Feather measurements

Hi Feathers!

I am just wondering what your measurements are like. Weight isn't all there is to be said about our overall appearance.

I've gone down quite a lot since I started. My starting measurements:

Thigh: 26 inch
Hips: 38.5 inch
Belly: 34 inch
Waist: 32 inch
Ribcage: 31,5 inch
Calf: 16 inch

And now:
Thigh:22.8 (-3.2)
Hips:36 (-2.5)
Belly:31.8 (-2.2)
Waist:26.7 (-5.3)
Ribcage: 28.7 (-2.8)
Calf:14.7 (-1.3)

I feel like I have massive thighs, so just curious to see what you all are writing down. Hahah.

xiaobaicai 04-27-2012 06:16 AM

Oh, good idea for a thread! I don't keep track of anything other than my bust, waist, and hip. And my waist is the only thing that ever changes, no matter what I weigh.

It's late in the day so these are measurements current as of about a week ago:
Bust: 36
Waist: 26
Hip: 35.5

I'd like to get my waist down to about 25. Possibly less. It'll be easier in the spring and summer time because I naturally have a lighter appetite when it's warm out. Plus, I spend far more time outside moving around than I do in the winter, when I just have to force myself to use the gym.

sontaikle 04-27-2012 08:18 AM

These measurements are about a week old, but I don't think they've changed much:

Bust: 36"
Ribcage: 29.5"
Waist: 24.5"
Hips: 34"
Thigh: 19.5"

krampus 04-27-2012 09:46 AM

I wish I had a measuring tape handy!

sumire 04-27-2012 10:01 AM

I did my first set of measurements when I was at 160.5 lbs:
waist: 33.25
bellybutton: 38
hips (above butt): 42
butt: 43.5
bust: 41.25
ribcage: 33.25

My measurements as of 3 weeks ago:
waist: 24 (-9.25)
bellybutton: 28.5 (-9.5)
hips: 35.5 (-6.5)
butt: 37 (-6.5)
bust: 36 (-5.25)
ribcage: 29 (-4.25)
calves: 13
thighs: 22 [ARGH :)]

runningfromfat 04-28-2012 02:46 PM

My starting measurements are in my ticker and I have updated measurements every 10lbs on my blog but I'm too lazy to look them up at the moment. :)

However, my current measurements (might not be 100% precise, haven't checked them all that recently):

156lbs and 5'6"
Bust ~"40 (depends on the bra) I wear somewhere between a 28HH-JJ depending on the bra type
Underbust=28"
Waist 29.5-30"
Belly button 33-34"
High Hip 35-36"
Hips 38"
Thighs 23"

My midsection depends a lot on the time of month and what I ate, hence, the range...

DottieMae 04-30-2012 03:36 PM

Great thread. I took my measurements last week for the first time so I could track progress.

Bust 38
Waist: 32
Hips: 37.5
Thigh: 11 1/4
Bicep: 11 1/8

valalltogether 04-30-2012 04:45 PM

ah, i might as well. euughh..

weight: 139
height: 5'2"
bust: 38.5
waist: 31
belly button: 35
hips: 39
thigh: 21

i look forward to taking another set of measurements when i get closer to goal.

ValRock 04-30-2012 04:58 PM

I really need to get a measuring tape. I lost mine and haven't measured in a while.

LisaTcan 04-30-2012 08:05 PM

Oh gosh some of you are putting me to shame! I've starting lifting so I hope these will go down, I have one of those awful body types where I have skinny arms and legs are carry all of my weight in my torso.

Bust: 38
Waist: 29
Belly Button: 33
Hips: 39

krampus 05-01-2012 09:51 AM

I want a measuring tape darnit! I'm getting to the point where I can comfortably pull a pencil skirt that used to be a struggle to zip down beyond the smallest part of my waist :)

lackadaisy 05-01-2012 01:16 PM

Oh man, this is reminding me of the full-body measurements I need to take for a "goal reward" dress I'm having made!

Bust: 33"
Ribcage: 28"
Waist: 23.5"-24"
Low waist: 28"
Hip: 32.5"
Thigh: 18.5"

Sharing these measurements really helps remind me of three things:
1) I definitely don't feel as tiny as my measurement make me realize I am -- more evidence of how hard it is to see your own weight loss in the mirror.
2) Body recomposition is my next fitness goal -- I would love to shrink that low waist measurement (fat on stomach/back) and thigh measurement (ditto) and increase the hip measurement (butt muscle)!
3) I need to buy new bras a lot. Haha.

krampus 05-02-2012 10:16 AM

Yeah lackadaisy that's TEENSY! Especially the hip measurement!

I measured myself this morning using an inflexible industrial measuring tape and a USB cable.

Bust: 32.5"
Waist: 26"
Hip: 36"
Thigh: 20.5"

sontaikle 05-02-2012 11:19 AM

I measured today and I lost a half inch off my hips! I was wondering why my pants fit better.

LisaTcan 05-02-2012 11:31 AM

Krampus - hahaha thats amazing that you measured with a USB cable I was actually laughing out loud.

Sontaikle - congrats!!

pixelllate 05-02-2012 03:11 PM

I might buy a measuring tape to see the difference between now and 16 (or 18...? for UGW haha) lbs!

SoCalCowgirl 05-03-2012 12:36 AM

My measurments are all over the place

Weight 126.4
Bust:35"
Rib Cage:26"
Waist:27"
Hip: 34"
Thigh: 36 - ewwww (edit) correct measurment is 22"

Bust-35
Waist-28
Hip-35
Thighs-36
Weight-129

OMGOMG! I have done the EXACT same when I didn't have a measuring tape yet last year. Hahahaha. Hilarious. I can tell you Krampus, a measuring tape is easier. And onlye like half a dollar at whatever which place that has em. Hihi

Hey, are you sure you are doing this correct? It would mean that one leg is the same circumference as your torso? It seems kind of impossible to me!

I'm not sure, I measure at the biggest bulge of my thighs, with the bulge being up towards the top of my thigh, but then my thighs narrow out as it gets closer to my knee. Maybe i'll try measuring in the smallest part, my thighs seem to be stalling when it comes to loosing weight as I've lost the majority of my weight in my stomach and boobs.

SoCalCowgirl 05-03-2012 10:52 AM

@ philana- I'm so glad you pointed out about the mismeasurment. I just remeasured my thighs and you're right, I did measure wrong, I'm thinking I must of did a stupid mistake and held the tape measure wrong lol. I got 22 when I remeasured, so their still big, but soooo much better than 36 :D

krampus 05-03-2012 12:02 PM

I would pay to see someone with wider thighs than hips :D

sontaikle 05-06-2012 10:29 AM

Huh. I've lost inches all around but I haven't lost any weight as far as I can tell. Everything looks better too.

I think it's a combo of weight training and my extra skin shrinking up. My stomach skin does not hang as much when I am doing planks !

New measurements:

Bust: 35.5"
Waist: 24"
Hips: 33"
Thigh: 19"

I didn't put it before, but my upper arms have gone down to 9" when last time I measured they were 10". Makes sense as I can see more muscle tone...I must have gotten rid of the fat there.

What's amazing to me is that my hips are now the same measurement as one of my thighs once were!!!

LisaTcan 05-06-2012 05:33 PM

Sontaikle - congrats! Those measurements are tiny

krampus 05-07-2012 10:16 AM

33" - those are impressive thighs! :D

A 24" waist is the stuff dreams are made of!

ChickieChicks 05-12-2012 08:03 PM

I've gained 3 pounds since having surgery last month, and my body composition has changed by a smidge, so my waist and hips have both gone up 1 inch approximately. This is from tonight:

ribs: 30 (before ?)
bust: 38 (before 36)
waist: 28 (before 33)
hips: 38 (before 44)
thighs: 21 (before 25)
arms: 10 (before 14)

I am an hourglass type, which helps, but post-kiddos, my belly won't go down, no matter what I do!!

ValRock 05-12-2012 10:33 PM

Now I wish I hadn't measured haha...

My thighs are only a couple inches smaller than my waist. Yikes!

Bust: 37
Underbust: 29
Waist: 28
Hips: 38
Thigh: 24... HOLY HECK. They're solid... but holy heck.
Calf: 15
Bicep: 12
Neck: 12 uhhhhhh

I quick measured so I'm probably way off.. I hope I'm way off on a couple of these!

Haha, we have approx the same thigh/waist measurements and I know how you feel. My thighs are just massive. Wish mine were solid though!!!! It's showing them to my mom without pants on yesterday that finally shut her up about me not dropping any more weight. LOL. One big pudding. Oh well. I'll get there.

Sarahlynn 05-16-2012 10:30 AM

I would like to add my measurements to this thread. :) I don't bother measuring my bust because I am breastfeeding so it changes size throughout the day. lol

Start: current:

arms: 12 in arms: 11.6 in
waist: 31 in waist: 29 in
abs: 39.6 in abs: 34 in
hips: 36 in hips: 35 in
thighs: 22.2 in thighs: 20.4 in

I am really working on my arms right now because they look so much bigger than the rest of my body and combined with my giant breastfeeding boobs I feel like my top half of my body doesn't match the bottom.

TurboMammoth 05-16-2012 09:51 PM

Okay, I got sick of not knowing my mesurements too and got them tonight using the little rope my boyfriend uses to tied up roastes meat and some handyman measuring tape... that was handy... NOT

My technic probably involves some marge of error byt anywa... gives some hint

Bust : 34'' with a crappy bra that did not support much lol
Ribcage : 27.5 ''
Waist : 27.7 '' ... same as ribcage. what a waist LOL
Butt/hips : 38'' arrrrrg
tighs : 21-22'' at this point the cat was jumping around me trying to catch the little rope, so this one is unsure.

It's kinda weird that I don't have much difference between my ribcage and my waist. Oh well. It would not be the first time my body is freacky :P

NOT weird at all. Most women have their underbust to waist measurement within +/-3" of each other (see here), so having them equal is completely normal! I did a post awhile back on different fits needs according to your midsection that you might be interested in. I think once I hit my goal my waist and underbust will be equal but for the time being my waist is about 2" larger than my underbust...

Wow. Thank you so much for the informations! It's kinda nice to know that my body isn't freak after all... after reading your blog, I'm ready to love my tube silhouette! LOL

EmmaD 05-17-2012 02:02 PM

My underbust is the same as my waist as well. I go out a little, then in at the waist (then unfortunately waaay out again for my belly and hips).

---

WOW. This was the wake-up call I needed. For about a year now, I have been up around 10 lbs and unable to get it together. A few days "on plan" then out of control eating and very little exercise... I am surprised it is not worse, really.

I am not at my highest weight but I think this is the largest I have ever been and I'm sure my body fat is back up in the "obese" category [BMI of less than 24 but obese body fat percentage]. I am older than many of you here and I am dealing with some serious metabolic shifts due to hormones, I assume, that happen to some of us in our late 30s. I was always slender so I never had to think about losing weight until a few years ago, and I am not very good at it. :(

Here are the measurements. I hope to come back in a few months with better numbers.

Bust: 36" (I am supposedly a 32D or 34C [which is what I wear; haven't found a 32D in stores yet] according to the information runningfromfat has posted)
Underbust: 31"
Waist: 31"
Belly-button: 36"
Largest part of belly, below belly-button: 37" :(:(:( My belly is larger than my bust now! OMG. I have always been a pear but had a nice flat belly.
Hips: 42"
Thigh: 24"
Calf: 15"
And... since I use FitDay:
Neck: 14"
Bicep: 11"
Forearm: 9.5"

ETA: I noticed I never put my weight for these measurements. That day I weighed 146.6 lbs.

No problem! I'm the same way and I've been trying to pay more attention to women who are tubs or slightly rounded like myself. One good example is the model at ureshii: http://www.ureshii.org/
and this poster on BiuBiu's blog: http://biubiu.blox.pl/2012/03/Kolory...ne-niz-na.html (she has a few different shirts she wears but you can see her underbust looks right about the same as her waist).

I think a big part is just learning how to dress it. Clothes that are made for nipped in waist just don't always look the best on us. But as you can see on both of those women, clothes that are made for straight midsections can look very flattering! My personal favorite is myself in the Porto from BiuBiu: http://braslessinbrasil.blogspot.com...y-clothes.html (the blue shirt in this post).

runningfromfat 05-17-2012 02:28 PM

EmmaD  My waist has also gotten quite a bit more rounded with age. Wonder if you'd have luck with clothes that are fitted between your underbust and waist but flare out below it? Something like the Summer City from BiuBiu for instance: http://braslessinbrasil.blogspot.com...thes-38bb.html (the dress I'm in there). Then it shows off your smallest part but demphasizes your lower belly. ;)

My guess is that if you start upping your exercise it'll help with the belly too. If you haven't been doing much, even doing light exercise can make a big difference! ;)

ETA: As for trying on bras you can normally find them cheap from Brastop or ebay (check out ebay UK too!).

Kayriel 05-21-2012 02:31 AM

Bust - 33"
Underbust - 28.5"
Waist - 27"
Hips - 34"
Thighs - 19"

Weight - 109lbs

Now to check back in a month and see what's happened! Hopefully a smaller waist.

Btw, for hip measurement is that measuring roughly around the centre of your butt or where around where your hipbones are?

Astrild 05-21-2012 02:57 AM

^I think "hip" is usually define as "widest part", including butt.

I haven't measured myself in ages... I haven't even been tracking my inches. I guess it's never too late to start.

Bust: 34"
Ribs: 29.5"
Waist: 27"
Trunk: 37.5"
Thighs: 20"
Arms: 11"

My belly is a realm of constant fluctuation so I wont even go there!

guichita 05-21-2012 10:39 AM

I'm hopping in here! Maybe we can start a featherweight/short and curvy fashion thread. I really struggle with dressing my bod like a grown up.

5'2
arm: 10
Bust: 34.5
underbust: 27
waist: 25
hips: 36.5

I have a lot of butt action, but it's all mostly side projection, and struggle with finding professional clothes that work on my short dynamic self.

mrmoustache 05-21-2012 12:21 PM

My measurements currently:

Bust - 33
Waist - 23
Hips - 32.5
Thigh - 19
Calf - 12.25
Bicep - 8.5

What I can remember from when I was around 120/125:

Waist - 26
Hips - 37
Thigh - 23/24

krampus 05-21-2012 07:22 PM

Measured myself after the gym today

Bust: 31 LOL
Ribcage: 28.5
Waist: 25.5
Hip: 35.5
Thigh: 21
