$3.86 here in Virginia... 20 minutes away from an Amoco oil refinery...and going up every day.

I so feel for people who have long commutes to work. At least more people are carpooling now.

Barely. This morning, gas was $1.37 per litre. A gallon is equal to 3.79 litres, so that makes it ..... $5.19 per gallon. I wish we were on Richmond's price.
If you also consider the fact that Canucks that make $50,000 per year bring home approximately $5,000 LESS in after-tax money than their US counterparts, that only adds insult to injury.

murphmitch 07-07-2008 03:59 PM

$3.83 this morning. Dang, it was $3.79 for several weeks.

zinkemomx2 07-07-2008 04:11 PM

Jumped to $4.34 here today.

Tomato - I am so sorry! Do you have a long commute to work? What kind of mileage does your vehicle get??

Fortunately not, it's about 13 km one way (i.e. 8 miles and a bit) and I drive a Toyota Matrix so it is not too bad but still, it cuts into your budget. $25 at a pump gets you nowhere and when I think that for that kind of money, I used to be able to get a full tank (of course years ago).
But of course, than there is the price of gas reflected in everything else - groceries, for example. I live on my own so its only one salary to finance the mortgage, car loan, property taxes and everything else. Property taxes also keep going up like crazy, I now pay $50 more a month than I was 2 years ago. It just all adds up.

3 Keiko, yeah, I know that it is even worse than here in B.C. I am careful and always buy gas when the price goes down a bit but that's really not helping much - I save maybe a $1.50 that way. But out of a principle, I watch the prices like a hawk and once it is down for a day, I fill up.

sotypical 07-07-2008 06:37 PM

It was only 141 last week :( Thankfully I haven't had to fill up yet... but I am really considering just filling up when I reach a quarter tank! lol

I work 30km each way from home... so 60km a day!
I have been taking the city bus! $60 a month compared to over $60 a week! At least there is a bus!

tamaralynn 07-07-2008 07:05 PM

$1.37 here as well in Calgary. As Tomato said... $5.19 OUCH

DH filled up two days ago for $60... out already.

Thank god I take transit... $80/month.

walking2lose 07-08-2008 12:27 AM

Tomato - yea for the Matrix! I have one as one and love it. But yeah, you sound like you are really being squeezed in so many economic ways! Is it possible for you to take a roommate to help with the bills?

Hang in there! This might get worse before getting better, but it's got to get better eventually!

mrsaugie 07-25-2008 10:05 PM

we went from about 4.10 down to 3.89 in roughly the last week and a half most of it this week. hopefully this is asign of things to come.

murphmitch 07-25-2008 10:08 PM

Down to $3.67 here.

Clydegirl 07-25-2008 10:16 PM

I was shocked when I saw it was down to $3.88 a gallon here.
