Talking Meet and Greet - Location announced!

Okay here it is ladies.....drum roll please.....

Las Vegas Here We COME!!!!!

First and foremost I want to thank everyone for their help and for their opinions. Please do not get upset if you voted for another location. Vegas only won by like 2 votes; however, we can always do another location next time! But this first time will be a great time to get to gether, celebrate each others successes, reward ourselves, have a great time, and meet new people who are fighting the same weight loss battle that you are!

The dates of the trip will be:

May 20-24 of 2010 (Thursday through Monday - a nice long weekend!)

You are more than welcome to book your vacation earlier or stay later if you would like a full week. I think me and my hubby will fly in that Monday and leave the next Monday. So, consider whatever length you like.....if you could at least be there Friday and Saturday I think we will have time to get some dinners, shows, and just time to get to know each other during those days......I understand not everyone may be able to do the whole week...just do what you can!

Here are some hotels to consider:

Wyndham Grand Desert Resort -
1 bedroom suite with King bed, non-smoking, washer and dryer, pull out sofa, mini kitchen, and living area. (off the strip but not too far.....no casino in the hotel so you will have to go else where to gamble) $656.00 for 4 nights

http://www.wyndham.com/hotels/LASGD/main.wnt

Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino
Tropical theme complete with a awesome looking beach. Also has pool, complete spa, lounge and bar, and I think it is near the LAS airport.
$730.26

http://www.mandalaybay.com/

Luxor Hotel and Casino
This hotel had options for an add on that gave $25.00 food and drink credits, $10.00 drink credits, $10.00 slot machine credits, and some other credits too.....it was extra I think $79.00 ....hotel looked nice overall....I didn't get a chance to look and see what attractions and things where around the hotel though....$600.00 for the hotel

All prices are for 2 people in a room, so if you plan on coming alone (which I never recommend traveling alone) then your prices may be cheaper. You can always try to find a fellow 3FCer that is coming to split the bill with and room with...or bring a friend...or hubby...or boyfriend/girlfriend....whatever you like

Keep the feed back coming!

Looking awesome,Melissa! I will see what my hubby can do.. but the military is not all that dependable. We have always wanted to go to vegas.

Is there anyone that would be up for sharing a room with me? Let me know I'm easy to get along with.. i swear! haha

My husband will be deployed then, and I really don't think I'd feel comfortable going alone.

Maybe I can convince my mom to go with me or something, she LOVES Vegas!

It's only a 6 hour drive for me, so as long as nothing big comes up I'll be there. I'd be interested in a roomie as well since hubby will most likely stay back for work and our dogs.

Can't wait!

Awesome. I'll definitely be there - probably by myself, since I like travelling alone.

Sounds good to me but I recommend everyone look up stuff themselves too. You can find good deals and from my experience Mandalay Bay is beautiful but also expensive. The best rates I have seen before when I have gone have been for The MGM and Tropicana. I have also stayed at the Rio but its probably kind of pricey and off the strip. You can usually find hotels under $500 for 4 nights. I know hotels.com is usually pretty cheap.

Sounds fun but between food, hotel, transportation and shows I think it may be a little to pricey for me and I didn't even include gambling!

Sounds fun! I'm thinking about planning this trip as a solo one (DB travels for work in May) so I might be willing to have a roomie as well. If anyone else is interested and looking to save money we might even be able to book more than 2 people to a room. It's much cheaper that way, and unless you're bringing a SO people don't usually go to Vegas for the hotel room

Oooooooooo A meet N greet! My Dh and I were planning to head to Vegas some time.

I'll have to chat with him

But It'll depend on our financial situation as well. My BF is getting married in November '10 and I'll be a brides "maid"... Meaning money will be tight. We'll be staying in Ontario for a few days. But I'm sure we can work it out by then

Just an FYI for Canadian Chicks: Passports will cost you around $98.00 (for the 24 page... I think it was $150 for the 48 page) after the application , it "usually" takes 2 - 3 weeks to get. In fact I got mine within ONE week! I got mine in June for our August vacation in Hawaii.

I am SOOO there! I don't think my hubby will go... ? I'll check with him but I also may be looking for a roomie! I like to "party it up" when I'm in Vegas a couple nights and am very laid back. If you're like me, let me know!

And yes, check out other hotels too. I've been to Vegas a few times and by using the different internet sites, expedia, orbitz, hotel.com ... you can get some really good rates when combining flight and hotel! OH OH OH! I can't WAIT!

AND......... Who is up for Thunder From Down Under with me?!?!?!?!?!?!

Check out allegiantair.com for really good deals. They don't fly out of every city, but even if you have to drive to an airport further away it might be worth it. They usually book out about 4 months in advance. Seriously, last December my husband and I went for 3 nights at the MGM Grand and the total including the flight was $500.

Getting to Vegas and staying there can still be fairly inexpensive.

There's another website called traveladviser.com that has a Las Vegas message forum and the posters are usually pretty friendly. The site itself has some pretty good info.

Sounds fun!

Might have to count me out though. I anticipate May 2010 to be a busy month. BF (and I) should be graduating and hopefully a wedding soon afterwards. I should probably save for all that instead.

But we'll see. It's a ways away.

Hey....you all let me know if you find other nice hotels with good deals.....put the name of the hotel on here with a link to the place so we can look at pictures and stuff....I guess we don't all have to say in the same place....but wouldn't it be nice if we could all stay at the same hotel......we could stay up all night down at the casino or the lounge.....go out to eat together...hit the gym......just sit around and talk girl talk....I can't wait it is gonna be so much fun!

Everyone just see what deals they can find on hotels and post them here.
