Can anyone recommend any good breads out there - preferable low calorie and/or low carb - without high fructose corn syrup? I was looking at the nutritional info for Weight Watchers Whole Wheat Bread, and noticed that one of the first ingredients listed was high fructose corn syrup?
I haven't really been eating bread, and sticking to low cal wraps when I want to make a "sandwich." My latest favorite brand for a wrap is La Banderita
Soft Taco Fat Free Tortillas. However, I have really been craving a peanut butter sandwich. I could put peanut butter on a wrap, but that doesn't sound so tasty to me. I was thinking about going to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's and getting some natural unsweetened peanut butter, but I don't know what kind of light healthy bread to buy.
I love buying Arnold's Sandwich Thins but I like Ezekiel bread too. Any of the sprouted grain breads are good choices. I also buy Trader Joe's regular thinly sliced whole wheat bread and their low carb tortillas.
Trader Joe's Valencia peanut butter with sea salt is THE BEST.
Munchy - I get the Arnold sandwich thins too...they actually would be good with peanut butter. Thanks for the Trader Joe's peanut butter suggestion too - it sounds delicious!

All these breads to try! What is a "sprouted" bread? Why is it healthier than regular bread?
I also like the 100 cal sandwich thins. They are Orowheat brand where I live instead of Arnold's. In some parts of the country the brand name is Brownberry. That company (Orowheat aka Arnold's aka Brownberry) makes a whole bunch of breads with no HFCS.
It's a bit higher in calories, but I also like their Double Fiber whole wheat bread.

I buy the Aldi brand, Lov'n Fresh (I think that's the spelling)
There is no HFCS, the first ingredient is stone ground whole wheat, 50 calories a slice, and VERY affordable!
Thanks for the great suggestions, everyone! I think I am going to have to go to the bread isle and plant myself there to read the nutritional labels! I'll have to bring a chair along in case I get tired!
I like Koepplinger's brand breads. No HFCS and the taste is good. They carry it at Whole Foods but I buy it at the Meijer because it's cheaper there. Hubby's fave is the honey wheat, which is 80 calories a slice. Their whole wheat and light whole wheat both have lower cals though.
Also for using pb in wraps, I l o v e pb and banana wraps. So good! I use tumaro's low in carb whole wheat tortillas. Someone was just recommending lavash brand (or maybe Lawash brand?) low carb flatbread wrap looking things though to me last week - they were 70 cals each and looked huuuge. I keep meaning to pick some up to try.
Also I'm a huge fan of Trader Joe's valencia pb with roasted flax seeds - ingredients list is just peanuts, flaxseed, and sea salt and it is wonderful - stir before refrigerating though or all those flaxseeds form kind of a layer at the top when it firms up.
The sandwich thins have some sucralose in them, but no HFCS.
I use flatout light for my pizzas - 90 calories each, but it does have maltitol and several other processed ingredients - warning if you're looking at a 100% clean diet.
The low carb tortillas from Trader Joe's are great, though. I like them because they're 45 calories each and I can use two to make a quesadilla without feeling like I'm wasting too many calories.

For the tortilla pizza you just use a tortilla as the crust my fave one that I make is I put some basil pesto on the tortilla then some broccoli a little mozzarella and tomato slices it tastes almost exactly like trader joes pesto pizza which is my fave
The calories are around 300 but it all depends on the toppings you put on you can put anything you like use pizza sauce and veggies or some chicken or meat then just bake it at 350 for about 25 mins but keep checking just until the toppings are done and the tortilla is crispy it really does taste like a very thin crust pizza it really helps me with a pizza craving and keeps you eating a small portion I love em
sprouted grain bread is basically just that sprouted grains no flour or gluten or sugars its all natural and the sprouted grains are alot easier for you to digest
