Easter Challenge

Easter is only 6 1/2 weeks away! I really want to lose at least 5 lbs. by then. My goal is to drink my water, stay within my cal range and exercise daily until Easter. What do you want to accomplish in the next 6 1/2 weeks? Who will join me in the Easter Challenge?
:easter2:

danni 02-17-2010 06:59 AM

I would like to see a 5 pound loss by Easter. That is 1 pound a week with a little wiggle room - so I will join you.

Good Luck to everyone in keeping on your plans!!

Summer is coming and I won't be able to hide under jackets and sweatshirts anymore. ;)

Sunsera 02-17-2010 11:44 AM

I'll join you. I would like to lose 12 pounds by Easter, 2 pounds/week. I'll settle for 10 lbs though. This current diet I'm on (Eat to Live) has been working faster for me than any other diet I've been on. Fingers crossed the progress stays good! I'm so so so sick of wearing the same thing everyday practically - if I lost 10 more lbs I could at least start wearing some of my clothes again. Not my "skinny clothes" but still.

Doughnut 02-17-2010 02:49 PM

I'd like to lose 7-8 lbs by Easter. I think it's achievable but if I've lost at least 5lbs I'll be happy(ish).

tyla 02-17-2010 03:03 PM

Welcome Danni and Sunsera and Doughnut! (Oh my, Doughnut, I'm gonna to call you "D" otherwise I'll be dreaming of them, my downfall.)

I'm so excited about this challenge! I'm glad you're here with me.:D I know we'll all do well, because we all have a good reason to stay motivated. I really want to wear a pair of jeans that I could wear in October, but because of the holidays (and my overdulginging, of course), I'm not even attempting to try them on. I don't want to stretch them!;) Today was my first test. Someone gave me a cadbury chocolate bar, and even though I refused, she stuck it in my purse. She really was trying to be nice. Not trying to sabotage me at all. Well, I decided to give it to my hubby. I even told him about it. Yay! :carrot: Well, gotta go exercise.

Let's do great today! Talk to you soon.:dust:

I am worth it 02-17-2010 08:13 PM

I'm in! :) 5 lbs by Easter sounds just right for me. I did the Valentine's Day challenge and lost 4 out of 6 six. I was bummed when it was over because I know it helped. I actually logged on today hoping to find a challenge.:carrot:

messycrayola 02-17-2010 09:12 PM

I'll join =) Hopefully can lose 6 kilos in this time. I think I will look into the Eat to Live diet, Sunsera, as its similar to who I'm choosing to lose weight. However, I've noticed a creep towards more cheese and bread so think another careful consideration of the principles would be worthwhile. =)

tyla 02-18-2010 02:42 PM

Welcome I Am Worth It and MessyCrayola!

Wow, this is our day 2. Closer and closer to our Easter goal by the minute.
I stayed within my range, exercised for 30 minutes and drank 10 glasses of water.

Sending us all a little will power today. Good luck! :dust:

messycrayola 02-18-2010 10:40 PM

Yesterday was ok. Walked for 45 mins and grazed on vegetables (raw carrot and green beans) in the afternoon. I was at a training session and ended up with a headache, possibly from missing dinner. Have to make sure I actually eat before going, next week. Otherwise quite happy with how it went =)

tyla 02-19-2010 10:55 AM

Yesterday, I had about 1250 cals, walked briskly for 1/2 hr. and drank 10 glasses of water. I will get some strength training in today. I've had kind of a hectic week, so I didn't have time to do a work out dvd like the day before.

Messycrayola, I see you calculate in kilos. If you don't mind me asking, what country are you from? It's kind of cool, that we are from all over. And yet have the same struggles. Keep up the great work!

Good luck to all of us, especially for the weekend!:dust:

messycrayola 02-20-2010 07:15 PM

I'm Australian tyla =) Weighed in today and had lost an entire kilo and a half. Very suprised by that one! That puts me very close to no longer being overweight, according to the BMI. Body fat percentage is another story I'm sure!

Reading other people's posts about weight training has made me realise the importance, however, not in a good financial place for joining the gym at the moment. May have to invest in a set of dumb bells for home I guess.

I think I will try to get hold of Stephen Pratt's Superfoods book today, as the philosophy behind it just seems to gel with me.

Also a NSV - we had bought a carton of Skinny Cow ice creams yesterday - I thought they were terrible! Like gritty cake batter! So I very much doubt whether the carton will be finished any time soon =)

Have a great weekend everyone!

tyla 02-20-2010 09:53 PM

Messycrayola, congratulations on your weight loss!:bravo: How is the weather where you live this time of the year? I don't go to a gym, but I do own weights and use them pretty consistently. I also own a treadmill, do DVD's and do other things like dancing or take exercise classes. Exercise keeps me feeling good. Tell me more about Stephen Pratt's book.

Today I ate within my calorie range, did 50 minutes worth of exercise and drank 10 glasses of water. Doing the right thing makes me feel great!:D

Let's continue to do the right thing.

tyla:dust:

starryeye31 02-21-2010 08:45 PM

Count me in ,I think I can lose 5 lbs by Easter :)

messycrayola 02-21-2010 11:01 PM

Hi Tyla =) Great to hear you're so on track!

Stephen Pratt's book focuses on eating certain key foods which are very nutritionally important, such as broccoli, salmon, and oats, among other things. What appeals to me is the wholefoods message, and the focus on eating naturally occuring foods. The message is summed up by Michael Pollan, in his book, "In Defense of Food" as "Eat Food. Not too much. Mostly Plants."

Welcome Starryeye31 =)

danni 02-22-2010 07:23 AM

OK - I'm back from my break and ready to get back on plan.
I think that having a break from plan every 6 weeks will give me
something to look forward to - however it probaby shouldn't be a
4 day party. But the  make me do it!!!

xgemziex 02-22-2010 01:30 PM

I'll join you I know it's a little late but I'd like to lose 5 lbs by Easter as well :) I'm 119.8 lbs now and I'd like to be just under 115 by then! x

tyla 02-22-2010 03:02 PM

Welcome, Starryeye31 and Xgemziex:welcome3:

Welcome back, Danni!:welcome2:

Messycrayola, thank you for the information on the Stephen Pratt book. I was reading about the super foods on google, and that inspired me to go out and buy some of those. In fact, I had oatmeal for breakfast.

As for me, I've been working at eating right, exercising and drinking my water.

Let's stay strong!:dust:

Hi, thank you! :) What day are you doing weigh ins? x

I weigh myself everyday, but I don't move my counter unless I've been at a new weight for 3 days in a week because I go up and down so much. My official weigh in for the end of the challenge will be Easter morning.

tyla:dust:

I don't go to a gym either. I do weights at home and use a Total Bodyworks 5000 (like a Total Gym) for my strength training. For my cardio, I ride a bike and make attempts at running.:o

xgemziex 02-22-2010 04:36 PM

Sounds good! My weight changes a lot too so I only record mine once a week, I have to weigh myself every day though just to keep things in check and to check the trend. Is Easter morning the 4th April? x

Weighing in everyday keeps me in check too. I try to keep it realistic. If it's low, I think of whether I drank enough (I'm bad at that), and if it's high, I think of what I ate that I shouldn't have (I'm bad at that too). Occasionally, I will have eaten clean and had a great workout and it doesn't budge or goes up! :stress: I'm working on not letting those days get to me.

xgemziex 02-22-2010 05:13 PM

Ah right just so I know how long I've got! haha. I know what you mean, it's hard though and really discouraging when you've worked really hard. Just some weeks depending on what time of the month it is for me are better for my weigh ins. The week after my TOTM I always weigh in my best x

tyla 02-22-2010 05:19 PM

I can't weigh myself everyday. It affects my mood! I know I've been really good the last 2 weeks, and I did get on the scale yesterday. And the idiot thing said I gained. I was pretty bummed all morning. My husband was so sweet to tell me he could tell I was losing weight. He sees me working at it. Just like I Am Worth It said, it probably was salt.

Sometimes I weigh on Fridays. If I decide to weigh, and I have a loss, you'll see a change in my ticker.

There's no pressure here. But Easter will be our official weigh in.

Good luck to all!

xgemziex 02-22-2010 05:29 PM

Water retention is a bummer! That sounds like a sensible plan, it's pointless upsetting yourself when you're doing so well :) Easter it is! Good luck to you as well!

danni 02-22-2010 05:30 PM

I am a weigh everyday kind of girl. My weight doesn't go up and down alot as long as I'm working my plan. If I didn't weigh for a week I would let this guy:  - tell me to go on and have a second helping.

Maybe some time in the future I will get to a place where I can maintain and not worry so much about the scale. I don't have a special number as a low that I am trying to reach. The scale is just a tool to make sure the fat is really leaving my body. When the mirror shows the love handles gone I will be  in the street.

I do weigh every Friday and record that on a chart I keep on the icebox.
I love to see that line go down - so that is my official mark it on the chart day.

tyla 02-23-2010 11:37 PM

The days are clicking by. And it's a little over 5 1/2 weeks until Easter. It sounds like we're all motivated and doing great. It really helps that we're doing this all together. Keep up the great work, everyone. :dust:

danni 02-24-2010 06:29 AM

The dear scale was kind again today. So I rewarded myself by finally getting to add my signature weight tracker.

Now that I have lost the vacation weight, the real work begins -- again!
But the vacation did me such good, that I'm glad to be back on plan!!

xgemziex 02-24-2010 07:15 AM

Congrats on being back on track! :) Hope your day is going well x

danni 02-24-2010 12:54 PM

Thanks - I am having a good day. Oatmeal, fruits, veggies and some chicken soup. It's good to know that it is all good for me - even better not to feel hungry. I will have a few almonds and dark choc. chips for my last treat tonight.

My exercise today is :running: after my 10 month old granson.
Picking him up (22 lbs.) when he reaches the dog water dish.
Bring him back to the living room.
And then 10 seconds later - doing it all over again.
Who needs lunges and squats. :)

tyla 02-24-2010 04:25 PM

Congrats, Danni! Keep up the great work! Did you go anywhere special on your vacation? Vacations are tough to be on plan sometimes, but you are right, they are sorely needed.

We're all doing great! I love that!

Tyla

danni 02-24-2010 04:34 PM

I went to the Beach with 11 girlfriends. We do it once a year.
Now you know I had to party! But it is always good to be back home. :)

xgemziex 02-25-2010 05:39 AM

Sounds like you had a great time, it's pointless going is you're not going to let loose a little and make the most! I'm glad you're doing so well and children are the best exercise haha. x

messycrayola 02-25-2010 09:24 AM

Hey everyone = )

Your holiday sounds heavenly, danni!

Its good to hear from some more people = ) Had an impromptu 3km walk tonight when I realised it was over 40 minutes to the next bus. Aah...public transport. Although, needless to say, I am actually quite happy about walking that distance.

xgemziex 02-25-2010 09:30 AM

Aha nice to know there's a bright side to them! haha, the extra exercise will have burnt some extra calories, well done! :) x

I am worth it 02-25-2010 03:32 PM

Yahoo, I'm in the 130's.:carrot: It's been a long time since I've been here.:D

xgemziex 02-25-2010 04:32 PM

Congrats! :D x

messycrayola 02-25-2010 06:55 PM

Woohoo! I am dancing with you, I am worth it! :carrot: :carrot:

tyla 02-25-2010 07:58 PM

Congrats, Iamworthit! I'll be looking forward to the day when I can say that! I'm really working at it these days, so hopefully it will be soon.

Danni, what a fun vacation! Thanks for sharing.

If I do say so myself, I love this thread! Everyone is so motivating.

Tyla

danni 02-26-2010 06:38 AM

I am worth it - I am getting jiggy with you too! :jig:
The best thing about this forum - is how happy you feel for everyone else.
One victory is a victory for us all.

I am ( I will not say stuck) loving my new number of 131 for a few days.
I went to the gym yesterday :D.
I ate all good stuff :).

But, I am really looking forward to hitting 129 - one day soon - so
that everyone can dance with me. Getting in the 120's will really
feel like success to me!

xgemziex 02-26-2010 08:00 AM

Out of interest how much exercise and how often are you girls exercising? I dunno whether I'm doing enough so I just wanna compare to others really :P. && You'll be in the 120's in no time Danni if you carry on doing so well! :) x
