One thing I would add is to make sure you are getting enough iron! Given that you have been bleeding for so long, I'd take an iron supplement until the situation has been under control awhile. No need to have female problems and anemia.
It sounds like you are fairly young. I know my periods didn't regulate themselves until was in my mid-20's, so it may just be a combo of normal hormone issues and your body reacting to the depo. Hang in there! You'll get this resolved!

Oooh, yes, good advice. When I had my 6-week period, I was already taking iron.. I was in the process of trying to find something, *anything* to fight my mysterious fatigue. Turns out, quitting depo cured it! Anyway, I recommend the slow-release iron, much gentler on your digestive system. Target makes their own brand that's a lot cheaper than the name brand "Slow-Fe" stuff.
I've been feeling a bit faint lately so I'll definitely check out the iron!
The appointment was shockingly fast and didn't really help much. As soon as I mentioned "Depo" my doctor put it off on that - and didn't even do an exam (which makes me a little uneasy since my mom had a very large history of cysts and my sister is having a LOT of trouble with infertility). I'm scheduling an appointment with someone for an annual as soon as I get home to AK, where my boyfriend can go with me.
Until then, he gave me a prescription for Yaz which I haven't filled yet. I had the pharmacy here price quote it for me, and after my insurance it's still 60 dollars - which I can't afford right now.
The bleeding has stopped, which is good, but I'd feel a lot better if I had a definitive reason for why it started and LASTED in the first place. Hopefully I can make it another 6 weeks until I get home.
Thanks everyone so, so, so much for the advice and encouragement - it all really helped. Have a safe 4th of July!
My body did STRAAAANGE things on it. Including gaining 70 lbs and could NOT LOSE THE WEIGHT! Once I stopped, I was able to drop the pounds faster. But my god, I thought i was going to bleed to death. I had a period off and on (like one day on two days off, three days on, one day off etc) for about 2.5 months! Finally once the Depo got out of my system, I started to regulate better.
IN fact the doctor put me on birth control pills to help even me out better. That might be your best bet for a few months until your body's hormones start to regulate again.
Was put on YAZ and it made me extremely sick for three days, so I quit taking it. Had a four day break - and started my period again heavier than ever before. Found a new doctor. Taking triple dosage of hormones for the next three days to stop the bleeding, and going in Monday or Tuesday for an ultra-sound, pap, and all that fun stuff to find out why this is all happening.
Feeling very weak, on bed rest and throwing up every few hours from hormones. Probably won't be posting on 3FC for a while.
