I'm starting the 10-Day Kick Start on Wednesday, May 17th!
Does anyone want to join me? The more, the merrier! The Kick-Start will begin on Wednesday the 17th and end on Friday, May 26th...just in time for Memorial Day Weekend. I decided it would be an EXCELLENT way to kick off the summer.
I've come to hate summer and all the challenges it brings to a woman with weight/body image issues. And for years I've resentfully hunkered down in the air conditioning all summer long, avoiding being seen in summer clothes. But I'm not spending another season skulking around after dark!
Last summer, I had to buy a new bathing suit (one that had a skirt) because none of the old ones fit anymore and I couldn't bear to expose my thighs to the general public when I took my kids out to the pool. I came across the suit again a few weeks ago. I am telling you now, I am not going to put that bathing suit on again. It's horrible and I'm not a grandmother and I'm not going to wear it, period. So I'm getting my butt in gear now, and this is how I'm doing it.
Who's with me? We can check in with each other every day. And at the end we can compare notes, and see how well we do. Are you ready? I am!
I'm so glad you started this thread, I can't wait to see what we can do! I've spent the past couple of summers too embarrassed to go out and my social life is far from what it used to be. And as a nature lover I want to take long walks in the park and focus on the beauty of trees and wildlife around me, not on my weight. Since I started Turbo Jam two weeks ago I'm seeing some definite changes in my body, but I wouldn't mind speeding things up a bit
I'll join as soon as I get my dvd's I read through the main Turbo Jam thread and just ordered it. I do most of my excersize with dvd's and I like Taebo so I am excited to see how this is. Also Thanks to the person who posted the 30% off code in that thread. It said 5-10 days I should have the dvd's......that was with the express shipping....doesn't sound express to me lol. Hopefully it will be here by the 17th
Are you doing 10 days of Turbo Jam or 10 days of the eating plan? I know Chalene had a National Turbo Jam House party and quite a few people are starting the 15th for that. I'm trying to get my meal plans down to start the Slim in 10 eating plan that came with the original set.
I have a few suits with the skirt and I actually like them even though my legs aren't that bad (granted they look really good from the knee down - I have longer legs but a huge stomach) - I don't wear them to cover anything, I wear it because I like it on. I don't think of them as a "grandma" type and they seem to be flattering on a lot of people that I see them on. I've lost 10 pounds since October and I want it to move a little faster myself. I just want to feel good this summer and not always so darn bloated.
I've been following Chalene's rotation - not exactly but close. I'll go find it and put it here incase anyone is interested.

I'd like to join in! I recently received the first set of DVDs. Sorry, this is the first I really heard about this, is there something specific to do for the 10-Day Kick Start other than follow the eating plan that comes with this first set and then doing the videos? (Is everyone going to be doing the The Advanced Rip You Up TJ Rotation that RachelleS has so kindly posted? I don't have all of those videos.)
EDIT: Well, there's nothing like reading all of the materials that came with my Turbo Jam set. I hadn't read the Guidebook yet, and then I realized that there's also the "Turbo Slim 10-Day Kick Start" guide! Never mind!
I'm already hooked on this now, I have a 30% off code, does anyone have some suggestions for what would be good DVDs to get next? Thanks much!!!!!

I don't even have my first set yet (ordered yesterday) but I am wondering the same thing. Which ones are the best to get next? Or are there any in particular that are not so good to get.
Chrissy
this is just my opinion but I think if you have the original set I would buy the latest set next. I love all of the workouts from the new set (especially fat blaster). The live set which came out after the original I just do but I don't love them.
Hi everybody! I'm relatively new here on this forum, but thought I would jump in since I love TJ, too. I've been jamming for a week now and love, love this w/o. I've already jammed today and taking my first rest day tomorrow. I'll start jamming again on Monday, but count me in on the challenge.
I would love to do the 10 day with you all!! I just got my TJ last week and I am pumped up, now is the time for me to jump right in and get moving!
I am going to go make my grocery list to get started....and while I wait for my family to rise and shine, sleepyheads. We went fishing last night (well, I went, but did not fish) and were out there late, so everyone was tired out. But I got up and did my L&B and 20 min workouts this morning and I am ready to get on with my day. So....I am going to hop into the shower and get going with it.
I'm glad I have them all and I received them in the order I got them (which is the order they came out.) The 20 minute lead me to build up to do the Cardio Party 1 & 2 (which are 40 minutes) and 1 & 2 lead me to do Cardio Party 3 and Punch Kick & Jam (which are 50 minutes). I use the Cardio Party Remix with the Booty Sculpt as one workout lately so I can get both sculpting and cardio in. Cardio Party 1 & 2 I used alot until the new ones came out so I will reach for the new ones more. PK&J is my favorite workout, 20 Minute my second. I like having the variety since I am doing mostly Turbo Jam workouts. If I could only pick one set after the original to get, then I would probably pick the newest one. I'll have to look but I think I burn around the same calories for the 50 minute workouts as I do the 40 minute ones and I think it's because the 50 minute workouts have a longer cool down - and PK&J has a toning segment at the end of it so the heart rate slows down. I like the Fat Blaster too - even though it has four turbos, Chalene runs through it first at a slower pace and then you hit it hard when the siren goes off. The 30 minutes go by really fast. The other night I was like - oh my gosh, I'm on the fourth turbo!!!!
WOW! I am so excited to see so many people getting ready to Jam the 10-Day Kick Start!
What I'm calling "10-Day Kick Start Challenge" is just the 10-day eating plan, using the recommended TJ workouts, from the Beach Body or QVC package: I believe that in the Turbo Slim eating plan, they recommend alternating 3 days of Cardio Party with one day of Turbo Sculpt for ten days straight. (No "rest days" over the weekend!) At any rate, that's what I meant by "Kick Start," since that's the big "10 Pounds in 10 Days" they're referring to in the literature that came with the DVDs.
I personally decided to start on a Wed, only because the last day of the Challenge lands on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. I wanted to get pumped up for summer, and I guess I've always thought of Memorial Day weekend to be the kickoff of summer, so for me it was a good fit. Still, if anyone wants to start on the 15th, to coincide with the National party, I say No Worries! We can all check in here and support each other since this is going to be an intense ten days (at least, I think it'll be tough for me, since I have a lot of bad food habits to break, and much as I love TJ, I do love my days off too!).
OK, just got the literature that came with my set, and for the Turbo Slim 10-Day Kick Start (which, just so we're all on the same page, is the program I'm starting on Wednesday the 17th), they recommend:
Day 1 - Cardio Party
Day 2 - Cardio Party
Day 3 - Turbo Sculpt
Day 4 - Cardio Party
Day 5 - Cardio Party
Day 6 - Turbo Sculpt
Day 7 - Cardio Party
Day 8 - Cardio Party
Day 9 - Turbo Sculpt
Day 10 - Cardio Party
So that's the plan I'm following. But again, any Jam is better than no Jam at all, right? So I think as long as you're following the food plan and getting a workout in once a day, it'll still be a habit-changing, powerful 10 days.
Regarding the food plan: Is anyone here planning on following it to the letter? I find that there's some stuff I have no interest in (I'm not a fan of fish, and in fact eat very little meat), but I think most of this can be modified accordingly.
I think that smoothies are delightful and healthy and all that, but they're also really expensive, so I'm going to do a "shake" of Aria protein powder and soymilk, which comes out to roughly the same calories (perhaps a bit less, minus the fruit). And I don't think it's necessary to use only Beach Body products (i.e., BB Whey Protein Powder, BB Meal Replacement Shake), although they're certainly fine.
Basically, I'm using the 10-Day meal plan as a guide, even if that means picking one or two favorites from each B, L, D or snack, and rotating them for all 10 days. I don't want to go over (or under!) 1300 calories a day, because I really want this to count for something, and I want results!
How about you all?
BTW Rachelle - regarding the "gramma suit" - certainly it was a cute bathing suit, and I really tried to work it as a retro thing (cat-eye shades, red lips and nails, natch) but deep down I knew that I wasn't happy with how I looked - in that bathing suit, or anything else for that matter - and silly as it may be, my vanity won out and I crammed that suit in the back of my drawer, hopefully never to be seen again. Only, I'm glad I did see it, because it reminded me that I need to get my butt in gear if I don't want to wear it again this summer.
So, I have nothing at all against skirted suits. They absolutely can be cute and sexy, to say nothing of comfort. I personally felt like a gramma since I had mental images of my own dear Gram in a similar style of suit, at a similar weight.
I guess it's like one of my friends says: "Maybe to make a big change you have to pin your frustration down on one concrete thing, and let it work your last nerve." (Thanks, Andrea - you were right on the money...)
Hi Zennifer...Like you, I'll be using the eating plan as a guide 'cause I really can't get into the fish thing. And as I mentioned on the other thread, I'll be saving my one Turbo Sculpt workout for day 10 of the challenge. I did this w/o this past Saturday and would not have been able to workout on Sunday even if I had wanted to...I was sooooo sore! It'll be quite awhile before I'll be able to do this one without taking a rest day...so I will be modifying the w/o schedule. But again, as you stated, any jamming is better than no jamming at all. BTW, thanks for starting this thread.
