Are there any of you on the featherweights that like to exercise, do dvd programs? Or other forms? Track it? I like to workout alot and use to post under the exercise section alot. But because I am at goal or close most of the time and could do one or more programs at a time I was attacked by a few a people so did not feel comfortable posting anymore.
I always tried to be supportive of others and make people realize I am a person that has alot of time on my hands and fell in love with exercise in my late 50's Prior to that I was a couch potato until I found something I liked and it evoled from there. I am very lucky.
I feel you, sister! I have bi-polar with a big emphasis on the irritability and anxiety. When I go for a run or get a strength workout in I feel like I can keep my cool pretty much all the time. I feel at ease and relaxed, I sleep well. I think it even helps me make better choices diet-wise, who'd want to ruin a sweaty run with potato chips? I have time on my hands also, being a stay at home mom. It's not hard to load my boys up in the jogging stroller and get outside for an hour.
Thats great you pack your kids up and get them out..and also don't let that tie you down! You pretty much descibed my feelings to a tee! Do you know me?
I take summers off {my husband and I live apart he visits on weekend in summer} and during winter we live together. During the winter I work as a Food Server {another attention defecit disorder occupation} so it suits me well ha ha! My husband works long hours and different shifts so I and the dog {except for working a few days a week} PLAY.
I am currently doing CLX and TURBO FIRE [together} everyday and throwing in an Insanity workout a few days a week. I trail run with the dog 2 miles a day.
What kind of strength training are you doing
Three times a week I run 7 to 10 miles and then lift weights for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I've been doing cardio and full-body weight lifting at least three times a week for more than 20 years. It's a lifetime hobby for me.
I love exercising now! I have IBS and for whatever reason exercising keeps me regular and happy! Plus I always feel amazing after a workout. I tend to run a lot, I try to run 30 minutes every day but sometimes my body just doesn't feel like running for the day. I get an hour work out every day.
Petite Powerhouse 7 to 10 miles Ww I hope at some point I can run that far. Do you road run or trail run? That is great and you discover weights early enough in your life it will really make a difference in your bones .Thats great!
Samantha Another runner thats great! What other type of workouts do you enjoy? I too have IBS-C exercise cetainly helps along with keeping me having a positive outlook on things!
I'm running 3x a week with my 2 dogs. We go for 5km.
I walk them everyday as well and will be going back to work tomorrow where I walk over 11k steps a day.
Weight training is something I should add in but I've got sore arms at the moment.

I am fortunate to live in the mountains, so in every direction they rise and fall around me. I can run up and down them on the sidewalk and road or use one of about 30 trails in the area. I love it! If I keep my eyes focused on the ground I can forget just how high I am climbing. It makes running easier: my brain doesn't defeat me.
Last week I walked out my front door and hiked from 6,100 feet to 11,000 and back down. I had slush on my car about a week ago, too, so the snow will be here soon, but for now exercising outside is wonderful.
As for weight lifting, when I started lifting at 17 there wasn't a thought in my head about bone mass. But now? I'm just so glad I started when I did. I know it will pay off as I age.
What kind of dog do you have? I haven't had a dog since I was a teen and have been thinking a lot about getting one.

I love it, I crave it and I need it for my sanity! I'm training for a half marathon and run 3-4 miles 3xs a week and have one weekly increasing long run (I did 6 miles this week). I also strength train 2xs a week. I'm sorry to hear you were not welcomed in the exercise forum, that's disappointing.
I have 2 dogs now, put my little yorkie down in Aug
The real running dog is Akela, she's part Border Collie and part Sharpei. She can run fast. The other dog is Sophie, she's part ****zu and part Bichon. She can keep up with us too
Deva- Whoa! I don't train that much, but I guess I'm still building up to it. I pretty much end up making up all my own strength workouts. I pick different moves according to what I feel like I need to work that day. I'm not very organized about it, but I kind of like that! I like to use combination moves, like the lunge/bicep curl or the squat/shoulder press. I'm very fond of Pilates for abdominal workouts, the less strain the better! Anyways, I do one move for about 60 seconds and move on to the next, without rests. It's hard, but so worth it!

You sound like you are my neighbor do you live in the eastern sierras? I have just started running I have always been a backbacker. Due to an IT band injury sevea years back we curtailed it a bit and then my DH has had knee surgry and has cartlige problems in both knees so we mostly hike now.
But I have been doing a lot of HIIT training. And when walking the dog on the dirt tails near the house started running with him, He is a GREAT PRYNESS and weighs 140 lbs so more than me and is my wild thing. I need the dirt trails due to the impact and I have not had too much elevation gain. But am finding it SOOO excillirating. I then come home and do my stregth and cardio or HIIT workouts, I go back to my winter home here the first of OCT and start back to work.
Ar4life Sorrry about your loss I do know how hard it is, my boy does not run real fast but fast enough for me we still have quite a bit of heat here and he hauls around a big coat we cross the creek at the begining and end so he gets to get wet at both ends!

I usually run, do the stairmaster, or the elliptical. The elliptical is my least favorite and I usually save it for days that I have less energy.

The elliptical is the first thing that got me back in to exercise. I am very lucky to have one at both of my homes I bought my first one from some one leaving our area for $80, and it is a really good one The other one for our summer home I paid full price {so its not as good a one but adaquate}. I started with 5 min thought I was going to die! But got sooo much better....sadly now with all I do I can't even remeber the last time I used them. But have been thinking about them alot lately. I LOVED to put on my tunes and rock out it always makes me feel like I am out dancing or something and makes the time go really fast.
Today I threw in HIP hop abs Total body burn it is so fun! I love Shaun T. After my run and my Turbo fire Hiit workout Later will do my strenth but need to paint the fence and its 95 out!
