A "calorie is a calorie" and "calories in... calories out" served me well for many years... but then unfortunately, I started to develop the tell tail signs of metabolic syndrome... which affects approximately 34% of the population, most of whom don't even know it... so some carb restriction made sense for me... not only for weight loss, but to prevent possible health problems down the road...
But from what I've seen from various research that's out there... it does seem that about 25% of the population does do well on a higher carb and lower fat diet though... But I don't seem to be one of them anymore... and it seems more and more my experience isn't all that unique...
