The Tea Room--December
:candy: We're almost a whole day (more for many of us) into this month, so I thought I'd introduce the sparkling-new, Featherweight Tea Room. Step in and order up! We've got a wide variety of teas, healthful beverages, and lo-cal tidbits. May I direct you to the overlook, where you can view the valley below and the beautiful Christmas decorations? Nothing fancy here, just chat and have a good time. Bring your friends, everyone is welcome!
|
What a nice treat, Becky, such a delightful little room you've made. :D I simply adore the plush pillows, they're so squishy and cozy! I was hoping to get a cup of Breakfast Americana with some skim milk and splenda...Is that available?
The christmas decorations are lovely, too. I think that nutcracker in the corner is a hoot. I love cracking nuts. |
Hi again Jazzbird
some tea sounds good but let me say i have had a rough day "at the office" im a thinking the a hot toddy may be more in order. i have been so good lately with being on the treadmill this week but tonight i am sitting here after 14 hours at work and my legs are actually throbbing. my question, or statement,... i am still having an extra 4 pounds on me since Thanksgiving and it makes me so mad because I lost 9 pounds from when i first started posting here then thankgiving just blew me away. how can 1 night of indulgence hang around so long??!! It's just not fair I say!!!! |
Hi sweet_talker and you're tea is right over here. You've got an eye for the antiques. That nutcracker is over 100 years old.
Healthy, come on back to the kitchen. You've been really good at avoiding alcohol, but maybe a wee nip is in order. What's been going on since Thanksgiving? Have you been having a lot of salt in your diet? If not, maybe a diet heavy in refined carbs or low in fiber? If you're keeping your overall caloriies in control, one of these problems seems likely. Other opinions? |
Can I make a reservation? I'm going to work but by about 11:00 I think I'd like a nice cup of green tea.
|
I don't like tea that much but I can learn to love it ... Pretty place Jazz !
|
Actually, I'm not a big tea drinker myself. I have the occasional green tea but usually I stick to coffee. I like to put a little SF cocoa in it. Think I'll have a cup right now. :coffee2:
|
I am a tea fanatic... second to coffee though. LUV LUV LUV my coffee!!
Our pantry is filled with tea, greens, raspberries, i also drink slimming tea and detox teas. If nothing else they help me stay very regular which in turn makes me feel 10 pounds lighter every morning... :D hehehe Probably more than everyone would like to know, but what the hey... Im going to take that empty seat in the corner and knit... :) ... feel free to join me! |
|
Kathy, that's perfect!!!! You can be our marketing manager!

Also, this tea is delish, I just wish (haha, that rhymed) that I could have a cookie, but obviously that would spell disaster and quickly turn into approximately a million cookies. I love the sign, Kathy, it's really cute. :D Sugarfreeprincess, where do you get slimming teas or detox teas? Or are they regular teas with those properties. I am intrigued. :genie: I think I need another cup of tea, I have three finals (the last of this semester, my first semester of university...oh my gosh) this week coming. :stress: |
I've had some slimming tea before too ... we have a funny story here at work about it. One day I had had some and my tummy was rumbling and gurgling. (Also TMI, but like princess said, what the hey...) My cubemate turned around to me and said, "Did I just hear thunder?" I said, "No, that's my STOMACH!" We still laugh about it.
This is what we drink sometimes. It actually tastes quite good. http://www.iherb.com/store/productde...&pid=HBL-07622 |
Katpo--what a cute invitation!!!
I'll have a cup of Irish Breakfast tea, thank you. Nothing in it (no honey, lemon or cream) as I like it just as it is. I've tried "diet" tea and can't say it was much different than other tea except it didn't taste quite as good. |
I had Tetley honey, lemon, ginseng tea this afternoon. It was very nice!
|
Today someone bought me a Tim Hortons. It was good but I had green tea when I got home from work.
See you al tomorrow. Is there a special? |
Oh, my feet. I've been putting up Christmas decorations around the house--inside, outside, you name it. I think I'm just going to sit down in this nice overstuffed chair and put my feet up. Susan, I think the cook said something about a quiche--lowfat, of course.
|
Tonight I made some ginger and lemon tea from scratch, just sliced some ginger and a slice of lemon and let it steep in boiling water...
|
SusanB: yum! Tim Hortons has tasty coffee...It's my favourite place to buy coffee, and I'm not that much of a coffee drinker.
I've not had tea that often lately. I'm drinking lots of skim milk instead. Trying to up that protein. :D I'm of course, counting the calories in it, though. Counting calories is actually pretty enjoyable and I impress myself sometimes with the amount of things I will remember about a food...I have to amuse myself somehow  :) |

What a lovely place. How relaxing. I was planning to stay longer but I have just noticed that a mouse has nibbled a big chunk out of the wheel on my computer mouse. Oh .....! This kind of thing makes me a bit cross. :( These meeses, I hate them to peeces. I'll come back later when I've cleaned up a bit. |
Quiche? excellent! I think I'm due for a feeding at about 3 or 3:30. Quiche and green tea will be lovely!
Perhaps Silver will be back from her mouse mess by then ;) |
Haha, no Silverbirch, I've yet to use rhyming to study...but I do have other ideas similar that my classmates have found strange. Oh well, they work for me :D I like your rhyme toooo, haha, it's a shame about the meeses. ;)
Quiche? Hmm, I've packed my own lunch today: a whole wheat wrap with turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, sprouts, cucumber and mustard. And a kiwi...And a cup of skim milk...AND some cc. Obviously had to mention that :D Yummers, I love lunch. |
Oh I hope the tea and quiche are warm. It's chilly outside. Is there a table near the fire?
|
:::falls into the couch with a fresh cup of hibiscus w/ a citron infuser:::
 |
Wow is right, junebug! :congrat: on the weight loss and welcome to the Featherweight Tea Room & Emporium!
|
Good morning! I'm back now. No sign of the little blighters overnight.
I'm having a glass of hot water as they've run out of tea. (It's been so busy here! :) ) That reminds me that I used to drink hot water all the time, especially in meetings, before there was such a variety of teabags. Too much coffee doesn't agree with me and some coffee in offices is just plain nasty. I might go on a hot water kick again. |
I've come early today, so I'll have coffee please. I'm not sure what drives an (almost) sane woman from her bed at 6 am on her day off.
|
Susan, you must be used to getting your day started early. You are a nurse, aren't you? That would do it! Ever since I started getting up at 3:30 for work, I can't sleep in with a clear conscience anymore
I can feel a *scratch* in my throat right now so i think it's time to visit my tea lady to see if she can set me up with something. Jazzbird- thank you for the kind welcome! That's my favorite part of A Christmas Story- the enveiling of the leg lamp! Maybe I will settle in with some echinacea and a little Christmas Story this evening. silverbirch- I've recently begun to recognize the taste of the standard-never-been-cleand office coffee pot. blech. |
As I sit here with my coffee bemoaning the fact that the paperboy is late (again) I do take comfort in realizing that I remembered to pack my tea bags for work!! Yesterday was quite chilly (I know, you northerners think I'm moaning, but hey, 40 in the desert is COLD!) and I had forgotten my tea and I had to suffer all day!!! I would have loved some quiche, but my calorie intake has been off and I've regained 3 pounds or so. I even went so far as to up my ticker (I usually don't do that).
|
*puts feet up on overstuffed otterman*
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I luvs me some squats :goodvibes: |
Oh my goodness, did we run out of tea again? Here comes the delivery right now. (I just love looking at that delivery guy! ;) )
|
He is kinda hunky, isn't he?? Wonder if he brought any orange pekoe.
|
Can I have camomille to go, please with a smidge of honey. I feel like having a nice soak before I go out to a retirement dinner.
|
He is definitely a fox. I made a point yesterday of getting out of my room yesterday around 3:30 to take a walk to the cafeteria and get some tea (Darjeeling) and go for a walk. It made such a nice break from studying :)
I'm currently devouring some veggies and another cuppa darjeeling would be taaaasty. I might need a disposable cup, though, my finger tips are all orange from the carrots. |
What's elevenses?
My challenge for today is ... if I can get the dining room cleaned up, I can cash in my saved up for Christmas money and get decorating! Can I have some green tea first? |
Morning snackette eaten at 11am!
Sometimes known in my household as "ten-o'clocks" depending on how ravenous I am! |
I'm preparing my cup of English Breakfast tea right now....I prefer Irish Breakfast, but ran out of that here at the office. Mental note, bring some from home!
|
Like a protein pancake with peanutbutter?
|
exactly like a protein pancake with peanut butter
|
Still open? I'd love a diet coke!
My dining room smells like Murphy's Oil Soap and orange pledge and I've got my Christmas money!!! |
It's always open, didn't know you tea rooms were a 24 hour business? ;) I haven't had a pop in months (gave them up)...
Yay, christmas money, SusanB! I've been saving and saving...Pretty soon I'm going to blow it all on a massive christmas shopping spree. It's actually really fun to go on sprees where you aren't getting anything for yourself :D I love christmas shopping. |
