Default Michigan Weather

Okay...so, in my quest to consider Michigan as my future home, I'm worried about tornadoes. Does this happen often in Michigan? Around the northeast suburbs of Detroit? OMG...that would be just my luck, moving from an area where we get really weak thunderstorms as the most severe and I'll have my house destroyed by a tornado my first week living in Michigan. ...it would happen to me...

Wow,

I would've never imagined tornadoes in Michigan. The only thing I know from Michigan and the person who I know lives there is that they say they feel snowed in from basically December to sometime in March. They also kind of live in the boonies though. I imagine if you live in Northern NY that you are used to lots of snow throughout winter though.

I've lived here 10yrs this year and only once did we have to go to the basement because of one being spotted near us. But nothing happened. Atleast ya have basements here.
