Neicey~ I'm glad I'm not the only one who has felt that way. The only weights I have at home at 5lb weights and I think that is part of the problem. I really could use 3lbs but I refuse to go out and by them to only use for a few weeks until I move up to the 5lb.

Is anybody doing the shred only 3 days a week? I do mine M-W-F but I'm wondering if maybe I shouldn't up that? I don't want to hinder any results I'm going to get by not doing it enough

I am new to 3fc community & I am so glad that I found this forum posting!!! I'm on L1D4! I have constantly yo-yo'd with my weight from my lowest at 135 to my highest 180 (where I'm at now) and I'm motivated to end the battle! I just wanted to let you ladies know that I find all of your posts inspirational and motivational. I'm glad we are in it together :D

firefliesandpixies - welcome to the board. I'm still doing girl push-ups. I can do about five guy push-ups but prefer the girly ones. lol In my eyes they are still pretty intense.

zephyr524 - you're good. I only use 3 lb weights and those are heavy to me. On some of the moves I alternate my arms.

L2D2 done! I really hated day 1 of level 2, and ended up taking an unplanned 3 days off. :p I'm proud of myself for getting back into it today, and I found a couple of ways to make the plank exercises more comfortable for me. I wore shoes for the first time, since my feet and toes are weak and easily injured, and I gripped the hand weights instead of putting my palms flat on the floor. That made things much less painful, and I was able to get through the workout reasonably well (though extremely sloppy by the end).

I really want to keep doing this every day. I want to be the sort of person who works out and lifts weights every day. :)

Day 22 of Slimdown. Quick Trouble Zones. Yeahya! A break!

firefliesandpixies 05-26-2010 10:24 AM

Thanks for the welcome!!!!! I tried Level 2 last night just to see how it was and it was tougher but I was able to stick it out for the most part....I think I'm going to alternate between L1 and L2 for a while before giving L3 a go. You really do work hard in those 20 mins but it goes by so fast!!!!!! I can definitely see incorporating this into my week (I've pretty much only done yoga up till now) when I'm pressed for time or want a quick cardio workout.

Quick question....my quads are pretty tight (sore) today....I've always heard to have a day of rest when your muscles are sore but in this case...do I rest tonight or should I tough it out and do the 20 min workout (L1)? I want to do the workout...have most of you continued through the sore muscles?

TIA - Jen

L2D3 done. Felt pretty good today, still sweating a ton though. That v-raise near the end, whoo, definitely building some muscles there! :D

firefliesandpixies, I think the DVD is designed to be done 30 days in a row, without "rest days". Since it's only 20 minutes each day, that kind of makes sense, but yeah, you do get pretty sore. I know a lot of people do take rest days as needed anyhow (I just did), so it's not that big a deal either way, but personally I don't think soreness should get in your way unless you're seriously worried about injury. I think I strained a small muscle on the left side of my neck my very first day, and it's still faintly sore... that was probably a small injury, but I decided to see if it got any worse, and when it didn't, decided that my health is probably in greater risk if I don't work out than if I do. :) YMMV, of course!

Day 24 Banish Fat Boost Metabolism completed. Some how I goofed up on posting the days. Probably didn't account for the days off.

chary - that v raise is a killer!

firefliesandpixies - yes I believe it is designed for 30 days straight but I've heard of a lot of people doing 10 days and resting. When I did the 30 Day Shred I did it six days straight with one day off because I know if I'd done it any other way, I probably would have bailed on the program. :-o And if I was sore, I went ahead and did the workout the next day. For me, once I was doing the workout, it seemed to help relieve the soreness. Oh, and by the way, I loved doing L3! Of course Jillain doesn't use it in the 30 Day Slimdown Challenge. Darn her!

I took a Kettlebell class one day and oh my word! I was sore the next day I could barely walk! (Took baby steps the whole day! lol) And I so didn't want to do ANYTHING but I went ahead and did a workout and of course soaked in the bathtub after that. :-)

L2D4 done. I think I've made my peace with level 2. :) Grabbing the weights during all the plank stuff makes a big difference for me.

I've stopped weighing and measuring, it was just pissing me off. I'm not eating well enough to really lose weight, so I'm just going to focus on doing the videos and getting stronger for now. Thinking about heading back to see my old therapist to talk about my constant need to "treat" myself to junk food.

Day 25 Quick Trouble Zones and 30 Day Shred Level 2 completed.

Belease 05-28-2010 09:22 AM

I've ended up taking a little break from this but I'm back on it again. I am so pleased with how easy level one feels to me now I've done the whole thing and am revisiting the levels. And I can totally do the lunge jumps from level 3 all the way through - I never really could before, but suddenly I can manage them. It's amazing!

And no, no before and after pics, I'm afraid. This probably sounds stupid, but I work in the media and I don't want my pics, especially if I'm in a bra and pants, online - they might get found by people who know me from my job, which would be a total disaster!

zephyr524 05-28-2010 08:28 PM

L1D6 done. I've only been doing it M-W-F but I think I may try to do it 4x next week instead.

naynai0428 05-29-2010 11:33 AM

ok so last night i did Level 1 Day 1 with my boyfriend...whew...lol we were both struggling but we made it :) Woke up this morning and I'm a little sore but not horrible...feeling really strong, looking forward to Day 2 later on tonite...from the reviews I've read it seems like you don't lose that much weight with 30DS but you gain muscle and tone...either way I'm ready for a stronger body!! P.S. I think my boyfriend rocks for being my workout bubby even though he's in pretty good shape already :)

naynai0428 05-29-2010 11:35 AM
