I am up 1.6 lbs. from the Halloween mini chocolate bars and from my niece's birthday (everyone had to have one piece of each cake and there's no dog to "share" it with).
Back to writing/counting the calories. Should be an interesting annual physical with the new doctor. I've been fasting since midnight and, since I woke up at 3:30 and couldn't get back to sleep, I'm gonna be a bit hungry and cranky by the time I get to the exam .
Am taking a banana and a cup of low fat yogurt which I will devour as soon as I'm done.
Dagmar - hope the physical went well! Don't sweat the 1.6 - think of the big picture and how great you are doing. You will have that pound off by the end of the week!
November is a big health month for me... it's the month for me to reclaim my health, fitness, and healthy habits. Coaching field hockey is just so darned time consuming that I have not exercised much and there have been several late games where we have stopped for fast food. Granted, I usually have subway (not too bad), but still... yuck. I weighed yesterday - 144.6 -- not too much damage, but still...
I am not a person who likes to be SO busy! I don't know how some people exist on schedules like this year after year ... I need time for myself.
So, Nov. is going to be all about me time and health time. My last game will likely be tomorrow or later this week (we are in the regional tournament now).
I'm just sitting still in my PJs after my morning South Beach bar and getting ready to jump into some work-out clothes and hit the gym! Since November is a new month and the elliptical isn't doing what it used to do for me, I'm trying out the ArcTrainer this morning! Wish me luck!
This week is beginning to look fantastic. My professor gave us class off on Tuesday, which means I get to sleep in, and I only have one hour of orchestra practice as opposed to a usual three tonight!
The weekend in Niagara did me NO good. I'm back in that horrible cycle of losing all week and gaining it back between Friday and Monday.
What do you think they'll feed me next weekend when I'm an adult leader at a youth retreat? DH has been there and he says the food is very good. Oh dear ...
Good morning! I got up early and did 20 minutes on the NordicTrak. I figure if my DH can do it 5 mornings a week, so can I! Plus, I'll still take in two days at the gym (so I can one-up him!!).
So here we are with a new month and I'm ready to kick it into gear! I did some cleaning most of the morning and just got back from my 20 minute "brisk" walk . I plan to try and increase my exercise this month and watch those portion sizes as I just don't want to go back to calorie counting right now. We'll see how it goes .
SusanB Been there etc. re weekend gain back. As long as you're not gaining back more than you're losing you're a "maintainer in training" right?
abbyin Sounds like you've got a good plan there for November.
Allison Yeah! Gotta keep those men on their toes!
Claire It sounds like you're really ready for some "me" time. Someone in maintainers was going to the election tomorrow and calling it "me" time because she wasn't taking her child along. We all do get too, too busy sometimes, don't we?
And I had a good check up as I suspected I might. I really am quite healthy, despite the occasional indulgence. The doc was quite impressed by the sheer amount of exercise I do every day.
He's quite the "hottie" - really fit and quite handsome (my other doctor just retired and really was an old man). I've never had a handsome doctor before. Kinda strange but nice strange. Just have to work on his sense of humour (couldn't seem to find it this morning).
Staying OP tonite and I will kill DH if he shows up with 1/2 price Halloween candy (did you all know that, in Canada now, Halloween is apparently being referred to as "black and orange day" in the junior public schools). Is that not too, too silly? Apparently calling it Halloween offends the Wiccans or something like that.
I need to bookmark this or something because I keep forgetting we have a featherweights thread again! =)
I moved to Arizona this summer, and I think we are the only US state that doesn't observe daylight savings, so no extra hour of sleep for me... bummer!
Dagmar, I am in the hospital a lot (for school, I'm currently working on a master's in public health and applying for med school myself) and there are some REALLY nice looking young doctors walking the halls! My Dr. is a middle aged man with a bald spot... I really like him though.
props to the morning workout ladies! I need to start doing that, today I skipped out on the gym because I was just too tired by the end of the day. If I could just drag my butt out of bed and do it first thing, I wouldn't have to worry about it later!
hi all , i see a few names in here i remember from a longgg time ago when i used to frequent this site a lot. that makes me really happy
a quick rundown, i'm carey and i'm currently in my third year of university and hope to be a teacher. i find myself turning to food when i'm feeling down, particularly if i'm stressed or bored. i really enjoy exercise, especially riding my bike and going to classes at the gym but for some reason it still seems easier to be lazy some days. i still haven't quite figured out what a good weight goal is for myself so i usually go by measurements instead. i love nutrition and am pretty good at calorie counting. so, health wise, that's me in a nutshell. i hope you're all having a great week!! good luck with the exercise
Hey Dagmar - when I was pg with DD1 I had a totally hunky doctor - it was extremely distracting!!
Well, we went to Paris last week and on Sunday it was mine and my dad's joint birthday party, so after a week of extravagance I was up yesterday from 138.2 to 141.6 - a gain of 3.4.
However this morning I was back to 140.8. I tend to lose vacation weight gain fairly quickly, especially when it's been a vacation with lots of walking and sight-seeing rather than a lazing by the poll vacation.
I also bought myself some running shoes and started C25K again yesterday after hurting my heel last time I tried it and having to have a few weeks off while it healed.
Good morning everyone! Life has been crazy here. I don't know how the people with full-time jobs, kids, pets, spouses, friends, and other activities do it! DH and I are swamped just with our jobs and our dog. We did some political volunteering the past two weekends and had a Halloween party too so we're totally exhausted. We had to wait in line more than an hour to vote this morning!
Dagmar, LOL about black-and-orange day. DH used to work for a company that had a big Halloween party every year, until one of the employees sent out an email saying he was so offended by the celebration of "Satan himself!" The company stopped having parties after that. :P
My weight's bouncing around as usual. Hopefully it will stabilize in a downward direction for my weigh-in friday.
Hey Carey~I remember you! What are you planning on teaching? My DD is in her first semester of college working toward a degree in music education and computer science.
Iris~not having to switch back and forth with daylight savings time is lucky! I'm envious! Personally I don't think there is a valid reason we do this any more. At least a few years ago they agreed to prolong daylight savings time until after Halloween (it used to end before). It gives what few trick or treaters a little more twilight to go out in.
anyone else still have halloween candy floating around the house?? I want to get RID of it but it belongs to my roommate (who so graciously told me to help myself...).
presently I am trying to deal with some body image issues... I posted on the 20-somethings how I gained back some weight and now I just feel disgusting. Rather than that encouraging me to stay on track, it often seems to have the opposite effect - but I AM promising myself to go to the gym tonight after my night class. I can watch election results while on the treadmill instead of sitting at my house (and likely eating).
