teff - well gosh darn :( - I am hoping that those rolls would go away but if it doesn't happen I will still be healthy :carrot: and happy :).
I am just eating healthy everyday and waiting to see where this journey takes me. Somewhere in the 120's is where my weight has been for most of my life. So I am very curious about this process. If I continue to eat great foods - watch my portions - do what cardio and weight training I can work into my life - I am looking forward to seeing where I am by Jan .2011. But I certainly intend to enjoy the journey. When I go to the doctor in April - I want him to have a big smile on his face and tell my lab stats are great. I want my inside to match the healthy changes I'm seeing on the outside. :flow1: |

Sorry I haven't posted in a couple of days. I did really well with my food intake over the weekend. We even went out to breakfast. I only eat half, and give my hash brown potates and other sausage patty to my husband. Luckily, he doesn't have a weight problem and burns it off. It's funny, when I decided to lose weight, he joined me to support me. He stopped eating fried foods. I started counting calories like a mad person. He lost 10 lbs. in less than a month. And I'm still counting calories like a mad person.:lol: Of course, I lost quite a bit of weight since then, and don't have much more to go. Persistence and discipline is the key for me. And exercise. And water. The usual. ;) Danni, you had mentioned inches around your middle. Have you tried Pilates? That worked wonders for me. Of course, for me, it's my hips that take forever to lose inches. But each workout is helping me get to where I want to be. Just wondering, do any of you watch TV while you eat? Or do you sit at the table? Well, I have to get busy. Have a great week! Tyla |
tya- I bought the pilates video - but have not given it a try yet. I have heard all positive things about pilates - so it is on my list of things to try.
My son and his wife are sick so I have had the 11 month-old grandson since Sat. That is my exercise this week. He crawls - I follow and say no,no. then he laughs and crawls faster. He stops every now and then to make sure I am following - he really enjoys this game. The fact that I have been on my feet all day -exhausting. The fact that he just fell alseep in Grandma's arms - priceless! :smug: |

I just came back from a breakfast meeting this morning, and I'm developing pretty good habits...if I do say so myself. How is that, you ask? (LOL) Well, I'm kind of proud that when I ordered my breakfast this morning, I asked for a box. I decided I would put whatever I didn't need in the box for my hubby. (He loves surprises I bring him.) At this meeting, you choose from 3 country breakfasts, and of course, they all include high calorie items. I ate most of my scrambled eggs, 1 sausage patty and a little bit of the banana muffin. So in the box, I put the rest of my eggs, the other sausage patty, potatoes and muffin. Now my hubby can have a breakfast he would like, and I feel great for what I did. You should have seen the guy next to me. I think sparks were flying as he devoured his food. It was gone before I had a chance to look up. I guess I used to be like that. No wonder I was overweight! Now I can say, when I'm full I stop eating. For me, that's an accomplishment and a good habit. |

New number today is 128. Now I have to work to keep it there so I can write it on the chart tomorrow and draw that line moving down. Isn't it funny how little things can mean so much. :dizzy: My goal is to get to the gym today - it has been almost 2 weeks. I kept moving at home but have missed my regular program. But when you are on a lifeplan - you have to plan on life happening!!! |

OK - I was smooth sailing right along. Then I finally made it back to the gym and even used the walker some watching TV. I was a good girl with my eating :angel:. And gosh darn the not-so-dear scale jumped up 1 and 1/2 pounds.:mad:
Now come on - where is the justice in that :?:. So I remember hearing Dr. Oz answering this question on TV. After you have a good workout your muscles will retain water as they repair themselves. OK - I'm going with that theory! ;) That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :p I hope that everyone else is having a Super Friday! :twirly: |
Danni I see it's your turn for the scale to be playing tricks. It was mine last week when the scale went up a couple lbs instead of down like I expected. Even though it was water weight, I upped my cardio and the weight on some of my exercises, watched my sugar and salt intake and pounded the water. It worked! :carrot: This morning the scale said 137.4 :D

I am back to report that the sudden increase of 1 and 1/2 pounds in one day has just as suddenly disappeared.
:goodscale I am back to 128. The chicken will get to move soon. :hyper: Since I weigh everyday I know that my weigh doesn't usually do these crazy zig-zag chances. So maybe there is some truth in the muscles holding water after a workout. |
Maybe we need to cut our bodies some slack, huh? Give them a little leeway. :-)

I have been bouncing around 128 for 11 days now. :trampo:
I am OK with that. The positive side is I feel like I am in the 120's to stay. I will continue to eat clean 95% of the time and exercise and see where the numbers take me. But I feel so much better and my clothes fit better. The fact that I have viewed this journey as a lifestyle change has made all the difference in the world. The way I'm eating is something that I can maintain because I'm not giving up things - just making better choices. So good luck to all feathers on your journey. :) |

Tyla - Yep it's 14th of March this year here :). I was baking so fresh scones for breakfast, rocky road bars, strawberry cheesecake muffins, chicken lasagne. All my mums faves! But I'm happy to say I woke up this morning with a loss :D. Oh Easter is going to be a cheat too but I'm sure I won't mind too much! lmao. What have you given up for lent?? Danni Congrats! :) It seems you are definately there to stay and I think you've done amazingly, such an inspiration! 0.8 lbs loss this morning, like I say I never get massive losses but at least I know it's going down even though I indulged a fair bit :) Have a great week girls! |
Well this is morning after the party - ugh! So I have to face up to the gain and hope that it soon disappears. But a once-a-month party with the girlfriends is part of life and this is a lifeplan - I didn't pig out - but I had 3 beers and more cookies than necessary. :^:

x, congrats on your loss despite Mother's Day! I'm like you... I never get massive losses, but any loss is a great loss. (That's why I chose not to weigh myself until the end. I don't want it to get in the way of what I need to do.)
I've not had cookies, pastries, sweets, junk food, or alcohol since Feb. 9th. I started Lent early. It really started on the Feb. 17th, but I wanted to prove to myself that I really didn't need these things. Plus my goal was to exercise everyday, no matter what. I don't want to sound religious, but this is making me feel closer to Our Lord. I figure if He could do this sacrifice for 40 days, I should make an effort, too. (Besides, I owe Him a lot.) Danni, congratulations on all your losses. You must feel really great! Awesome! Glad you had fun with the girls! Oh, thanks for trying to help me with changing my tracker color, but that didn't work. Tyla - Thankyou! :) I was really happy and I've been doing good this week eating and exercise wise but my weight seems to be slowly creeping up and I'm not sure why :/. I haven't done anything I thought would cause any type of gain but weigh in isn't until Wednesday so fingers crossed it will go back to normal by then (yn). You have done so well, AMAZING will power! Keep it up :D I wish I'd taken part in giving something up for lent, it's something I definately want to do next year! And I can understand that, recently I've actually been wanting to be more religious, well not religious but turn my life around a lot. From making a lot of mistakes in my life I really just want to change. I'm not saying I'll give up everything that would be classed as "bad", just being a better person is good enough for me :).
Has any of you guys weight ever crept up for no logical reason? Ot's getting to me a little bit. Have a great day girls! |
x, stress can make you gain. There is a hormone called cortisol which goes into your blood stream. This is to give you energy and balances your blood pressure. When too much cortisol goes into your blood stream, due to stress, it triggers insulin. Too much insulin causes you to gain weight. So, you can do all the right things to lose, but when you are stressed, you can gain weight.
I've heard not getting enough sleep is another one that causes weight gain. I've been under a lot of stress and not sleeping the best lately, and I know I'm one of those people that's probably holding on to weight. But I'll stay disciplined. I think meditation might be in order. LOL As far as being a better person, I really feel like you do. I want to be a better person physically, emotionally and socially. But with all the craziness going on all around us, sometimes it's kind of hard to do. But I'm trying. Let's continue to be determined in our weight loss goals. Tyla |

Tyla - That would make sense I suppose I have had a lot going on recently! I just really hope it calms down soon, it's putting me off trying! I have those moments when I really just want to go give up and lie down haha. As for the sleep I've probably slept a bit too much the past few days, lazy I know but I've been off work so I figured I'd make the most. Then again I have been staying up a lot later too! Ah hopefully our sleeping patterns will return to normal soon, I have my fingers crossed for you :). Meditation is actually a good idea, maybe we need to do more yoga and reiki lol. Or maybe go for a massage? That should relax us!
I'm glad someone gets that! And I agree but all we can do is try our hardest, we'll get there eventually :). My next step in improving myself is going to college, I never went when I was supposed to and now I want to. I want to change career and do a course even though it is 2 years I'm happy to do it. I actually miss learning which I never thought I'd say! I had my second interview today and I definately have a place, I started in the fall so yay for that! What are you doing? :). Can you believe it...only 12 more days until Easter!!! Boy, this year has been going fast. It's almost April. I'm just getting over the holidays and New Year's. ;) That's where I picked up the extra pounds, and having a hard time dropping them. I was actually at goal before the holidays. One of these days I'll get back there. It seems like it's taking forever. x, Congratulations on getting into college. I think that's excellent. What will you get your degree in? I got my degree in Psychology. And I love to learn new things! My husband and I sometimes watch The Science Channel, National Geographic or Discovery Channel on TV and learn a lot. Does British TV have anything like that? I also like watching comedies. Right now The Big Bang Theory is my favorite show. Do you have that there? (I'm starting to sound like a nerd.:D But I really love lots of things...art, drama, music, dance.) Sorry I'm going on and on. Anyway, I wish you all the best! Weighed in today and I'm down 0.4 lbs, not a big loss by any means but I've been up as much as 3 lbs during the week so it's good to see the scale going back to normal :). And we're so close to Easter now, some scary stuff. I agree with the people who say this year is flying by.
Tyla - Keep up the hard work and you'll be back to goal before you know it (: Psychology? Wow, I've heard that's really tough but it sounds very interesting. I'm doing Travel and Tourism, I'm seriously determined I'm going to travel when I've finished as well, I really want to take a year out visit as many places as I can. Yeah we do! :carrot: Scale reads 128 today. I bought some exercise bands this week but have not gone upstairs to try the DVD yet. If you read my post in the March Chat thread you will know that I am trying flaxseed - added it to my oatmeal and it seem to have stopped the nightly eating.
Tomorrow is my official weigh-in and record day. Hope that I can stay in at 128 or I will soon have to move my poor chicken back up! ;) Have a great day! |

X, you're doing great! Just keep doing what you are doing and you will lose those last couple of lbs. It doesn't matter if we lose 5 lbs. by Easter. It matters that we are eating better, learning new habits and feeling better. Today I weighed myself, and was shocked I haven't lost anything since I started giving up everything.;) (Well, I did lose .5 lb.) But my hubby says I look good and I feel better, so that should be enough. I did start a Fat Smashers plan by Dr. Ian of Celebrity Fit Club 4 days ago and eventually that should shake things up a bit. I must say giving up protein and eating more fruits and veggies feels good to me. (By the way, I have no plans to go anywhere on or after Easter as of yet.) Danni,, congrats on your weight loss!!:congrat: I didn't realize that you posted on the other thread. Eating flax seed sounds totally healthy. Great idea! Since I eat oatmeal everyday, I should try that. Bands are a great idea, too. Any other tips to help me drop these last 10.:dizzy: I get kind of discouraged at times, even when I know I am developing good habits. I am doing Pilates and cardio these days, too.:smug: (30-50 minutes per day) Unfortunately, I don't feel that great, and the doctor has me on meds. I wonder if that's the culprit to not losing. Danni - Here's hoping you stay at 128 tommorow! Congrats, you are so close! :). I've never tried using exercise bands so you'll have to let me know what they're like! I'm glad the flaxseed is helping, another thing I might have to try, it's super healthy!
Tyla - At the moment I'm waiting until I get to 115 lbs to decide whether I want to go to 110, I'm not sure if it's gonna look healthy but it's all about trial and error ey :). 0.5 lbs still counts!
