Almost There- October

I hope nobody minds me starting the October thread!:^:
Just relaxing a little today, just got home from McDonalds playland and I'm frazzled, those kiddies drive me nuts with their screaming! I'm glad RJ is basically a quiet kid!
Have a great day!

3fcuser1058250 10-01-2006 04:04 PM

October already :fr: ... UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Today was a good day, a few groceries done, gym done, now I'm going to make a nice vegetable soup...

3fcuser1058250 10-01-2006 04:17 PM

Wide I was just reading in the Fat Smash forum and something was different than the book I am presently reading, it just so happens that the book I am reading is the Fat Flush Plan  silly me... I still am going to try this plan...

Wide in Winnipeg 10-01-2006 05:51 PM

Is there much difference?

srmb60 10-02-2006 05:19 AM

Good morning everyone. I'm afraid I have nothing good to report for September. Oh I have a cute little house and some of it is painted and I've got some nice decorating done but ... I'm starting October at 131 lbs.
I guess I should consider that a victory considering all the take out meals, quick snacks and um beverages we've been consuming.
October should be better. This is the last week I'm booked for five shifts and I should be able to get back into a bit of a groove with walking and so on.
Speaking of that sort of thing ... I should pack my lunch.

Since I haven't read Fat Smash, I'm not 100% sure, but from what I read on the Forum Fat Flush allows meats for the first 2 weeks... LOTS of water with cranberry juice, psyllium (sp?), drinking hot water with the juice of half a lemon before breakfast... Actually even Fat Flush will be difficult to follow for me, because they don't have a lot of protein and carbs in the first 2 weeks... I'll tweak things for me... Oh and NO COFFEE, ain't gonna happen in my lifetime, I don't drink that much anyways only 1 or 2 cups/day...

2frustrated 10-02-2006 09:14 AM

 I think I really am "almost there" I've changed my weight tracker thingy in my profile and I'm not really bothered about the exact weight anyway, but THE DRESS FITS! So that's all that matters! I now have to resist complacency and keep eating right and working out. 5 WEEKS! Just 5 weeks to go! :yikes:

Jazzbird 10-02-2006 09:31 AM

Way to go 2f! All that kickboxing is showing! :carrot:

softballmom 10-02-2006 09:33 AM

WTG Frus on fitting into the dress! :drill: Keep focused on good food and your exceptional exercise program, and enjoy.

Since starting my w/t program I have bounced between 121 and 124. Gonna keep watching the intake and continue the running & w/t programs. Need to work my head on how I look/feel instead of a scale number.

3fcuser1058250 10-02-2006 06:26 PM

Softballmom, have you measured, taken pics, or used the pant-o-meter?... That for me is a better gauge of progressthan that dang scale, although I do like to see the numbers go down ..

2F, keep up the great work!!

Today I did a killer leg workout :strong:, did 4 variables of squats, wide stance squats, front squats, split squats, :sumo: squats, I did the sumo squats on 2 bosu balls... I didn't have time for some cardio though :( ... I'll make up for it tomorrow...

Wide in Winnipeg 10-03-2006 12:18 AM

Today was poopy. I'm freakin sick again(must be all that healthy food I'm consuming LOL!)
Tomorrow is my night to pig out AND have a couple of drinks then Wednesday I'm starting the Fat Smash Diet.
Chat tomorrow!

Robsia 10-03-2006 03:19 PM

Well, after a fantastic September (down 9 pounds - best month since February) I put on 2 lbs overnight from Sunday to Monday.

But AF is due to arrive next Sunday so it's probably water weight. I need to drink more water - I'm really bad at that!

My parents have a big party on the 14th October for their Ruby Wedding and it's in the day so I had to find an outfit suitable to a glam daytime 'do'. Had loads of sparkly stuff for evening but all I had for daytime is my work suits and that's boring.

So I went out shopping on Saturday and found the most gorgeous cream trouser suit in a size 12!! (That's 10 in the US!) I would never have been seen dead in a cream trouser suit before. Now my thighs are still a bit wobbly but these pants are wide leg so they skim over the wibbly bits. The jacket is really unusual - it looks normal from the front, but, below the collar, the back is open at the top and buttons down the back too.

I'm hoping I don't look like a big cream elephant - it looked really nice in the shop. And I still have almost 2 weeks to lose a few more pounds by then.

3fcuser1058250 10-03-2006 10:02 PM

Robsia ... That suit sounds lovely, size 10 is awesome  ...

I didn't do cardio today, bad girl me  ... But I did have a great shoulder workout, I loved it... I did all the standing shoulder workout standing on two bosu balls, on the flat side... Totally awesome... The men always comment on my techniques  it's all in good fun we laugh a lot, specially when they try to do it and fall off the bosu  ...

Food was so-so...

Jazzbird 10-04-2006 12:35 AM

Robsia, your suit sounds fabulous! Why don't you get a friendly person to snap a pic and post it for us to see?

2frustrated 10-04-2006 04:26 AM

Ilene - you and your Bosu!!! My new gym's got one and I could barely stand on it (getting the second foot on was the problem!) although once I was on I tried some squats, which was pretty kewl! :D

Oh been working out so good this week. Ate very well on Monday but yesterday was food tasting day for the wedding  So I ate lots, and once I eat lots, I find it hard to not eat lots until the next day, so I ended up eating some PB cups and a bowl of cereal and some gingerbread men once I got home  (for a description of the food, see LWL #275!!!)

Gosh, what is this? Same thing for me (almost). I did great all September (officially down 4 pounds but really 6.5 because I had gained 2.5 just at the end of August). So I'm happy at 139, sticking to it for 4 days and suddenly I'm 141.5? What's up with that? Why is it that at the beginning of each month this mysterious 2.5 pounds lands on my scale?

Yesterday's seafood enchiladas and margaritas probably won't help get rid of those excess pounds......but I'm OP today! And I intend to stay OP for at least the next 10 days! In laws will be here in 11 days and I want them to see the changes!!!

Robsia 10-06-2006 10:45 AM

Is it me or is it a bit quiet in here? Where is everyone?

softballmom 10-06-2006 10:46 AM

Since the beginning of the week (and actually longer) I've been trying to transform my way of thinking now that I am so close to goal and the pounds aren't being removed as quickly. I *think* that I'm beginning to shift my focus from the scale to just maintaining a healthy lifestyle by eating what is good for my body and moving it towards fitness with my exercise. I'm actually catching myself saying no to something not because it will possibly put me over my cal count for the day, but asking what will my body do with this?

I'm still keeping my cals lower than maintenance, so eventually the weight will continue to decline, but in the meantime I'm living life and enjoying the benefits of my hard work so far. (And the scale does move - it's just two steps back, on step forward) I might not make my goal date, but I will make my goal with continued determination.

alinnell 10-06-2006 11:11 AM

Softballmom, I agree. The weight isn't coming off as quickly and perhaps it is my body's way of saying enough is enough! I concentrate on keeping the weight off, and if by chance I lose a pound here or there, well that's a bonus! It's weird though, how I can get to a weight, stay there for several days and have no change in diet and overnight the scale goes up 2 pounds. Then it takes me at least 5 days to get those 2 pounds off (that's where I am now--one pound to go to get back to 139). I have set Thanksgiving as the date I'd like to meet my goal--but it is slow going. I know that if I moved more, the weight would move as well, but until December comes, I have no extra time in my life to exercise. But I am formulating a plan for December (when DD gets her driver's license--that will free up at least 1 hour each morning for me to get moving!!!).

reo60511 10-06-2006 04:30 PM

I lost about 5 pounds in September. So I'm happy about that. Almost to short term goal!

Jazzbird 10-07-2006 12:39 AM

:) Welcome re60511!!!! Keep us posted on your progress.

Allison and softballmom, you're both so close to your goals. I'd love to be where you are! I hope you can think back 10 or 15 pounds and realize how far you've come. It's great for me to know you're where you are because it gives me hope for myself. Cheers, ladies!

chicky4 10-07-2006 01:52 AM

I am proud of myself for eating better today...lots of veggies, protein...the only slip up was some light beer tonight; but I think I deserved it. I'm hoping to "work it off" tomorrow at the gym. Goodnight all!

Wide in Winnipeg 10-07-2006 10:51 PM

H everybody! Sorry I haven't been around much, I've been sick.
Ilene~ Hows the FFP going for you? I'm on day 3 of The fat Smash Diet and haven't see any difference at all so far, then again I haven't been on the scale either!
Tomorrow I have to get the trailer from the lake so I won't be around much.
Happy Thanksgiving to all the canadians here also!

srmb60 10-08-2006 09:04 AM

Good Morning!

Which is the cause and which is the effect? or is it like a dog chasing his tail?
1. I eat badly and do not exercise.
2. I do not come to 3fc.

3fcuser1058250 10-08-2006 10:18 AM

Susan -- I hear you, so here is a solution, come to 3fc, post, then you will eat and exercise? Hang in there girl...

Hey Wide, the FFP is going well, just the fact of drinking 2 litres of cranberry water and incorporating psylllium twice/day has made a big difference... The scale? It yo-yo's, story of my life  , it sucks...

Today I am having my parents over for ThanksGiving supper... I'm going to do the best I can... I will have wine that's for sure, and the scale will yo-yo again, I know it... I haven't decided if I will have desert or not, my mother is bringing over apple and pumpkin pie...

I did go for a good 6k jog this morning and that felt good... I'll go out again tomorrow morning, it's supposed to be another gorgeous day...

srmb60 10-08-2006 10:39 AM

Have parents in and having alcohol ... why does that make perfect sense to me ;) Have you met my mother?

3fcuser1058250 10-08-2006 11:33 AM

 @ SusanB ... Here! Here!

Wide in Winnipeg 10-08-2006 07:43 PM

No wine for me, I'm cheating already with the turkey:o oh well, you only live once,eh?
Tomorrow is TG dinner with my parents, just the 4 of us so it will be quick and easy!
I don't think I have lost an ounce since I started this "diet" but I'm still giving it a go!
Have a gret night all!

srmb60 10-09-2006 07:42 AM

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving FeatherWeights!

softballmom 10-09-2006 09:10 AM

Happy Thanksgiving all you Canadians! Enjoy the festivities and family time. Ah, wine and family period do seem to go hand in hand ;)

2frustrated 10-09-2006 09:28 AM

That's a nice tractor you got there Susan! :D

srmb60 10-09-2006 09:33 AM

I live with men who collect things. What can a mama do? I'm not sure what happened to the two lovely little boys I used to have. They used to help put toys away, now they put them in centre pieces.

2frustrated 10-09-2006 09:37 AM

 It's very up to date!

I suppose our Harvest Festival is a bit like your thanksgiving, where we collect up food as a celebration of alll things good! All my harvest festivals when I was a kid consisted of fruit and veg (some home-grown) nicely arranged in baskets and things. I saw a nursery harvest festival at the gym and it was all packets and tins and processed :tape:  ****-o... Did you harvest that tin of baked beans yourself or did Mr Tesco have a helping hand (Tesco is a supermarket chain over here.)????

Robsia 10-09-2006 10:10 AM

When schools have harvest festivals - the food collected is given to the elderly and the poor. It's usually far more useful to give tins and packages than fresh food, as it lasts longer and is less likely to go to waste.

3fcuser1058250 10-09-2006 05:51 PM

Such a pretty centre pice Susan

Yesterday, was not pretty food wise, I ate what I pleased and I know I will pay for it on the scale this week... I refused to weigh in this morning, I'll weigh in on Friday...

Jazzbird 10-09-2006 08:03 PM

:thanks1: Happy Thanksgiving, Canadians. Our Thanksgiving is the last Thursday in November. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I have to steer a very straight line between the sweets and rich food. But I love Thanksgiving. I'm going to pig out like there's no tomorrow. :hun:

srmb60 10-09-2006 08:18 PM

I got on a bit of a high horse about Thanksgiving this year. Everyone calls me and asks what's happening but never actually has a get-together at their house. So since my kids were coming, I just kept inviting anyone who asked. BTW ... I was booked for 3-11 Fri, Sat and Sun ... I was not going to cook a huge dinner for all those people who had three day weekends!!!
We had a crock of pea soup with cheeses, crackers, whole wheat rolls and apple crisp!
Now I have to try to put that in fitday :)

softballmom 10-10-2006 08:18 AM

Oooh! I like your Thanksgiving meal Susan! When we occasionally stay home for the holiday I just want something simple that we can enjoy during the day, but my dh was raised on Turkey and all the starches so I have rarely got my way. The big meal is nice for big family gatherings, but I would rather relax and enjoy the day.

srmb60 10-10-2006 09:53 AM

Good Morning my slenderizing compatriots! This is the 31st anniversary of the day my husband and I met!

Softballmom ... I have to admit that I'm a bit jealous of your low 120's  Have you posted pictures somewhere? That's fabulous work!

Thin in Winnipeg ... you must feel better! We miss you ... the rapidly diminishing you :)

Allison ... it's an exciting time when our kids gain more independence. That's about when I really got going. Time for me so to speak.

re60511 ... welcome to our little board. Don't be a stranger. Post often!

chicky4 ... one light beer doesn't hurt much, once in a while. In fact I quite like it! How's the gym lately?

Robsia ... how can I say how proud I am of you?

Jazzbird ... lets catch up with those 120 somethings!

Ilene ... Jenfrus ... my two old friends ... you're such an encouragement to me.

I hope I didn't miss anyone. I just really appreciate you featherweights. I really do.

alinnell 10-10-2006 11:35 AM

Wow, 31 years, Susan! That's great! My DH and I have been married for 18 1/2 years (have been together for closer to 20), but it's my parents that are amazing. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past August.
