  • I especially hate it when they bring in 'player-commentators' in during the playoffs. Eric Byrnes last year.. Seeing the player-commentators conjures up nightmares of hearing Bret Boone (who was announcing the game) screaming Thats My Brother... That's My Brother.. OMG That's My Brother... they quickly cut off his microphone.. because his brother was Aaron (ruin my life) Boone...and if you remember, in 2003, Aaron Boone hit the ACLS game 7, 11th inning homer for the Yankees off of my sweetie, Tim Wakefield.... urghhh bad memories... but they were quickly turned around in 04' sorry... I'm tonight.
  • Grrr I hate it when the bases are loaded in the bottom of the 9th and they can't even get one run to tie it.

Oh well bring on the Dodgers and the Manny roadshow. We're ready for you I think!

I'm going to the game Wednesday.
  • Gosh, gone for a couple of days and I'm so far behind. Glad the Rockies got a win... SINCE IT WASNT ON TV, I heard it on the radio. Whatever!!!

Gary, the Dodgers look like geniuses with this Manny deal. Glad he's benefiting your club!!!
  • Alright so quick question to those baseball fans here! I have seen the Twins and the White Sox wearing these necklaces that look almost like the glow necklaces made out of shoelace. I mean the fabric looks like shoelaces, but they are stiff. They have little tags that say the team name on them. The only thing I can think of is that they are a modified "cooling" necklace. Any thoughts as to what they are?

Aww, Clydegirl, I saw the end of that game, that was a heartbreaker...
  • SEPHYFOWL I was curious about those necklaces too... Seems like a lot of the players are wearing them, especially the pitchers... I found this !

One of these days I'll learn how to shorten the name of these links...
  • Hadn't noticed those necklaces SEPHY

MANNY IS ON FIRE! look out BIG BIRD!

SKIP CARAY was one I liked...sorry for his death. Back before more games were on TV I would watch the Braves here against the DODGERS or anyone else really.

I am 54 years old and have had only one announcer (plus his sidekicks) in all my years..the greatest ever VIN SCULLY!

RAZZ we have 8 games coming up with the Phillies...we might help you out!

We have a tough road for the next 20 games...mostly winning teams...the poison have the next 20 pretty easy....that might be the difference right there in the season.
  • I thought I would post this link on the Little Leaque World Series. I LOVE watching the games... those boys and girls are so good !! Between my Red Sox games, the olympics and the LL WS... I may have to break down and buy a TIVO... Or quit my job...

Caroline get a TIVO. They are the greatest thing since sliced bread!
  • SWEET-C we are big Little League fans around here! My son has VHS tapes from when he recorded Chris Drury (professional hockey at one time with the Sabres) pitching in the LLWS.

We have been fortunate here in recent years. I live in Oceanside, CA our local boys went to the WORLD SERIES in 2001...they lost 1-0 to that Danny Almonte kid, that was later proved to be older ~ we knew boys on that team, I coached a couple of their older brothers when they were in Little League.

Then in 2005 the town next to me, a mile away and where my church is and our school district is, Vista, our Rancho Buena Vista League team went to the WORLD SERIES. We knew several of those boys, their sisters played with my step-daughter in softball.

It was way fun those years because we knew kids that made it to THE SHOW!
  • Thank you SweetCaroline. So exciting the Twins took the lead! HOORAY..

Yeah those Dodgers are doing great with Manny. I am going go with Bert Blyleven as my favorite announcer, but I haven't been following baseball closely enough to really know a lot of them. lol

I need to get a TiVo too! I miss a lot of sports events.

EDIT: I need to learn how to be patient at the plate like Mauer.. lol
  • Gary looking forward to a good series against the Dodgers.

We have severe weather in the area tonight so there may be some delays.

Chris Carpenter is taking the mound tonight. It's his first home start since he went on the DL last year opening day. I don't know how long he will go in the game, maybe around 80 pitches.

WOW... you two are going head to head... this should be interesting... Good Luck !! play nice..

BILL... or other Boston/NESN viewers.. Do you know where Tom Caron, Eck, Rice and other NESN hosts are ? I'm a woman, but these 3 women are driving me crazy... I need my Eck fix... I know that Hazel Mae 'is no longer with us' but where the heck are the rest of them ? anyone ?
  • Bad....er....I mean good luck tonight BIG BIRD I am watching on the computer gamecast ~ I have the Padre-Mets on TV. Since I am in Padre land and didn't order the MLB channel this year I don't get my DODGERS on TV much. Angie and I are making an additional $$$ commitment to church, for the next 3 years, on a new building we are having built. This was one of my personal expenses to give up as a personal sacrifice for our family budget.
  • We finally beat the lousy Padres!! Though still managed to make it way more interesting then necessary. A 6-2 lead into the 9th becomes a 6-5 gm after a walk, dropped pop up and 3 run HR. We needed 3 relievers to get through the 9th inning. But a win is a win, hopefully they can keep it up.
