Red face What to do on Maui.

My husband and I will be celebrating our 1st year anniversary in Maui Hawaii. And as we've never been there before - does anyone have any suggestions for activities out there that you have enjoyed while visiting (or living) in Maui?

We may fly down to the big island to see Volcano's National Park - but not sure yet. Depends on how much flights are.

I work for a company that plans a lot of trips for our clients. This is one of my favourite resources:

Have an excellent time in Maui!

I used to live in Hawaii. Whale watching is amazing. Be careful about going to the big island cause the fumes are toxic right now. The volcano national park is so amazing too. Can I come with you? Just leave me wherever, I won't follow you guys I swear!!! lol. You'll fall in love with hawaii. It literally isn't like anywhere you've been. I can't remember but there's a hiking trail you can go on (on maui) and you can see two other islands when you're up there. It's pretty neat. Can't remember the name of it, sorry. Hope you have fun. If you end up going to Oahu (that's where I'm from), you'll have a ton more to do there too. Polynesian Culture Center, beaches, the night life in Waikiki, Hanauma Bay (you get to swim with the fish), the flea market at the Aloha Stadium, The Aloha Market Place, concerts, sooo much. Man, if you lived closer to me I would give you some money to bring back some stuff for me. My best friend here is from Maui and I'm messaging her asking her what there's to do on Maui. I'm waiting for her to write back and let me know. She's not responding so her boss probably came in. But that's all I can think of right now. Hope you have fun though.

Another thing that might help is go to the KCCN on the website and listen to live radio. That's the radio station there and you might get ideas from there.

And you must take the drive to Hana , but take my advice and hire a driver who has experience driving to Hana.

Agree with Bargoo. Drove ourselves to Hana. Bleeeegh.

MUST do Old Lahaina Luau. Don't do any other luau--this is the authentic, original luau. Beautiful!

Snorkeling is a MUST. Take the snorkel cruise that goes out to Molokini (the crescent-shaped island that is mostly submerged). You will see the most incredible fish; fish you can't even imagine! I actually saw a plaid fish!

We've been there twice, and it is every bit as beautiful and amazing as you imagine. Enjoy!

We were just there for a few days at christmas before going to kauai. Previously we stayed in Maui for 1 week. So many great things to do. Catamaran snokel tours are one of my favourite. Buy a tour book there are great drives not just to Hana but drive West as well there are beautiful short hiking trails to get to great lookout spots. The drive to Hana is beautiful and you don't need a driver just a tour book. Be prepared for some traffic- Maui has become very busy!!!!

My brother lives on Maui and I've been several times. Watching the sunrise from Haleakala crater is a must. I hate waking up at the crack of dawn, and the drive is annoying, but the beauty of it is like something you will never see again. The road to Hana is also something worth doing. We would camp right along the cliffs once we got past the town of Hana. I love thrift stores and they have some of the best I've been to. If you enjoy wine, they have a great winery. My very favorite thing to do is drink a beer while the sun sets, I never missed a sunset! There are many tourist booths with info to help you out once you get there. The beauty and culture of the island is amazing. Enjoy your time, I hope you love it as much as I do!

ok, my friend said snorkeling, drive to Hana, helicopter ride, visit iao state park, Lahaina Luau, camp at haleakala (beautiful sunrise), ride into haleakala crater, horse trail ride, Lahaina train ride, and as for the night life on Maui everything closes at 2 am. Hope that helps.

We just went to Maui in January and discovered its a perfect setting to reset and relax. It was our pre-honeymoon LOL. We had a quiet time but two activities we did and I would highly recommend is the snorkelling. This company is more expensive but they don't take out as many people - we only had 12 on our trip I think the max is 30. I personally wouldn't pay the extra for the snuba and definitely pay for the wet suit.

We also went out on the America's Cup yacht to watch Humpback whales - if you enjoy extreme sailing this might be an adventure for you

This is also a great website with fabulous reviews it really helped me plan our trip

Do you know where you are staying? We have always stayed in Kehei - and quite like it.

Bottom line - HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!

Sorry to steal the thread a little bit, but anyone know anything about the Big Island? I am going to be there for 10 days in October for my honeymoon (I'm counting the days! No vacation for me until then, but I can't wait!) I've done a lot of research already, and I know I definitely want to go visit the volcanos, and I think I might try snorkeling. We are staying in Waikoloa (spelling?) but will have a car so we can travel around the island. Any suggestions would be awesome!

Tamaralynn - I hope you and hubby have a great time in Maui!

We went to Maui on our honeymoon. We stayed in Lahaina and it was awesome. We went on a sunset dinner cruise and SNUBA diving (didn't require certification). It was amazing! I highly recommend the SNUBA diving. It was great!
