My favs were Edge of Night, All My Children, General Hospital and One Life to Live...that was back in the 80's. I remember watching one of them and something was supposed to happen, this was on a Monday. By Friday it never did show what was supposed to happen...just built it up all week and left me hanging, lol. That was the last time I watched any soaps, I believe it was in 1983, maybe '84/85...been so long I can't remember. But I DO remember Luke and Laura getting married.
I tried to tune in a few years ago to see what it was all about but half the people I didn't recognize so moved on.
