J Fox's book to read.

I am reading The Book Thief - different and very good. I'm about halfway

Other books I've read this summer

Loving Frank
I Know this Much is True (Wally Lamb)
The Omnivores Dilemma
and a nonfiction book about 2 divers who discovered a lost U boat sub from WWII - very interesting, actually
Also a non fiction called, I think, The Wizard of Oz was a Narcissist - about Narcissitic Personality Disorders

Next I'll be Starting Zookeeper's Wife (I think that's the title)

Currently winding up Hail to the Chef by Julie Hyzy. I was getting rid of some clutter in my room and found two books I haven't read yet, Dead Weight by John Francome (a British horse-racing mystery a la Dick Francis, and both Francome and Francis are retired jockeys: aren't there any Americans who write racing thrillers?) and Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, and one of those will be next

Oh gosh, one of my all time favorite books! (and it's Ken Follett ) The sequel [I]World Without End[I] is just as good. I actually listened to both of these on my MP3 player (30+ hours each!), the reader John Lee is great.

It is supposed to be a time travel book.
Have you read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon? There are 5 books, with the 6th due in September. Great time travel/history/romance/just plain fun to read books!

I'm now listening to People of the Book which is very good, and I love the Australian reader. Before that I listened to C. J. Box's Blue Heaven which was quite suspensful, and just a bit creepy. Enjoyed it a lot. I'm reading, or rather I'm rereading, Deborah Crombie's Duncan Kincaid/Gemma James mysteries as she has a new one coming out this fall. Otherwise this summer I've been reading fluff. Most of it I can't even remember the name of - Death by Cashmere was one. I know when I flip to the end that it's time to take the book back to the library.....

Hi chickies I posted this in the General Support forum, but it occurred to me that the avid readers here will probably be able to answer my questions.

As you may know, the Kindle e-reader isn't available in Canada, and I thought I'd be clever and order one anyway, have it delivered to my step daughter in Miami, and have her send it up here to Ontario.

That part all worked fine, but having read some of the Kindle forums at Amazon, I'm a bit worried that you have to have a US credit card, with a US address, to download books.

Any Canadians (or other non-US residents) here have a Kindle? How did it work out for you? I hope I'm not going to have a problem; I'm so excited to get my new toy! I ordered a cute pink cover for it and everything....
