Default Just a Hello.

Hello All,

Just a quick introduction of myself...

I am a mother, a wife, a student and a worker. My son is nine months old. I have always had a "weight issue" I think 208 was my heaviest. I managed to get down to 160 two years ago then I got married and then pregnant thus I was up to 181 in August of last year. Slowly but surely and with much hard work the weight has come off, however I am stuck at 150. I still want to lose at least 15 more pounds. I have have recently decided in May I am going to jog a 10K, I do circuit training and walk/jog at least three days a week, I want to up that to five days of cardio and I find myself getting really exhausted lately. (my son still gets up on occasion during the night) Any tips on how to gain more energy?

Hi there

I just started reading this part of the forum today
Looks like there's several of us struggling with the last few lbs.

Hmmm... more energy. You didn't mention your food intake, water intake, sleep patterns (except for getting up at night).
Try not to drop too low in your calories, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, and get 8 hrs +/- of sleep per night. I know--easier said than done-LOL!

I've been watching a tv show called "the last 10 lbs bootcamp". They put the person on a 1500 calorie diet and an hour of exercise per day (ususally 6 days per week). I'm not committed to exercising that much, so that's probably why I'm not losing my last few lbs.

Good luck to you. I know it's hard, but hang in there--you can do it

Hi!

I am a stay at home mom to my son who is now 17 months old...(who by the way still doesn't sleep through the night!) so I feel your pain on the energy thing. My son was up nearly ever 2.5 hours until he was 13 months old...we were walking zombies and there was no way I had the energy to work out. He has started sleeping better now (was up at 1:30am and then up for good at 4...yuk..this morning)

I can tell you what helps me..first I try to eat breakfast within 1/2 hour of waking. It helps me so much to get the day started. I never used to eat breakfast but have found it very important energy wise for me. I try to eat a portion of protien and a good complex carb like a bran flake cereal. I also try to work out earlier in the day if possible it helps with my energy levels during the day. Since I am home with my son and on days like todays where I only got 5 hours of sleep last night I will take a 1/2 hour nap or just rest when he takes a nap. I feel very refreshed, but not any longer than that or I feel really run down afterward. I have found that the longer I work out (I do strength training 3 days per week and cardio 5-6 days and some pilates in there too) the more energy I have.

Make sure you are eating enough calories too. You need them and your body is still recovering from the pregnancy and birth of your son! Taking care of your 9 month old is exhausting itself! I know...trust me. My little guy is everywhere and into everything! One thing that has helped me is my state of mind as well. I am going into this not focused too much on the pressure of weight loss in a certain period of time. My goal is to simply eat well, eat whole foods and exercise each week. I want to lose the weight and it is coming off very slowly for me, but I feel so much better. And I am good with that!

aara ...

Oh, how I remember the days of babies not sleeping their nights it was hard I needed my coffee all the time, exhausting really.... I was tired but I muddled through it, and you can too... I used to take long walks with the baby in the stroller, try to stick to protein, lots of vegetables, some good carbs... I also found that if I snoozed when the baby did I felt much better....
