Exclamation CAUTION! Men With....

COUPONS!

When Angie and I first started dating years ago we would cheap-date it a lot, since we were both coming off divorces and the economy at the time was not real strong. We would cut out the 2 for 1 dinners at I-Hop since there was one close to her apartment. After we were married we would come home after church on Sundays and check out the coupons in the paper before we headed off to the grocery store together....our way of ditching the kids for a while . These days I do the grocery shopping most Sundays after church while Angie takes off for a yoga class.

I have the coupon shopping down pretty good now. I usually only use them for stuff I would really buy anyway or for something I want to try. Since I have been shopping with coupons for years I can go through the store fairly quick ....especially if I have a list and my coupons ready.

Well today I noticed at least 7 MEN shopping by themselves using coupons! They looked "lost" I even saw one guy being guided through the frozen food section while the checker explained the coupon to him.

Really strange ....not that I haven't seen guys using coupons before or shopping alone...in fact I usually run into one of my buddies from church that goes after service too...but...

maybe it was a coincidence or maybe it is the way things are going to be now....

anything to save a buck...but if it gets to be a bunch of guys hanging out at the grocery store on Sundays with coupons for entertainment ....well let's just say...

I'm takin' up yoga!

LOL - my brother is the coupon king. His coupon organizer is the envy of many, many women. He has 5 kids and they help with the clipping and sorting.

I don't think it is just a "girl" thing anymore!

my husband would dumpster dive before he'd use coupons I think he's still traumatized that he will not have enough money to pay for the groceries when he gets to the checkout though I explained a million times they take cash, check, debit AND credit cards!

I do see more lost looking guys shopping lately. They couldn't look more frightened than if they were sent to slay the hydra.

Nothing wrong with using coups, Gary... I just hope that those men who are crazily confused don't venture this way. I shop in the afternoon midweek, usually and have to hold off the granny's and slowpokes. I'm like you only use the coups on items I usually buy or want to try. I love going to my Club store and using their coups with my manufacts. coups... double the savings.

My husband's stepmother has a whole bin of coupons. I can't figure out where she gets them all. I clip coupons every week but only for items we use and want to give a try. I also hate how my husband will go the through the coupons to pick out the ones he wants to use and not throw out the old ones when he goes through them. He also gets annoyed because I write a C on my grocery list so I can refer to the coupon while I am shopping. Because if a similar item is on sale it may be cheaper than what my coupon may be. However, I also shop the sales and hit two grocery stores every week.

My father will gladly use a coupon, if I am explicitly giving him one for the only thing that he's supposed to pick up. We don't trust him with most of the shopping - he's a bit of an impulse buyer. The last time I sent him out for rice, he came home with four cartons of Whoppers.

Papa was a big-time saver man. He was the homemaker in our family. If there was a really good sale, he went whole hog. He set up the area under the stairs for all his canned goods and boxed foods. After he passed away, Mom had toilet paper and paper towels for a year on the shelves in the garage. That's LITERALLY a year, no over exaggeration.

PEARY....Oh I don't think there is anything wrong with using coupons...makes sense to me if you use them right...free money...

I just was amazed to see so many men at once using them...not the norm....but maybe it is going to be...

My father never went shopping but I recall him going through the paper and inserts and cutting out coupons and circling things and presenting them to my mother... men are funny creatures. =)

I probably should use coupons but I never have... on that same note I always get irked when I get behind someone in the grocery line and they have 25 freakin coupons! LOL!

It's always when I am in a hurry!

I gave up on coupons a few years ago when I realized that I was clipping them and not using them. Very few of the things I buy have coupons (fresh fruit and vegies? look for a sale instead). Every once in a while I'll get one that is really worth using. And then I forget to bring it to the store. I even have a nice coupon organizer. I really should get back into it. I get at least two coupons circulars every Sunday in the paper. And of course we get stuff in the mail all the time, too.
