A little Challenge for you - December 1st
Hello! I know I haven't been around for a while, but I am back, and ready for a challenge! I always found that being involved with a challenge thread helped me be honest with myself (and others) about my progress. Would anyone like to join me?
My goals isn't exactly about weight lose here (I don't have a scale and don't think I'll be getting on any time soon) but rather about getting my butt back in gear, calorie counting and inches. Goals: Limit Alcohol to a more reasonable level Tennis 3-4x a week At home work out or running 2x a week Count calories (stay between 1400-1800) I hope some other featherweights join me with their own goals! |
Hi, I'm definitely in!
I was considering doing a 'goal by...' challenge but then realised that everyone is at a different place. Ok so at December I would like to have reached my goal, which is 120 lbs and a 26 inch waist. I'm currently at 126 lbs and 27.5 inches. Daily - Count Calories (1200-1400) Max 1 diet coke 6 glasses of water 1 Low fat instant choc (40 cals) Weekly- Go to gym 3 times a week for at least an hour Including fighting the FEAR and joining a class. One night a week with alcohol. |
I'll join! I've been needing some help for these last couple of pounds!
At December 1 Weigh 145 Run 3x week Push-ups and sit-ups 3x week Calories between 1300-1400 NO SODA!! That's a great idea with the coke, Dora. I have a nasty little addiction there... |
OK, here I go. With every weekend in November already booked full of social events all of which involve eating and drinking, this might be a tough one!
Goal Weight: Under 128 pounds/58.0 kg Exercise: 6 days a week of cardio minimum 40 minutes, pushups and situps 5 days a week Food: Stay under 1600 calories 4 days a week, under 1400 2 days (included in the 4) Bonus Challenge: Achieve a 26 inch waist (Currently 27.5 or so) |
DoraUK; so glad you mentioned alcohol as well! If I manage to cut it out, I get results fast, but it's really hard to not indulge when your social and everyone around you drinks a lot!
krampus: I thought it might be hard for some people due to the Holiday season, but hopefully it will keep us on track together! cherbear: I managed to kick my Diet Coke habit, I can still enjoy one every now again, but when I think back to when i drank several cases a week, I feel sick! Water is the better option! |
I guess I will go ahead and post my day here how (i am in Vietnam, so i'm like 14 hours ahead of the states time wise)
I have eaten about 1500 calories, keeping track of it on Fit day. I played tennis for an hour and have drank one beer. so far, so good! |
Ohhh I like this! I have made so many goals so its nice to say them out loud (well in theory, we are communicationg over a computer )
Goal weight by Dec 1: Under 128 (Same as you krampus!;)) Exercise pattern: Running/jogging 30 minutes 6 days a week Arms muscles: I hope I can see some definition of a toned tricep by Dec. 1 Leg muscles: I hope I can see more toned legs from running by Dec. 1 Alcohol: NO drinking till Christmas - ya this might be a little unattainable but Im still going to try! Measurements: Currently my waist is a 26ish. I hope I can have it back down to a 24 by Dec. 1 Lets do this Feathers!! :carrot: |
I'm going to have a hard time with the Diet Coke thing. I think I just need to treat it like an addiction and go cold turkey for a month. Maybe I'll change my goal to no diet coke till Dec 1... Hmmmm....
Starting tomorrow, of course... ;) |
My goals . . . .
1. To run twice a week, use the elliptical or do a workout video twice a week, and lift weights and/or do pilates twice a week. 2. To keep eating clean, but get enough calories so I don't drop any more. 3. To be able to do 15 full-length push-ups (I can only do about 7 or 8 right now) without stopping. 4. To be able to do the teaser series (pilates abs exercise set) without stopping. 5. To run my 5K under 24 minutes |
Ok, so far so good on some things...
I've taken off 4 of the 6 pounds I gained over a very weird weekend... I'm back down to 150. Mostly water weight I know, but still depressing. Calories are on track, I ran on Tuesday, and I'm running during lunch today and I'll run tomorrow. I need to do push ups and sit ups today too, I guess during lunch, and tomorrow and Sat too. The soda thing, not so good, I have one soda left, and I'll try again after I drink that. Woo! |
Last night was a total and udder disaster. I had a few bits of curry around midnight due to skipping dinner (we got so caught up that we totally forgot) then were ravenous by 3am after being out and got Pho at a restaurant. At least I remembered to show the guy at the restaurant my paper with special dietary needs written out in Vietnamese so it wasn't as unhealthy as it could have been.
|
I only have one goal before the year is out, and that's to have amassed 100 miles run, walked, or jogged. I'm at 60-something right now, so I think this is totally, totally doable. I may even increase my goal if I surpass it before the holidays. :)
|
katt99: That's a pretty awesome goal! Do you use a pedometer to keep your count?

So Yesterday and today I did pretty well. However, I was really good about tracking all my calories and realize i am eating way too much. No wonder I am gaining weight. I have a few frustrations right now, so i'm going to vent a bit.
I eat out over half my meals. The food here is wonderful, however I have no control what's in it. I also would like to eat mostly Vegetarian because I feel better when I do, but its really hard here. Also, the food here is really different. My old yogurt was only 60 calories and big, here it's tiny and 110. Fat Free doesn't exist. snacks. I'm snacking and I don't like it. I think it's because of my weird work schedule at the moment. Hoping it will end soon. I guess that's all. Hope everyone is doing good! and staying OP |
Maenad, thanks for starting this thread. I have bounced over my red line and need to get back down!
My goals: NRLW (strength training) 2x/week Run 3-4x/week Calories under 1800 No alcohol until Thanksgiving This month is weird -- starting with the kids having two days off from school today and tomorrow -- then they have some half days next week for parent-teacher conferences. Then of course Thanksgiving at the end of the month. All these things conspire to interrupt my exercise routine! All the more reason to get the food in line. Maenad, where are you in Vietnam? I visited the northern part of the country, but that was 10 years ago! We have a great Pho place here. I could live on the coffee alone. |
Changing my goal weight from "Under 58.0 kg" to "Under 57.0 kg." Giving myself something to really work for. I was 58.5 after a run today.

My goals--keep exercising!
So far one 35-minute elliptical session and one 29-minute Pilates workout. Five more days. I can do this. :) |

But, on the other hand, I haven't had a soda since Thursday. Probably the longest I've gone without soda in 15 years. Not too bad! Excercise is going well, I'm going to have to make myself run on the treadmill this afternoon since I got lazy and didn't get up this morning... Oh well, it's better than nothing! Hope you all have a great Tuesday! Have fun voting if you're in the US! |
Yesterday was perfect. I played a long game of tennis, ate on program, but then disaster struck! My husband and i headed out on the town with some friends. Luckily I had been pretty low on calories for the day, but not low enough for the amount of beers I drank. Today I feel ill and swollen.
|
I walked for a little over an hour at a pretty good pace to meet a friend for marathon clothes shopping. Then we ate at Hamakatsu, a restaurant that EXCLUSIVELY sells deep-fried meat. Sigh. I only ate half my rice, but it felt like too much of a crime to leave meat there and I was starving. Guessing today amounted to about 1700 calories.
I also haven't done cardio yet today but I am so sleepy I don't know if I can. Guess I'll have to do Tae Bo in the morning and run in the afternoon tomorrow. |
Hi every one, how r u all doing today. I am definitely going to join this thread. I am going on a vacation with hubby on dec22. So I plan to be at 120 by then. My goals for this month...weigh 125 by dec 1st and do yoga 5times a week. Best of luck for all. We can all achieve our goals
|
Hi all! Great goals so far :)
My goals to achieve by December: -Get under the 125 mark consistently -Drink more water -Practice mindful eating when tired/not busy-- eat when hungry, only! -Practice positivity-- no more berating myself for mistakes. Breathe deeply, forgive myself, and keep going :) |
Hello!
I'm new to this site and would love to join this December goal setting thread if that's ok. I've never been over weight, but I recently moved to Chile and have piled on 6kg in 2 months. I now really want to lose this, because none of my clothes fit and I feel really unhappy. I currently exercise 6 days a week, swimming, running and doing weights, but its obviously food that is the problem because I haven't lost ANY weight yet. I weigh 75kg at the moment and want to get back down to 68kgs. I've got no idea how long this will take. My goal is to keep track of my calories and keep them under 1800 every day. It's great to read all of your goals! Keep it up! |
Yesterday was wonderful! I planned everything out, and actually ate on plan and took off another 1 1/2 pounds. Yay! It's amazing what happens when you stay POP!
Still no soda, huge deal for me! I'm so excited! I need to make sure I go for a run or walk tonight after dinner. No excuses. Even if it's in the dark. Dogs need to get out anyway, right? |
Wow! Congrats Cherbear!!
My goal is to enter the 120's this weekend and to be under 127 by December 1st!! |
So glad to see so many more people Joining!
Ellietheelephant- I totally know how you feel, I move and travel a lot and it is super hard to not gain weight, especially in the first few weeks there! Why are you living in Chile? I have heard it is awesome there! I have been doing pretty well the last two days and am proud of myself again. hopefully I can keep it up! |
71.5 miles out of 100! Even though I haven't been jogging every day, I still feel like I'm making progress with my cardio endurance, and that's obviously the most important thing.
Since I just started doing walking/jogging/running/hiking more seriously in July (as in keeping track of my mileage and stuff), I'm wondering what I should make my goal for next year, mileage-wise. Math logic would claim 240 miles, but I also see a thread elsewhere on the site where people are trying to do 1,000 miles in a year. I don't know if I could do THAT, but we'll see where I'm at at the end of December this year. :) |
Hiya,
Basically I'm in Chile for 9 months as part of my degree, I'm here to improve my Spanish and I'm working as an English teacher. I think the food must be the problem, they have loads of good foods, that are all high in fat. Also everyhting is covered in salt here!! I've set a 6 day exercise program and am keeping my calories under 1800 every day. Hopefully this should work. How many kgs is it possible to lose in a month for example? I have no idea. I'm 5"8 and at the moment weigh between 74.7 and 75 kgs |
Hello everyone! So exciting to see so many Feathers jumping on this thread. And what an international thread it is!
I am patting myself on the back tonight... stuck at home with a somewhat-sick daughter today, so I motivated after the kids went to bed and went to the gym for a 4-mile run. Yay me! I have been pretty on-plan with food -- too much junk but OK on calories. Tomorrow night I'm going out to dinner (date night with husband -- few and far between) so I will eat lightly during the day so I can enjoy my dinner. I think we're going for Indian food. I'll hit the gym in the morning -- maybe some cardio, or maybe "Yoga for Athletes." Haven't tried that yet but I'm interested. Ellietheelephant, I think a kg is about 2.2 lbs, right? I always aim for a pound a week, so just under 2 kg a month? Side story -- when I was in Thailand, we rode elephants, and my friends wanted to name theirs Ellie, but I said no b/c that's my mom's name and she'd be offended. ;) Kat, I was thinking about joining that 1,000 mile thread. I often run 20 miles or more a week, so it's doable, but I've also been thinking about joining a Boot Camp at my gym, which would cut into my run time. Good for me to cross-train, I think, but I love the idea of that 1,000 miles! Maenad, I was in Hanoi in September and it was hot as Hades -- unbearable humid, too. Then I went to Cambodia in April and that was worse! Whenever something is really hot, DH and I say, Is it Cambodia Hot? And the answer is always no... |

Just read through everyone's Dec 1st goals.... very motivating!
I'd like to add to my goals: I also want to be under 125 lb by Dec 1st. .... this is going to be tough. Weekends I don't work involve social events, friends visiting, trips home, etc.... but, I think with some planning and mindful "light" eating on days where restaurant dinners and other tempting situations are planned, I can make this happen. Sending you all good vibes for the month of November! |
So I'm patting myself on the back, too, same7--I did a whole week on-plan for exercise! One day of pilates, one day of weights, 3 days of elliptical, and 2 days of running!
I started well for this week--did elliptical this morning. Hopefully I'll stay motivated and run tomorrow, despite the fact that it is FREEZING here until about mid-day (only 57 right now). . . |
Awesome, oneoftwelve! That's great. I managed 6 days of cardio this past week, going to try for 7 this week. It's funny how my existence truly feels validated if I spent 30 minutes or more huffing and puffing. :)
|
hi everyone! Great thread!
My goals for Dec 1st. is to get below 130's and workout five times a week. |
75.5 miles as of this morning, and I'm going to do 2 more miles tonight, which means I only have about 2.5-3 weeks to finish over 22 miles if I'm aiming for the 1st of December. Eek! This seemed so doable a few weeks ago! I'm scared I'm not going to make it, you guys! :(
