Mixing it up does more than keep you from getting bored. Different types of exercise will work different muscle groups in different ways.
Also, exercising the same muscles in the same way will cause them to get "used" to the workout, and thus diminish its effectiveness.

I rotate among fitness ball, weights, stretchie bands, yoga, pilates DVDs for my morning workout and Tae Bo, WATP, Zumba and other aerobic dance videos for my afternoon session.

I have had excellent results - even with "moderate" routines that are low-impact.

Good luck - and the most important thing is - just stick with it!

I just bought the new Zumba and it looks really good. However, the dance moves are NOT simple. The "how to" video is an hour long! I do have high hopes for it because I hate to exercise and if I can trick my brain into thinking I'm dancing then WOO HOO.

I am also trying to get my hubby to do the "learn to" dvd with me. In ten years of marriage we've danced together maybe four times? Mostly it is the junior high slow dance back & forth sway. Maybe guys who hunt & fish and wear plaid aren't supposed to meringue?

I love TJ! I have lost like 50 pounds with it! I also go to the gym or strenght training, but it was mostly TJ. I also have the biggest loser 3 -4 and theyare pretty good. I bought the dvds from jillian called biggest winner andyou need a stepper, so they weren't good for me!.

I have done Winsor Pilates and it does take away belly inches. My aunt also did it and got a 6 pack, but she had already lost the belly fat. I think the key with this and any video is consistency and they will all work. You just have to find the one you will keep doing, not just do once and never again

That's my problem, I start to do them for a couple weeks and then get busy and stop. Lately I've been doing Tae Bo and Winsor Pilates, though. I like them both. You just have to make sure you focus on the correct form in order to get the results. It takes me a couple of times to learn the correct way and go the same speed as the video.

I'm in love with The Firm videos! I haven't bought any of their actual "systems", I just picked up some videos from the store. Although at first I was horribly frustrated with them because it seemed like they moved a little too fast with little learning curve for those first begining the moves, after a few times I was hooked! I love the cardio/weight Firms--they really get you sweating and make you feel strong and accomplished.

My favorite begining Firm (the one that frustrated me at first) is Cardio Overdrive. I think it might be a part of the newer TransFIRMation kit, but I just bought the single video and used my own hand weights.
