I was complaining in the October thread how I was in a little plateau, but then oh, my gosh, you guys, I HIT 138 TODAY! I haven't been below 140 in at least FOUR YEARS! You have no idea what this means. I feel so accomplished and delighted, and I'm so proud of myself for remaining (mostly! *heh*) patient while waiting for those numbers to move in the right direction again. WOO HOO!
So tell me all about times you've broken through a magic 10- or 5-pound mark and felt ecstatic. I finally feel like it's possible to lose all the rest of this post-quitting-smoking weight, and I feel a renewed sense of vigor for my commitment to better health, better energy, better eating habits, and a generally happier, healthier me.
First off kat, CONGRATULATIONS on quitting smoking - I did that somewhat recently too and it feels SO GOOD. I didn't even mind the incessant need to eat candy, better to stall weight loss than keep smoking!
Oh gosh. Well I was 150-155 for a few years so when I got below 145 I was pretty darn happy about that. Dipping below 140 was exciting too, below 135 is almost unbelievable, and if I can get under 130 it will be the second time EVER (first time was in...2004 and only lasted a week or two).

Congratulations on your own quitting smoking! And I totally agree that snacking for a while--and even gaining weight for a while or slowing the weight loss--is WAY better than continuing to smoke! I've been doing a lot of cardio exercise that I know I never, ever could have been capable of while I was still a smoker. I was just reading the other day that once you hit five years smoke-free, your lung capacity starts to rebound in amazing ways. I'm looking forward to that!

I'm with you, kat - I dropped below 140 for the first time in at least 2 years, maybe more, at the end of August. I was skipping around (on the inside at least) for days following that!
Next stop, 135! I saw 135.2 on the scale yesterday - but it was kind of cheating, it was after my workout and before I ate anything except coffee so I am always lower at that time than when I first wake up.
It is astonishing to me as well that there is downward movement, after struggling for SO LONG for any movement. I was bouncing around 141 for something like 6 months.
I jumped up and down for joy when I hit 141. I have never been that happy to be 141 in my entire life!!
My next goal is to be where you are, under 140. 139 would be nice, but 138 would be even better, of course! And I'm not even going to think beyond that at this point, that's getting ahead of myself. xD
I just finally saw the 140s this month and it's been like 3 years maybe more since I have been below the 150s. I feel so good about myself. I finally feel like I can control something and I'm on the road to success!
I also quit smoking 2 months ago...I haven't bought a pack ever since. I cant wait to be out of the 140s(1.5lbs to go)...I havent been able to for the past two years.
Our Starting and goal weight are IDENTICAL (lol)...I'll be rooting you on!

That's great. I was so happy when I broke the 150 mark this summer and have stayed in the 140's. But now I am getting impatient and really want to be in the 130s now. I know I can get there with time and effort but if it could magically happen in like two weeks, that would be great! HA!

In my case, no. I used to be at my best weight (between 110 and 120) about four years ago, then I stopped watching what I ate, didn't work out, quit smoking, and gained and gained until I was finally about 150 at my absolute highest. Three years ago, I was also on some medication that caused me to retain a lot of water and made working out a sluggish, painful affair. What did me in was then seeing pictures of me at a friend's wedding from December of '09. I didn't even look like myself. In 2010, I resolved to lose all the weight I gained in these past few years, and now I'm about halfway back to my goal of returning to what I consider my "normal" weight.
