I know I complain about my body and how I feel like I need to lose more even though I'm down to 112 pounds and am mostly wearing children's clothes. I don't have any pictures of myself (no digital camera;I'm too poor) but I did find a couple of pictures of women with similar body types to mine.
Please be objective and tell me if these women look heavy, thin, or just right. To me they both look like could lose a few pounds.
My opinion: the first one looks "just right" to me, while the second one looks "thin" (not unhealthily thin, just thin). It's a bit hard to tell; the first gal's jeans aren't the most flattering fit--too loose for that--and the second gal has that jacket obscuring her torso (her legs are definitely small, though).
I've seen your measurements before and am sure that you look great. I know that sometimes we're not satisfied with the body shape we were born with and can't change too much, sometimes we're after absolute perfection (which nobody reaches), and sometimes we just don't see ourselves accurately. Whatever it is, hugs to you.
Yeah, I get it. I look at thighs that like that and sigh, just a little. My thighs and hips will always be large, as compared to the rest of my body. In the case of my hips, it's my bone structure, and in the case of my thighs, it's the first/last place my body stores fat. But, like you say, that's my build, and I feel closer to making peace with it than I ever have been...
I jumped on the New Who bandwagon when hubby started watching. Eccleston was my first Doctor, and yup, he's still my favorite. (I'll never fully forgive hubby for not preparing me for the regeneration bit. I had no knowledge of Doctor Who lore, and when it happened, I was crushed. Why, Eccleston, why?! )
I'm here to tell you that my thighs look like this and I hate it. I wish they were more muscular like a tennis players. But I guess we always want what we don't have. I think you look pretty darn good judging from your measurements. But I get that the satisfaction with how you look has to come from within. Hope this helps.
I think your weight is perfect for your height! Instead of concentrating on the scale, go for strength training and build muscle so that your true shape comes through! You won't lose pounds but you will lose inches!
What are your measurements? You're about half an inch taller than me and at my goal weight, so I'm just a tad curious :P
Those photos unfortunately don't do those two girls justice. But they look nice! I'd love to look like them. Nice and healthy, and thin! Not skinny, but if that's what you're going for then I would suggest strength training or something. Losing weight will not only be really hard and difficult to maintain, but IMO you might look a bit too skinny and gaunt. Weight training can change your shape without you looking like you're about to topple over. :P
I think the difficulty you may be having is that neither of those girls in the first post have the body *type* you want. Though the 2nd picture claims the girl is pear shaped, it really doesn't look that way to me.
Both girls in the top post have more straight body shapes. I doubt either of the girls in those pictures even if they lost weight would look like the girl in the 3rd picture. She has more of a waist. Some people just weren't born with well-defined waists. Especially considering the 2nd picture on the 1st post and the picture on the second post, both girls are virtually the same height and weight.
I also think that sumire has a point in that what they are wearing makes it hard to tell. Both girls in the first post have square shape shirts, which hides their actual body shape, and the girl in the 2nd post has a fitting shirt and curvier shaped, tighter jeans. Makes it extra hard to compare.
I used the first two pictures because the way the women are dressed is very similar to how I dress. My waist is small but it's so high on my torso that the only way I could show it off would be to consistently wear retro fifties style dresses with cinched in waists and they just wouldn't work with my job and lifestyle. When I wear t-shirts it's hard to tell I have a waist at all. I look straight up and down.
Anyway, cantgetenoughchoc, my measurements are bust 31", waist 22", hips 32" and thighs 20". No matter my weight my thighs have always been just two inches smaller than my waist, and they are solid muscle which means they are unlikely to get any smaller.
Thanks for all the replies. This has given me something to think about.

How can you say your a straight shape with those measurements? LOL. I'm straight with: 33-25.5-32. I'd be rocking with that tiny waist, seriously. Wear some stuff to show off how small your waist is IMO. I totally have waist envy now.

Ho-ly CRAP you're tiny! I'm 36-27-38, and only 1 inch taller and 8 lbs heavier...the 8 lbs sound like a lot but theoretically the 1 inch makes it so that if I were only 4lbs lighter I'd be the same BMI as you, and the fact that I've lost 10lbs already and my inches have barely gone down at all...I've lost 2 inches in my waist and that's about it!
