  • Quote: Thank you Bargoo....I hope she will always think so!

We will be picking her up at 5:45, hard for me to wait another hour

Angie and I picked her up a cute little outfit last night on sale for the Halloween season. Orange shorts and a black top with a cute pumpkin face on it....picked up a few toys, great condition at the consignment store too....then walked over to Toys R Us to look around at the "possible" Christmas toys....

I have been real good about not over-buying!!! and making small deposits into an account for ALL grand-kids....on weeks I am working!

The economy is all ready hurting my FUTURE Grandchildren
Your grand-children are getting something better than money....they are getting lots of love.
  • Breakfast with the kid was way cool. Several of our friends were in there, some had not seen her at all and others for a couple of months....she was the belle of the ball!

AND she behaved super well...but she was just about ready to "blow" just as we finished her nap was about 10 minutes passed due...we hustled outta there....

no reason for anyone to see her in her "cranky I need a nap and I need it NOW!" state...

    that just wouldn't do....

after all she has a reputation to try and live up too...

the one her Grandpa is setting....

    The perfect child!

I know it's not fair but.....

    too bad so sad!!
  • In my next life, I want to be one of EZ's grandchildren.

In my current life, things are good and I'm enjoying snuggling into my nice warm house on a cold, wet and windy Sunday. Too bad I have to go out to Church in a half hour!

Works for me RUTH but I gotta warn ya....

yesterday she was the only one that got a bit cranky and needed a nap....

at my age many times that is me

so if you can play quietly.......
  • Am I crazy or what ? I have invited my family for Thanksgivng dinner .
I have numerous boxes still needing to be unpcked
My good china is in these boxes...somewhere
I have no dining room table or chairs
    One guest eats no sugar
    One guest eats no wheat
    What about pumpkin pie ?
    What about Bread stuffing ?
What about hot dinner rolls ?
  • Because we have your normal divorced/dysfunctional family with extended families of moms/dads/grandparents/etc and because every other major holiday is held at my home for everyone, we have given up Thanksgiving Day for the Friday or Saturday depending on all the kids schedule...

NOT THIS YEAR!!! Angie says it has been at least 14 years since we had it here on Thanksgiving Day...

she demanded it be here this year...and as always she got her demand met...

Guess who the BOSS of our family is?...extended or not!

It will be an WEST COAST vs. EAST COAST SHOWDOWN!!

    I will explain later....

    off to church soon.
  • Canadian T-Day has come and gone but I still will be having a Thanksgiving Dinner here next Sunday for my "girls" group - two widows, two single parents, five noisy kids and three extra dogs! We get together once a month and share the cooking - and the nagging of the kids re table manners. The dogs are better behaved than the kids, of course.

Need my 2 spoiled ones to balance the group RUTH?
  • Boo!
  • Quote: Boo!
Guess who sneaks in to remind us with her BOO....

    that it is still season.....
  • Quote: Boo!
Where have you been ? Haven't heard from you in a long time .
  • Quote: Boo!
My goodness - what a pleasant surprise. Hope all is going well with you.
  • Ok now back to Turkey....

Never explained the EAST COAST vs. WEST COAST Thanksgiving.

Most holidays/BBQ's are celebrated as a family here at my house. Our children/nephew do see the "other side"on those days sometimes too at some point. We do pretty well "sharing".....

except the GRANDdaughter sometimes she ends up missing...later found at Grandpa's...wink

Anyway, for the last 13-14 years or so we have let the kids do the "other side" on Thanksgiving Day. Then we do ours as a family on Friday or Saturday.

It usually works out ok, sometimes Angie and I do a 5K that morning....no big deal.

Well this year my step-daughter's boyfriend will be here (should be)...he is moving out here and is doing a little dragging of the feet (not w/o reason! but that's not my problem and I try to stay out of step-kid drama these days!!)...

Anyway, he said he wanted to wait until after Thanksgiving because we...WE here on the west coast don't know how to do Thanksgiving!!

I guess I should remind he is from Long Island, New York.

So, I asked my step-kid, who has had Thanksgiving a couple of times with them when she didn't come home from college, how it was...

she said it was OK but nothing exceptional. She said ours is much better and he will love it.

I asked her if his mom/dad did scalloped potatoes and she said that compared to mine she wouldn't call them that!!

That's all I need to know!! lol

Anyway, Ang says she isn't going to change things just for the BF...

however she "demanded" nicely from all the kids that she wanted Thanksgiving with them on Thanksgiving Day just because it has been so long...

but I'm thinkin' she is gonna try and show off....and all I have to say to that is...

    IT WORKS FOR ME!!
  • Go for it Angie ! Show that kid that we know how to live on the West Coast, too......and we don't have to shovel snow....so there !
