Are the recipes easy to make? I can't find any sample recipes online, so I don't want to buy the book blindly. I'm one of those people who knows very little about cooking and don't like messing around with a laundry list of ingredients for each meal.

I just want to say, it SO isn't too good to be true. This is basically my philosophy...find ways to make your favorite foods healthier, so you can eat them more often. I cook all sorts of "decadent" dinners that fit into my calorie allowances...they are just made in a healthier, lower calorie way.

Yep, same here. I've mastered the art of taking something fattening and turning it into a healthier version.

I make "Big Macs" at home as well.

I also have a lot of "decadent" light recipes. Some I've invented, some I've gotten from cookbooks, some from online.

Healthy food does not have to be bland or boring.

Yupyup. I have fabulous cheeseburgers at home all the time (used to include bacon and still have great calorie counts, but now I'm watching sodium, so I 86ed the bacon). If you just adjust your ingredients and/or portion size, you can really eat pretty much anything and still lose weight.

Default My Review on "Decadent" Eggplant Parm.

My DD got me this cookbook for Mother's Day, and it is a good read. I did make the Eggplant Parm, added extra lowfat cheese for more protein and it was excellent. My DH loved it and asked what it was and I told him Italian casserole. HEE!HEE! I cut the recipe in half and after it was done let it set for 10 minutes. It stayed together and was excellent. I'm buying my DD one of these cookbooks, because she drooled all over mine before she gave it to me. Only thing I didn't like about it was didn't have sugar in nutritional info. I also went to a 1/2 Price bookstore and picked up a copy of "Lickety-Split Meals: For Health Counscious People on the Go!" Zonya Foca She has a Lickety-Split Diabetic Cookbook coming out in August. Another good read and sugar in the nut. info and she states that this cookbook can be used in the second phase of South Beach.

I agree that we can pretty much eat whatever, by scaling it down a bit. Although I have increased my veggie and fruit and whole grains to my diet. Last night we were bad and stopped at Wendy's. I ended up getting one of the hamburgers.. I didn't want cheese, they put it on anyways... but I honestly didn't eat the whole thing. My body didn't like it. We stopped home during work and I grabbed a bunch of veggies and fruit, I felt much better. My body is getting used to veggies, fruit and grains for meals and fish, meat sometimes... Its not used to the white bread either...

I almost bought her other book today--the fast food one. But then I looked at some of the sample recipes and the calorie intake....

She keeps the portions in that book the same size, which is probably a mistake. The light versions end up only saving you 100 calories in some instances (a slimmed-down 600+ calorie shake? no thanks).
