My Sister's Keeper is one of my favorite books!!! It's what got me started on a Jodi Piccoult kick. I actually even bought "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" which was another good read because Jodi Piccoult had a quote on the back cover saying something along the lines that she wished she had written the book. I have "The Pact" and "Nineteen Minutes" still to read.
I bought a book the other day at Target called "The Next Thing on my List" that I haven't started yet, but sounded pretty good. It's about a woman who is in a car crash that kills her best friend. So, the woman who survived finds a list of things that the woman who died wanted to do in her life. As an honor to her friend, she tries to finish the list. Sounded interesting. |
The Pact was the book that made me a Jodi Piccoult fan. It is heart rending. I think I've read all of her books now, with only a couple that I wasn't crazy about.
Twilight series is about vampires. Oh, and Glory, I think I've given up on the Host. I'm having much too much fun reading Jen Lancaster!!! I keep laughing out loud while reading that and then have to read it outloud to my husband (who doesn't seem to find it as funny?!?!) |
allinell have you ever read the stephanie plum series from janet evanovich? I love love that series..
vampires .. i am not really into. what ages would you say that twilight series is good for. My daughter is a little book worm like me.. |
belinda~the only one of Janet Evanovich's books I read was the very first in the series. I figured I ought to start there. I enjoyed the book, but it was kind of simplistic. My son liked it--I think he thought it was funnier than I did. I think I prefer the Kinsey Milhone series by Sue Grafton better.

I have never heard of that series? whats it about?
|
Omg..I loved My Sister's Keeper!!! I've never cried so much while reading a book before.
|
Oh, Janet Evanovich is my favorite author. I love the Stephanie Plum series! I had been telling my mom how great those books were and she was skeptical until a friend of hers had them on vacation. She ended up reading the first five on her trip! They're not deep, just fun, light reading.
I'm starting My Sister's Keeper tonight...I hope it's as good as I think it will be! |
one of my best friends got me hooked on the stephanie plum series.. I love all the craziness in it!! I can't wait till she comes out with the next one.
almost done with Lipstick Jungle.. then its probably going to be a dean koontz book.. i got a few from him this weekend at the book store. |
Hey Allison - I find Jen Lancaster laugh out loud funny too. There's some great scene in her first book where she's running around with a laundry basket on her head because she's afraid of a bat getting in her hair - hilarious!
I finished Made in the USA and felt like it was two completely different books smushed into one book. On one hand, there's some very graphic stuff about drugs, homelessness and pornography. On the other hand - the circus! |

I read that Plum Spooky comes out in Jan 6th..and Foul Play comes out Oct. 28!!
I really liked The Memory Keeper's Daughter. Another good book to read is The Time Traveler's Wife. |
I've just finished 'Black ships' by Jo Graham, fantastic book. I haven't found a book that I refused to put down in a long time, but this was it.
Now... onto my otori clan book 3 :) |
I loved the premise of the Memory Keeper's Daughter but I didn't LOVE the actual book, I thought it was kind of blah. But one part did suprise me.
Who said they were reading Needful Things? I loved that book and just caught some of it on TV this weekend...made me want to re-read some classic Steven King stuff. I could read the Stand over and over. I read Target...I can't remember who by. It's about a teenage boy who was grabbed and raped by two men and he goes back to school and has to learn to move on and cope. It's so heart wrenching. I bawled through it too. I'm reading "how to be Cool" right now. Plus sized girl, loses weight, gets beautiful and teaches a class on how to go from dork to diva, loser to winner. But she still holds on to the "fat girl" image of herself, low self esteem, etc. So far, easy read, likeable characters. Light reading. Here's a good question to you readers? Do you ever go to the library and choose a book just because it looks interesting only to realize later that you've chosen a book from a completely un-like-you genre? I just read "Leave it to Claire" really enjoyed it, and I don't usually choose Christian literature, but it's not the first Christian novel I've read, I just wouldn't have chosen that on purpose, but it was nice. Once I chose a gay/lesbian fiction novel and didn't think that was too bad either. And once I picked a book that had a picture of a GORGEOUS African-American man on the cover and it was "urban" fiction, and the rawness of the language was really interesting to read!!! But I wondered if I would get looks if anyone saw me reading that one! :p |

Yes..I've actually done that a few times. I once picked up this book that was in the Mystery section and only to find out that it was really Sci Fi, lol. I didnt realize it until dh pointed it out to me. It was soooooooooo good though, lol. And right now I'm reading a historical fiction & a Christian book. I never thought I'd read either of those, lol. |
