Think I'll take a nice cup of chamomile and sit by the fire.
I haven't been on a big Christmas shopping spree in ages, Carey, but I used to get a big kick out of it. These days I try to make short, surgical strikes at times when I think the crowds will be low. It is fun to see the stores all decked out. :wreath: |
Ah - does this tea room have a napping couch? Can I reserve my place on it right around lunch time? I'm going to conserve my energy for training tonight! Oh and while I'm making my reservation, I think I'll have a DC too ;)
|
Morning! Coffee please ... Jenfrus? get up! It's getting crowded in here and we need the seats.
|
DARN! :p
|
Just turn that leather chair around and put your feet on the hearth.
|
Coffee (or tea) by the fire with the morning paper and good friends nearby......what a lovely day this will be!
|
I'll have coffee over here. Can I have a peek at your paper, Allison?
|
Sure, I'm just doing the crossword and Sudoku now. Does anyone have any scones? A scone would be nice this morning.

Salt ... it makes you retain water. A little water weighs a lot! So ... if you can regulate your salt, you may be able to avoid some false high weights that are really only water. Did that make sense? |
yes that's helpful. i knew i ate a lot of salt but since I now enter everything i eat into that program, it made me realize i ingest an inordinate amount. I'm going to try to cut down. Hopefully it'll make a differnce.
thank you! |
You are more than welcome! Did I tell ya you'd like it here? ;)
|
Hi nomorefatpants! Salt really does make you weigh more. I always show a gain after day when I eat something that has a lot of salt, like ham or cheese. It's a bummer, 'cause I love salty foods. I can give up sweets, but salt is my downfall.
|
Morning! coffee please.
We should photocopy the crossword. |
I've got my photocopied crossword, unfortunately I have to google most of the answers!
|
Maybe if we work on one copy together ???
|
My paper hasn't arrived. The paperboy must have changed. It used to be so nice to get the paper by 5:00 AM! Now I don't get it until almost 7:00 and I have to rush through it before work. Often I do my crossword and Sudodu at work (undercover so my employees don't see!!).
Salt. Do ya suppose that's what has caused my gain????? I've been really good and on plan and I'm going up rather than down. I'm getting a bit miffed. Perhaps a nice cup of Earl Gray is just what I need this morning. |
Your body needs a minimum amount of sodium, but if you eat anything you're most likely to reach the minimum. The only thing with tiny amounts of sodium are fruit. It's an excellent snack if you're trying to tone down on the salt. And dairy products also have a pretty good deal of sodium, as do breakfast cereals, so you should watch those. As well as the more obvious ones such as cheese, crackers, chips, pickles, processed meats. A little salt goes a long way. If you cut down, then when you do add it to something it's soooo much more potent.
I LOVE sudoku puzzles. I buy them by the book and can do the ones that are labelled "Torturous" in half the recommended time...:D This is a strange achievement, but I'm pretty pleased. I'm not trying to brag about my sudoku skills or something , it was just a rather nice realization. I can't do crosswords for the life of me, though  Need to go get somethin' to eat from the cafeteria, and finish my last paper, but I will be back for some tea later gals, hope you're all having good days :) |
Give me a crossword any time! The only sudokus I can do are on-line ones that come up red if you're wrong :)
Green tea please! And I'll sit by the window for a change it's so nice and sunny. |
My DD had to teach me how to do a Sudoku--now I'm hooked and I generally can do any puzzle in less than 10 minutes. I love crossword puzzles, but can only complete the really easy ones. The big one on Sunday (LA Times) I have only completed once!!! Generally I fill in what I can and set it aside. My FIL then stops over and finishes it for me. He's a huge crosswords fan. DD has now found another type of puzzle that just leaves me scratching my head:?: Its another number puzzle, but nothing like a Sudoku. It involves addition....she loves these kinds of puzzles. I guess that's why she likes calculus so much!!!
|
I'm afraid to try Sudoku because I might not quit. I love games. Scrabble is my favorite, but any board game or computer game is addictive for me. During the semester, I don't play games or read novels because I'd never come up for air.
|
Scones in the morning! Cranberry/orange, broccoli/rosemary, cheddar cheese, blueberry, cranberry/oat, lemon cream, bacon/onion, buttermilk, and apple/cinnamon. Delicious!
|
Morning! Just coffee please!
After DH is done his errands we're going shopping. I'll just relax here while I wait. |
Hmmm quiet here. Can I have a bottle of water and a green tea? ... and the sofa?
|
Morning!
|
Thought I'd pop in to this quaint little establishment and visit some old friends!
Hello lovely ladies!Sorry I've been gone so long, lets put our feet up and chat a spell and have, hummmm, I think I'll have a green tea today! Shall I start? I've fallen off the wagon, but now I'm back with a vengence!Looking forward to catching up with you all! |
Good morning people!
I'll have a tea and a relax before my 3rd  Christmas dinner in as many days! I feel like I didn't eat too much over the weekend - I didn't feel sick like I normally do after a weekend with the parents and their biscuit tin! I did treat myself on both days but I didn't let both days turn into a mindless-eating fest. Today is work Christmas dinner :T Do we have a piano in here? I've been practising my carols... :goodvibes: |
Good Morning!
Hey, it's our friend from Winnipeg! I'm off to do the Florence Nightingale thing this morning. Can I have coffee first? |
Coffee and tea all round for everyone! I've been practising my carols toooo :D
|
We go caroling at the nursing home next Monday. I've got to practice myself! I've already had 2 cups of coffee this morning, so I'd prefer a nice cup of Irish Breakfast tea (my favorite!!).
Welcome back Wide! I haven't seen you in these parts for a while! |
I feel off the wagon on the way over here! Thankfully another came along and picked me up, so here I am to stay for a long, long time!!!
Just a orange peako for me today please and a piece of toase with FF peanutbutter if you have it, yummy, craving it! I see you've brought out the kareoke machine! Who's going to be the first one up on stage? |
I was informed of my lack of carol-singing ability over the weekend, but you ladies feel free! I love a good caroling!
Just a quiet day at home studying for finals... I'm on my second cup of sugar free hot chocolate as we speak :) |
Who cares if you're not on key!!! The fun is in the singing (even if it means DD rolling her eyes at me!).
|
Hellooooo! No tea drinkers this evening? Camomille please. I'm waiting for an auction to end on ebay.
|
Oh, quiet tonight. Maybe I'll just put my feet up a little while and watch the fire. real.....pretty........zzzzzzzzzzz
|
I'm all for not singing on key! Last year, one of my best friends and I cruised around in her car YELLING christmas carols playing in her tape deck. Had a ridiculously fun time. Even when we didn't know the words we would pull up to the lights singing terribly and people would give us the stangest looks, but that was ok, because we were always having so much fun. It's one of my fondest christmas memories :D
|
Coffee ... hot and black!
How am I supposed to run a life with a job like this? I was booked for 3-11 today. They told me to stay home ... no wait ... you'd better come in ... no wait ... we need you to ward clerk ... no wait ... seniority says you need to work on the floor for 4 hours! Yeesh. So, yes coffee please. I'll go at 7 and see what the heck they want me to do. Secretly, I wouldn't mind being done at 11 am. I'll meet ya back here for tea fa la la la la la la la la .... |
Susan-see ya for some tea and some "Ohmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm";)
Ok. You guys talked me into it. Here it goes. "White Christmas" a la Bing Crosby. Better sign me up for some hot pekoe with lemon and honey :D |
Oooh, so nice. Mind if I join? I think I will take that overstuff chair with ottoman over there next to the cozy fireplace. I forgot how much I enjoy a good tea break. Irish breakfast is a fave, but for this afternoon, I think I will enjoy some darjeeling in my sweet china cup that I brought in just for the occasion.
I'll try to work my nerve up to join you in a few Christmas songs, but might need to add a splash of liqueur to my tea to fancy me making a quick fool of myself with my singing. |
Aaaahhhhh. Just what I need--a nice cup of Irish Breakfast to get away from it all. I don't care where I sit and long as I can unwind a bit.
Yesterday was hectic as all get out. Had to get DD out of school to go to the DMV to get a duplicate of her provisional license. You see, she was scheduled for her behind the wheel driving test at 3:30 and over the weekend she misplaced her permit.....what they didn't explain is you can't just get a new one and go. You have to fill out a new application which means both parents need to sign it before they honor it. Okay, drive and meet hubby half way (thanks to him for doing that!) and back to DMV to get the replacement. We're only half done. Now we need to drive out to the driving school to get her instructor's signature on the new permit. We have just under an hour and I know the round trip takes a little more time that that. Will we make it back in time for her appointment? Yes, we did make it (only 3 minutes late) and off she goes for her 15 minute driving test. Wait, what's this? She's back in less than 5 minutes? Oh, that can only mean one thing....she failed. We're now scheduled to return on the 26th......I only hope she doesn't misplace her new permit (that $26 piece of paper!). So you can see why I need a nice cup of tea, by the fire. Can someone pass that paper? Oh, on the radio--my favorite carol--Carol of the Bells, can you turn it up a notch, please? Thanks so much! |
