I adore strawberries but we won't have any until the end of June. The Florida ones are (IMHO) much better in flavour than the CA ones. Distance?

Hey! Because we are iced in, Church has been canceled. I'm going to make like a pagan and soak in a hot tub for a while before I tackle removing the ice from my car so I can drive it into the barn.

EZMONEY 03-06-2011 08:36 AM

My daughter in law is a strawberry eating fanatic....

went to church last night just in case it snowed....

it did once...in '69

enough for a solid 4 inch snowball....

all of the kids on the block gathered high and low for that one!

Distance is great for me - from the field to the roadside stand to me. :p

Or if that's too far, to the field to pick them. Rinse then eat. Mmmmmm!

Ruthxxx 03-06-2011 09:12 AM

*** Sigh *** Got a spare bed? There is a 12" drift of snow blocking the door to my back deck and not a strawberry in sight!

WebRover 03-06-2011 10:03 AM

The strawberries are great! But if you like apples, you can rarely find a decent one in Florida.

.

What do you mean Florida strawberries are better than California strawberries ? I beg to differ , the best strawberries come from Watsonville , California.

Ruthxxx 03-06-2011 12:59 PM

Maybe if you live in CA. Up here, however, the CA ones look great in the shops but don't have the taste of the Florida ones. I think it's jet lag.

BillBlueEyes 03-06-2011 01:33 PM

So I bought a 2 pound clam of them.

WebRover 03-06-2011 03:07 PM

Any left?

(Just got back from the movies - Saw Unknown with Liam Neeson & Diane Kruger. It all takes place in Berlin and was good.)

BillBlueEyes 03-06-2011 03:49 PM

And I will eat 2/7 ths of a pound per day this week.

EZMONEY 03-06-2011 04:18 PM

I was 4/5th good and 2/3rd bad this morning.....

WebRover 03-06-2011 04:38 PM

4/5= 12/15
2/3 = 10/15

12/15 + 10/15 = 22/15

22/15 = 1.466666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666 6666666667

Someone is 1.46 something today for sure.

6/17ths of me resembles that remark :)

WebRover 03-06-2011 05:29 PM

Mumbles - more like 17/6ths. :)

Operator265 03-06-2011 05:50 PM

Knock it off with the freaking Maths dammit!!! I'm outta school today!!! (Like my British accent putting the "s" there after Math?)

WebRover 03-06-2011 06:31 PM

Just start having fun <grumble> <grumble>

Tried crispy kale today for the first time. Very tasty.

Ruthxxx 03-06-2011 06:38 PM

I ate some FL strawberries and made six chicken pincushions today. Beat that!

(I also fixed my frassing sump pump and rescued my car from inside a shell of ice!)

Gimme SPRING! :encore:

Operator265 03-06-2011 06:49 PM

BTW, Ruthie, do Canadians put an "s" at the end of Math too? And, of course, I must add, it's "Aluminum" you metallurgic weirdos.

Are you making so much money that you need more than one purse to hold it all ?

That long ?

bargoo 03-08-2011 07:52 AM

All right everybody , time to get up !!

Karen31 03-08-2011 09:35 AM

Ruth, Super cute pin cushions! My Aunt would love those! It must be nice to have talent. I ended up getting my Mom's sewing machine after she passed away. I took it in and had it cleaned and checked out and everything adjusted that should be. And I haven't touched it since. That was several years ago! I am just so "scared or intimidated" by it I guess. And she was a great seamstress. I guess I just need to jump in with both feet. I am sure it would be fun once I got past the first step.

BillBlueEyes 03-08-2011 09:42 AM

I ate nine strawberries with my oatmeal this morning.

How many strawberries?

We're keeping accurate count.

Operator265 03-08-2011 02:28 PM

I ainna counting jack squat unless I get extra credit points towards my Financial Math grade.

WebRover 03-08-2011 07:32 PM

Ahhhh. The chicken pincushions are uber cute. I wasn't sure whether they were something to eat or real pincushions til I saw the picture.

I had blueberries with breakfast. Probably strawberries tomorrow. Not counting either. Going by approximate volume.

BillBlueEyes 03-10-2011 05:02 AM

I remove the stems first.

Ruthxxx 03-10-2011 06:49 AM

And the calyx too, I hope.

BillBlueEyes 03-10-2011 07:11 AM

I remove the calyx second.
