Hahaha! Doctor knows best!

I didn't get any exercise in yesterday for the sheer fact I'm lazy. I'll make up for it with 45-60 minutes tonight.

Are you feeling better at all?

Glad to hear your feeling better

Yesterday I did TJ Cardio Party 2 and today I plan on doing Hip Hop Abs, but I just got home so I want to relax for a while first and watch one of my favorite movies frome when I was little, Monkey Shines.

Hello ladies -

I didn't end up exercising today, Stella is still running a fever and coughing and she was very clingy. I'll have to make it up either tomorrow or during the weekend!

During the summer I had something akin to bronchitis and it was terrible. I ran anyway and it felt disgusting and useless.

I'm trying to find a way to LIKE excercising, and maybe that way I'll get around to it easier. At one point in October I was really regular, but that's dwindled down to nowt. I need a new gym, since I'm not attending University anymore. I'm thinking a pricer one that has a steam room and sauna, which I could probably appreciate.

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry I haven't posted for several days, Stella was sick and it was impossible to get anything done!!

I did manage to workout twice: once I did the Prevention Sugar Solution workout, which is a cardio walk segment and some strength segments, and once I did most of Patricia Moreno's Dancer's Body workout (the short version). It's finally the weekend! And dh is off next week. Whick means I should be able to workout every day for the next 7 days - can you say yay?

hello everyone!

I just finished Muscle Eats Fat from the Lotte Berk Method series - it's about 30 minutes and it's a GREAT workout! Anyone else a fan of Lotte Berk/barre/Pilates type exercises?

Hello All,

I also am trying to get myself back into making exercise a daily part of my life. It is just so much easier to blame it on the kids or a crazy day and sitdown in front of the TV to veg. But I know that is so not going to help me.

I am yet agian starting over, lost 40 lbs. in 2006 and managed to gain back every single ounce plus ten pounds in a year.

I have come to the unmistakeable conclusion that this just has to become part of my daily routine. Being a stay-at-home mom with two under six and a tiny apartment gives me every excuse that I could possibly want not to workout but my reflection in the mirror is suffering because of it.

I am hoping with a little bit of accountability and some good support I can develop a new daily routine that makes exercise just another part of my everyday.

I am starting out slow, cut calories down to 1200 or less and am waiting for my body to adjust to that, I'm tired so tired.

I started walking on the tredmill yesterday, 1 mile nothing extensive. Will keep up with that this week and have the Gilad Ultimate Body Sculpt series for workouts.

I did his workouts on Fit TV before when I lost all that weight and loved it. Unfotunately I don't have Fit TV anymore, so I bought the four main workouts; Elite Forces, Cuts and Curves, Power and Grace, and Core and More. I'm sure if we can find the drive to stick with it we will all reach our goals.

Happy Sweating!!!

Hi CJ,

I'm really glad you decided to join us! This thread had been sort of quiet lately - I personally haven't exercised much during the holidays, I had my parents over from Italy and our schedule went pretty much out the window And now that they have left and I could start again, I'm recovering from an injury - hurt my knee on Thursday, nothing broken but a nasty hematoma.

Other than that, I think a thread like this is ideal to get back into good habits, so I'm glad to have you with us, the more the merrier

But I do want to say, and I hope you don't mind, that 1200 calories or less is way too little for your body, particularly if you are planning to include exercise in your daily activities. When the calorie intake is too low the metabolism slows down because the body goes into starvation mode, making losing weight and especially keeping it off an uphill battle Shoot for 1500-1800 or even better, find your own caloric needs based on your weight and activity level : Greg Joujun-Roche, VIP trainer, uses this formula: multiply your weight by 11 if you are inactive, 13 if you are moderately active, 15 if you are active (working out 1 hour or more 5-6 days a week).

Good luck! I'm looking forward to reading your posts and being able to post again myself

Thank you for the warm greeting.

Sorry to hear about your injury, it's hard to keep motivated when outside influences make it difficult to keep on track.

I appreciate the advice, I was told that lowering my caloric intake to around 1000-1200 would be the best way to start, let my body adjust, and then incorporate exercise but I must admit it has been really hard to stick to

Your input makes me feel a lot better about the days when my caloric intake neared 1400

thanks again for the supportive response. Here's to hoping we all reach those longed for goals together.

Ok, so I ended up getting some exercise in afterall: 35 minutes power walking, half with a "walk vest" (my toddler in a backpack carrier) half pushing a stroller

My knee is better, though not fully back to normal yet. I think I'd stick to low-impact activities for the next week or so.

Welcoem michellenew!

I completely tanked any means of watching what I was eating yesterday. My son got rave reviewed from his pre-K teacher and speech therapist, so as a reward of meeting all his speech goals and being released from the speech program I brought both boys to McD's, managed to get through the drivethru without ordering anything for myself but once home found myself mindlessly picking at the remnence of two Happy Meals and melting icecream.

Why is it so hard to just not touch.

Then my neighbor came by to see if we wanted to go walking. Of course we did, maybe a mile, then she ordered pizza when we got home as a congrats to my son. Just what I needed. but managed to partake anyway.

The day was in all essence a complete loss.

Today is a new day and I will have an hour this afternoon to hopefully get a workout in with no little ones screaming, pulling, nagging, or crying for me to tend to them.

Hope everyone else is having better luck. My self-control needs some work.

Welcome michellenew, we welcome all who want to improve themselves. The more the merrier.

CJ,

I share your pain

I find for me when I'm getting "back into the groove", so to speak, it's just best to keep away from trigger foods, particularly junk food. I'm Italian, and food is an integral part of our culture. Celebrations more often than not revolve around food. This is one thing when it's done with a large group of people, where you also talk , dance , laugh and don't spend hours just stuffing your face. But I learned the hard way that this habit I had of celebrating with food is a bad one, if eating is the actual celebration. Old habits die hard, and of course it's not like one can completely exclude food from celebrations, but I've been trying not to make it the focus point. So if my daughter gets good grades or my husband gets a promotion, we try to come up with fun activities for the whole family that might include food, but do not revolve around it (go ice skating, go to Build-a-Bear, go to the luna park, etc).

It's hard. It's not what I grew up with, and it's not my first instinct. But I've also noticed how certain foods (particularly sugar) and lifestyle choices (like watching tv daily) influence my daughter's behavior negatively, and it was a real eye-opener for me. So now when I say "the Holidays are over, let's get our diet back on track! No sugar and no refined foods." I don't feel like I'm just dragging everybody down with me because I'm on a diet, instead I feel like I'm taking proper care not only of myself, but also of my family. Because I definitely don'y want my daughters to grow up and struggle with the same issues!

I'm sorry about the ramble the gist of it is: it's a learning process for all of us, you are not alone!
