Hey guys! Ok, I saw on the Food Network the other day Rachel Ray making a Spaghetti Squash dish. It looked great so I went out and bough a Spaghetti Squash last night and was going to try making a meatless spaghetti sauce to go with it tonight and was wondering if anyone else had tried using spaghetti squash in place of pasta. I was so amazed to see that after it is cooked and shredded it looked EXACTLY like spaghetti noodles! Just cuirous if anyone had any tips on the subject. Thanks!
I had this for dinner last night! I used the squash as noodles and then added a homemade marinara sauce and some soy meatballs. I am not a squash fan, but the spaghetti squash doesn't have too much flavor. I always rinse the "noodles" in cold water, which helps separate them and make them taste even less like squash. I think it's a pretty good substute and is also pretty versatile.
I love spaghetti squash. I like to cook it and it eat plain with just butter (fat-free butter spray) and salt. And I always have it with cottage cheese. I like mixing them together, as gross as that may sound.
I just got done having it with some homemade meatless spaghetti sauce... OMG! It is FANTASTIC! I wish I had known about this stuff sooner! Thanks guys for the tips. I think I will be using it alot more now.
lol... actually, I had that same problem so I just had my hubby do it. I think Rachel Ray has some tips on how to cut it without killing yourself on www.food.com
